  • Welcome to the EPIC Adventure Outfitters Podcast, amazingly called "2 Dudes 1 Wrench". The title of this episode is "Do You Even Lift Bro" - a Deep Informative Discussion on Jeep Suspensions, Overloading, HD Springs, Brake Kits and Differential Re-gearing.
    This episode is thrice as nice, being our very first 3rd outing behind the microphones. The Ginger even did some homework for this one and came prepared with papers filled with numbers... Shocking... we know. Thanks for tuning in and we hope that you find this episode thrilling.

      That's pretty much how we conduct ourselves. It works for most people that come to us for advice, however some think we're too harsh or opinionated ha ha. We're just straight shooters and base our advice on real-world working knowledge, which is rare in our area of the world. Cheers from the team at EPIC!

    Guys, that was amazing! You honestly answered so many questions I had and thank you for including the payload discussion in this episode. I had mentioned I’d like discussion on that subject in the last video’s comments because I’m seriously wanting a Gladiator now and found the topic of payload in regard to Jeeps not super easy to decipher. I’m clear on it now.
    I also was really interested in the topic of heavier duty springs in the rear and how that technically adds to the load capacity a bit.
    One item you mentioned that I’d love to hear more on is around gearing. I’m particularly interested in the Gladiator Rubicon eco diesel but watching your videos, I’m always interested to hear you talk about your typical setup (3.5” lift and 37” tires) which looks amazing btw, but I always end with the question on gearing. I feel there’s a lot of opinion on gearing out here on the inter-webs, but I’d like to hear the facts and what you guys choose for different setups and why! It seems like just because you can keep stock gearing doesn’t necessarily mean you should from what I’ve gathered. I heard you mention (4.56 on Eco Diesel)
    One last thing, I want to hear tons more on Jeeps no doubt about it, but one topic crossed my mind. The topic of adventure and overlanding itself! You guys actually go out and do this and I’d love to hear more in regard to, “How to plan an overland trip” “Does your shop offer information on overland adventures and if so how does that work?” “Durations and mapping through onX Maps” etc.
    Thanks again for doing all this and sharing your knowledge. I look forward to the next episode and can’t wait to do some adventuring myself!
    -Taylor

      Huge thanks Taylor! We'll dive into the gearing in more detail in the future for sure (we just touched on it here). As for wanting to know more about planning and running an overland trip, we have this slated for discussion in the near future. Cheers from the team at EPIC!

    Also - The House batteries / solar panels etc. add weight. - I thank you for the conversations you are having. I enjoy the "not a sponsor product" but the real reasons and we have tried a bunch and this is what works best. Honest options are great.

    Thank you gentlemen finally someone talks about payload! I’ve been to expos and asked this question and they all avoid it. As a truck driver we’re scrutinized on weight daily and to make it easy everyone should load up their rigs and see how far over they are on gross vehicle weight at a cat scale.

    Great content, love it. Here in Australia, home of Dobinsons and ARB, we have quite restrictive vehicle modification laws. We are limited to a 2” lift and a 7% increase in tyre diameter from stock. You can exceed this by a small margin if you get an engineer to certify your changes are safe - costs $$. I’m assuming 37s and 3” lift are legal in Canada out of the “box” - no third party certification? Wish it were the case here. Keep up the good work. Cheers Simon

    Always great information. I have had the pleasure to talk with Ginger, very knowledgeable and listens to my needs.
    You mention the TeraFlex 3.5” HD rear coils, which is what I am looking for. Do you have that part number, I can’t find them on the TeraFlex site.
    Oh wait!! Is it the Outback Coils?
    Would you use those front coils as well when a steel bumper, winch, etc is added on the Mojave?
    Yes, I plan on Falcon 3.3 shocks and all the other bits n pieces.
    You do some MetalCloak lifts, (great stuff I did my JKU with MC).Thoughts on the new MetalCloak Black series shocks, pricy but damn they’re nice!! If they can hold up to our Canadian salt n brine winters!

    • @EPIC-4WD

      Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We unfortunately only work on JLs/JTs. Our business model is to work on specifically what we drive daily/offroad and to only offer products that we have personally tested/used to have an informed opinion/advice. We haven't seen a JK in 5 years in our shop, so we feel we may not be able to offer relative proper advice on that platform anymore. However, most general information we share is transferrable to JKs/Jeeps. The Kraken was designed for the JL/JT, so the plates won't fit properly in a JK without some serious modifications. We were thinking of making a JK version, but we simply cannot keep up with the demand for the JL/JT, as we're constantly behind production and have long pre-orders. Maybe in the future! Cheers from the team at EPIC!

