wish you were closer lol. Would love to buy they one you removed. Miss having my self latch unit that was on my old 404 unimog. Have US military version now that does not have the guides or self lock mechanism like you pointed out. Might try to weld up some guides that direct the ring/trailer into position someday.

Where you are my friend I would tool up, tool up and tool up, get a good mig welder for those heavy duty repairs, a lathe is so handy for cutting your own threads, shafts and bushes when the bolt shop is closed on a Sunday :) and a milling machine for keyways, boring and facing and even gear cutting there are tens of thousands of helpfull YT Vids to self educate and guide you and there are plenty of forum sites that would answer any of your questions and give solid advise also I reckon you need a decent concrete slab and not the one that has seen an earthquake or three go through, good luck with your journey.
I enjoy your content, keep up the great work, cheers.

A good concrete slab is definitely on the cards!!
A lathe is on the wishlist, but it's further down than the hoist for the ute (trucks)
A new workshop is in the timeline, big enough for the hoist with concrete strong enough.
We had to bucket out the service pit today because the water table is so shallow here it comes through the porous concrete when it rains.

Hi Jack, I have had a similar issue with a smaller Milwaukee impact driver. I have had some success by pulling it apart and using some electronic contact spray cleaner inside the trigger switch mechanism. But still seems to keep happening again after a while. From what I hear from the tool shop they seem to be prone to this. Sounds like a bit of a design issue. I find pushing the fwd, reverse switch back and forth seems to get it going some times. But still annoying. Looks like the tarps did a good job of blocking the light for the camera. Interesting stuff. Well done.

I second this re co contact cleaner. Also might be worth seeing if YT channel AvE has a teardown of the Milfucky rattlegun on his channel to help with reassembly or fault finding potentially.

As someone with only one eye due to a sports injury when in Jr HIgh school I whole heartily agree with protecting eyes. Recently I was sitting in the truck and had something came through the window and hit my single eye, since I live alone I ended calling my friend's wife to come over and help me get whatever it washed out! I am now keeping bottles of saline solution around just in case.

I have a lot of saline flush. But luckily don't need it much since I went to these closer glasses. They are a bit snug, but they do well.
Eyes cost a lot to repair, mine have cost tens of thousands in repairs.
I have seen a few great mottos like that!

    Hi jack
grinding near the air tank with sparks going all over it?
Be careful a friend of mine lost his life doing the same thing 😢
    Love you’re channel Jack
    Where’s the old boy?
Outstanding work, I’m sure the old truck will die before the new towing hitch rusts away

Hey Jack, what you removed from the pintle hook but wasn’t a cotter pin as they are a roll pin, what you took out was a split pin 😊😊😊

You could easily restore that multiplier - grind a piece of bar to fit inside and weld around - good as new. I had a chuckle when you were describing your corrosion protection on the mounting plate - you live in possibly the driest environment on earth where the high tensile steel plate at least 1/2" thick would take a thousand years to rust through, haha. I'm not trying to bag you, I would also clean it off, it just amused me :) Oh, Dewalt makes a big mother wrench that blows the MW away.... DCF900

      Good idea!
Yeah I'm paranoid about corrosion though, I'm from close to the coast and deal with a lot of ex mining equipment. It's probably a good habit to have 😅
I'll stick up the MW gear for now, just because I've invested so much in it already.

Its a shame Jack that you cannot use Amazon to order your "Parts", we don't know how lucky we are who can order a "Part" and it being delivered next day or day after, 15 hours is one hell of a trip.

Fascinating for a bloke like me who can barely hammer a nail. Do you have a trade or just years or working things out yourself?

    • @jack_out_the_back
      @jack_out_the_back  Рік тому +2

No trade, but have worked under and with very experienced mechanics in different settings.
Learning as much as I can from them, and working the rest out. Always good to be able to call a friend though!

I notice some of your vehicles have a number plate with 'Farm' across the bottom.
Does that mean you have to pay the government a license fee to drive your vehicle on your own private property?

MILWAUKEE rattle gun as you call it, should be reliable tool, I did not have good luck with them. I lived in Milw. for 35 years & within three miles of Milw. tool. WE here in Wisconsin would call you a (shadetree mechanic).
