Well it was a man's world until 1/10/06 when Angelina Jordan was born.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019.
Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English, Japanese and Swedish.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 or 7 year old.
Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on UA-cam recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.”
At age 8, (please refer to replies by erik to a comment I made on JHTreacts video on 6/7/21 who provides proof Angelina had already turned 8) Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on UA-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old.
On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London.
Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. She earned the Golden Buzzer for her performance of her unique arrangement of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. She sang her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the Finals but didn’t make it into the final 5 contestants. There is much debate over how and why Angelina was eliminated.
Angelina has covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, all of which are available on UA-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. In August 2020, her manager and uncle Michael Astar announced Angelina has signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. On 11/6/20 her first single on Republic Records, Million Miles written by Angelina, was released. She dedicated it to anyone who has lost a loved one. Her 2nd single, 7th Heaven is a jazzy, upbeat, inspirational song and was also written by Angelina. Angelina’s family requested Republic Records to allow her to have as normal a childhood as possible. This is why Republic Records has not promoted her first two singles.
Angelina Jordan is a humble, compassionate young lady of very few words when she is not singing. She is on videos saying she wants to sing for the entire world and also that she wants to improve the quality of life for all the children on Earth. She has helped to raise millions of dollars for children’s charities and environmental causes.
Musicians who have worked with her have been quoted saying Angelina is among the most talented musicians they have worked with and she is the boss in the room when rehearsing. Remarkable for a girl of few words when not singing. For Angelina, it is all about the music and not her.
Personally, I find Angelina’s voice the most soulful and emotional voice of my lifetime. Angelina as a person, inspires me to be a better person and live longer to listen to her sing for as long as I can.

Angelina in my humble opinion is the most amazing talent EVER either male or female. She makes others redundant to me.
She's never nervous on stage. She's been singing on countrywide shows since she auditioned for NGT at 7. Yes, SEVEN.
I can make this very simple for you. Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard, and that opinion goes for many genres that she covers. You are not prepared for how good she was as a child and how incredibly good she is now at 15. Other great singers have their niche-jazz, ballads, blues, pop, soul, etc. Angelina kills them all, and just as you noticed, she does it with her own arrangements that pay respect to the original singers, but gives you her own unmistakeable version. There are so many that will blow you away.
Since her age stunned you, you really should listen to Angelina at 9 covering I Put a Spell on You, with a great jazz band behind her. I honestly believe it’s maybe the most remarkable music video you may ever see. Follow that up with her cover of Bohemian Rhapsody on America’s Got Talent. Then you have no need for my comments-you will be not only hooked, but shocked at Angelina’s unimaginable talent. That’s a lot to take in-but just start listening.

When her record label (Republic Records) , family and herself want it, they can just push the button. Many people forget that she is only 15 years old today because she is so mature for her age. No need to hurry, I'm sure Angelina has good people around her. I think everyone on her team including the record company (Republic Records), slows down a bit with marketing her. She is so good anyway, so she can not be ignored. She delivers music that lasts, and not music that lasts for a few weeks as plastic hit. Here is an introduction to Angelina for you and your viewers who might not be familiar with her.
Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong.
Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She went ahead to win the the big prize at the finals where she received 46% of the votes while the remaining 9 finalists combined received 54%. Angelina said she likes singing because she wants to bring joy and love to the whole world. One of her dreams from a very young age was to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. She accomplished that at the age of 8 singing Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World.
After winning NGT, she was flooded with offers from major music labels as well as Disney but they were all turned down by her and her family in order for her to continue her education and to protect her artistic integrity. Her uncle/manager in an interview last year he talked about music labels top executives who would fly to Norway on private jets with huge contracts offers but would leave mad and frustrated because they never expected being turned down.
Angelina is fluent in Norwegian as well as in English. She also speaks some Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and probably learned it from her father. She also speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother as well as some Japanese that she picked up from her grandfather as well as her mom and uncle who lived for a period of time in Japan. She actually performed a Japanese song at a concert in Japan.
Most of her performances after NGT were for charitable children organizations where she helped to raise millions.

