This song takes my breath away. I think the way that she changed it from the recorded version was really smart. They are two different mediums with different strengths, and she made changes to highlight that in a fantastic way.
It's that build of intensity that makes more emotional the song. I feel like it's when you're talking to a friend (or your mom) all your feelings and the more you talk about them, more sobs and tears are coming out. I love how you explain that to us. The play/musical itself seems to be a bit obscure because I can’t find people who know what i’m talking about when I mention it. But there is an animatic up on youtube that perfectly captures the emotions behind the song itself. This song is a personal favorite so maybe it’s just my bias but please check it out if you haven’t, even if it’s just in your spare time. I really do recommend watching the animatic (first one that pops up once you search the title of the song) because it’s true to the actual story of the musical and it had me crying on more than one occasion. Sorry if this is long, I just really love this song and I think it deserves a bit more attention than it has atm.