    It is kind of weird, I don’t go to Subway much but the last time I went, they didn’t have spicy brown mustard and I had to get regular which was a little disappointing but if they’re getting rid of it all together that’s just weird, what snacks are you can get rid of mayonnaise and bread?😅

    Another sweet episode, but there is something that caught me off guard with this episode, and that's why is it that when you discussed the price, you did it in American money and not Canadian money . I thought you fellas were in B.C. Maybe at least do both for the ones that don't pay in American money . See ya next time.

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  2 місяці тому

      Yeah, I was shocked when the Ginger showed up with American pricing (USD)! As half of our client base is actually American and 2/3rds of our social media followers are American, talking in USD is something we're getting used to. If you have any questions on Canadian pricing, just give us a call. Cheers from the team at EPIC!

    Out of curiosity what would be yalls recommendations for getting lockers in my gladiator max tow? Air? Electronic? Mechanical?

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  2 місяці тому

      If you're concerned with hard core rock crawling, ARB air lockers have the best engagement, however Eaton electronic air-lockers are great as well - and a bit easier of an install as you don't need an air compressor and air lines, etc.

    Overlanding Question: Jeeps are know for their off-road capabilities. But are y'all saying the Gladiator is not a great choice for overlanding because of it's puny payload & tow capacity? I will say we don't have to worry about law enforcement pulling us over to inspect our vehicles in Texas. I am able to drive my TJ with highline fenders without any flares. Texas isn't strict on vehicles. BUT...I do want to stay safe so how can one build a proper overland Jeep Gladiator?

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Most people who want to overland and see amazing sights would be better served with a full-sized truck. That being said, the Jeep Gladiator is super capable out of the box and can take you anywhere, just be mindful of the limits on payload before you start carrying everything. Cheers from the team at EPIC!

    Are the Rock Krawler triple rate 3.5 springs any good ? I was thinking about installing them on my JL392 and getting shock relocation brackets from MC. I’m trying to soften up my ride over wash board roads

      I had Rock Crawler on one of my JKs, took it to the Rubicon Trail and everything. Never had an issue with there springs for what I was using them for on that build. As for how are the springs they offer now for the new JL/JT platforms, I have no personal experience with them currently.

    What is your opinion of the accuair system for the diesel gladiator?

    • @TheEPICBeardedGinger
      @TheEPICBeardedGinger Місяць тому

      We have not had the pleasure of installing one of these systems in our shop yet, its a neat concept my only issues is when you build and off-road vehicle to travel deep into unknown areas you want to keep things simple and easy to fix or maintain, so having a system with so many working parts that could fail make me nervous.

    • @TheEPICBeardedGinger
      @TheEPICBeardedGinger 2 місяці тому +1

      Two of my favourite suspension companies actually, Metalcloaks makes maximum articulation the main focus which I love for wheeling. While I love the way Teraflex manufactures parts that tend to hold up better in harsh climates.

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  2 місяці тому

      Yes. We've proven you can wheel a full sized truck in BC, if you don't mind scratching your paint all the hell... otherwise, it's totally doable for most scenarios/situations. We just build a Power Wagon on a Carli and 37s and it goes anywhere! Cheers from the team at EPIC!

    We, the humble representatives of humanity, have a bone to pick with you Subway! Oh Subway, you've gone and done it now! You've committed the cardinal sin of sandwich-making by removing the beloved honey mustard from your menu. What were you thinking, you purveyors of bread and meat? Did you not realize that honey mustard was the glue that held our sandwiches together, the nectar of the gods that elevated our taste buds to new heights?
    Your decision to remove honey mustard is a culinary crime against humanity, a mockery of sandwich artistry, and a slap in the face to your loyal customers. You've left us with a gaping hole in our hearts and our sandwiches, a void that no other condiment can fill.
    Shame on you, Subway! You've lost your way, wandering aimlessly in the bland wilderness of sandwich mediocrity. Bring back the honey mustard, or face the wrath of the sandwich gods and the eternal disappointment of your once-devoted followers.

They replaced RB with their take on Brisket, and its just a big fat NO.. its not brisket, is shit on a bun. Next thing you know, Subway is going to go full vegan..