I've heard in excess of 150 presentations by this girl, starting at the
age of 6, and after listening to her taking on numerous genres she
is, without a doubt, the most versatile singer of excellence on the
planet. A one word description would be 'chameleon', for she is able
to adapt her vocals to anything she decides upon. Her range, not just
high but ultra low as well, is beyond excellence.
Angelina was a 12-year-old soloist for the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarets stabsmusikkorps). Yes, the band's uniforms were indeed military uniforms. Angelina Jordan is a true miracle in her own world of music, noone sings as beautifull and creates an atmosphère wherein she then rolls out her voice in distinct waves, weaving a scenary of loving sounds which sustainingly gives birth to dragonflies and flowers as part if our inner nature if beauty, i am so impressed , electrified and intrigued by Angelina her work of art.
It is somehow a pity to notice that Angelina seems a little lonely and / or tired and it is far more much more fun to see her tears of laughter and sparkles in her eyes.

Let me introduce you to Angelina Jordana Astar. She is already a musical genius started singing jazz at 18 24 months old. Currently she is 15 and will turn 16 in January. Some say she is the reincarnatin of music itself. She is already a Legend and makes all her own arrangements to the 150+ covers she has done. Including Adele's new single Easy on Me, which she dropped the cover thesame day as Adele!
I get your point, but she only sounds like Christina when she wants to, the rest of the time she sounds like Billie Holliday, Miley Cyrus, Whitney Houston, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Nora Jones, or any number of others: it all depends what she's singing and the vibe she wants to give it. She's been unbelievable and has literally owned the stage since she was 7. She is never nervous . And, yes, at 15, she has the best head of hair in showbusiness. 😎

I give you a 10 of 10 on this reaction. New sub here. I think her first recording of note was when she was 6 years old and she recorded "I Who Have Nothing" at her school's studio. Obviously, she was not born a blank slate. A gift from God or a natural result of reincarnation(s) (not that they are mutually exclusive). As far as her stage presence, I think the following will make it more clear:
“When I sing I go to another world. The world is endless. It's like, full of happiness. I love it. It's amazing. And when I am on stage, I don't want to go [leave the stage]. [laughing]. I just want to be on stage"

She has SO MANY remarkable and mesmerizing songs! I'm constantly looking for reviewers like yourself who are just getting exposed to Angelina and who have an obvious appreciation of genuine talent when they hear it. Angelina has written at least 2 of her own songs....Million Miles - a tribute to her grandfather who passed away and 7th Heaven an uplifting jazz tune. I began following her over a year ago and have seen every video now including rehearsals. A prodigy who is humble, empathetic, altruistic, kind and elegant. You can't say that about many people. You will want to watch every performance after tasting just a few you can't stop!! That tree on her head LOL! From what I can gather, in Norway it is common for women and girls to wear floral headgear to celebrate summer which you'll see at many of her outdoor performances in Norway. Enjoyed this reaction very much and hope to see more with Angelina in the near future. She will consistently blow you away from age 6 to now 15. Yes a 12 year old just did that. One of mine and one of Angelina's massive fan bases favorites for sure. As the saying goes: "you ain't seen nothing yet". She won Norway Got Talent at the ripe old age of 8 years old by singing classic Jazz songs (ie: Billy Holiday). Angelina has so so much great music (covers and originals) on YT that for any reactor, and there are 100's and 100's of reactors to Angelina, she is a wonderful choice to grow your channel. She was signed by Republic Records at age 14 and her family is very protective over her that she enjoys being a kid and finishes school before breaking out into the industry. She now resides in LA. At 11, she opened for Norah Jones in S Korea in front of 40,000 people. Totally relaxed. You should really hear "I'm still holding out for you" she was 10. Read her bio on Republic records website for a pretty good general idea. As good of a singer she is, it pales in comparison to what kind of person she is.

You definitely "got" Angelina by this one listen. People will now tell you to listen to this song or that -- there are several that will be suggested repeatedly -- but I think the way to hear Angelina is as you did: pick a song that you know and love, and then check to see if Angelina has sung it.
A YT search will show if she has; that can be the next of her performances to listen to. I and many others agree with your point about what this recording would have been like had it been obtained through a professional recording system. I have thought that for many of her performances that have been captured by some amateur recording device. Yet almost always they are exceptional, because she is. We who know her are all waiting for more professional recordings of her to become available. The few that exist are simply wonderful.

Omario, I can only promise you, if you want to get to know Norway, do it !! In addition to the composer Edward Grieg and the Norwegian poet Henrik Ibsen, Angelina should also be mentioned in my opinion. The Norwegian government has named Angelina their "Norwegian Treasure" because, even if she lives in America now, she is always connected to her home country!

In fact I can't remember a comparable talent this young. Even Michael Jackson wasn't that good at that age if you watch his performances with Jackson Five.

That was Angelina 3 years ago at 12. You ought to see her today at 15, then you should go back to her "early" days (6-9) to see her progression. By 10 she was a full professional with a fully "adult" voice. By this age (12) she had released an album called "It's Magic" with this Norway Military Band & this concert was the album release concert. Now at 15 she is the best I've seen in my 74 years. There are many amazing vocal artists today, including those you mentioned, but no one moves me like Angelina & no one has her versatility of different styles of music. She can sing anything & she's known as the Girl with 1,000 Voices for a reason. She won Holland got talent as 9 y.o singing opera learnt herself from u.t. She is also a kindered soul who has made a fond to built playgrounds in south africa . They has built apr. 14 untill now. She is expected like angelina to be a world star.

I was totally shocked when I first heard her sing this song and she has not stopped shocking me with that phenomenal voice she has it is a true instrument. I have seen Christina Aguilera do this rendition and I know Christina has a wonderful voice that she had to put so much effort into it. You mentioned to Angelina seemed relaxed I would say she sang this effortlessly because the girl is so confident and knows her capabilities.I completely agree with you about the band and what this would’ve sounded like with proper musicians and recordings et cetera.

Great reaction and great song choice. I love how she sings this. I'm in my 40s and I can say she is the greatest sing my ears have ever heard. Even if she would've quit singing at the age of 12 I would say the same. There are many great voices out there that are a pleasure to listen to but there is only one that has made me cry(many times). The depth of her voice and her ability to make us feel the emotion that she's conveying are, imo, unmatched. At her core she is a jazz singer but she has the ability to cover all genres at the highest level. Please continue this journey, even if you don't react to her anymore. The first song I heard from her was Bohemian Rhapsody. 20 seconds into the song I was hooked, and I had something in my eye ;).
Her birthday is Jan. 10, 2006. And who didn't have a crush on Angelina Jolie? I am 70 and had a mad crush for her for about 15 minutes. This band/orchestra is the Norwegian National Armed Forces Band. Every year they put out an album featuring different artists recording favorite songs and such. This is the big fund raiser activity of the Orchestra for the year. Well this year(2019) the Orchestra did something they 'ed never done before. They unanimously chose Angelina to be the only artist featured on this years album.
My first contact with this singer came in November 2017. I was running the net to find new singers and to distract from the chronic pain I deal with. I was watching a Best of The Voice Kids around the world, and I saw a picture of very young girl who's hair looked like it had been brushed in a hurricane. The caption read something like, ' 7 yr.old does Billie Holiday'. Well, as I was underwhelmed by what I was watching, I can never miss somebody doing, or trying to do, a Billie song. What happened as I started watching was something I thought was an impossibility. I watched this wonderfully disheveled 7-8 yr.old do what most adult singers wouldn't even try. This little girl swept through 'I'm A Fool To Want You' like 'Lady Day' herself, with the added element of singing it A Capella. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (135+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra , and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from James Brown (as here) to Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to Amy Winehouse (and many others in between) and do them all justice! Angelina seems to challenge herself by remaking iconic songs with fearlessness and calm.
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40 piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come. This is my all time favorite cover of It's a Man's World, bar none!! Male or female! I totally agree with you about how she manages to do it such justice while adding her own twist. Not enough words: Angelina is now 15 and is a polished professional genius that has been wowing crowds since she was 6 years old. All of the professional voice teachers who have reacted to AJ over the years have been astonished at her abilities and find it difficult to describe her because they have never experienced anyone like her. If you view all of her performances, you would be aware they are all at prodigy level.
