i mean, its pretty close, not all deuls were to the death (some duels were to celebrate peace between kingdoms and it would be kinda weird to have people killing each other in a "deul of peace"), so its basically the same (except these guys haven't been training since they were 7 like knights did, but close enough)
@@bloodybladenum1920 the axe DEFINITELY has more head weight to it than the spear, historically you don’t typically swing spears, a spears main advantage is it’s piercing thrusts and reach. missed opportunity, that the team of the Fighters aren't dressed like squires. Just found out about this sport and I'm all here for it. SO Good and I love the sportmanship of these guys.
The fighters are wearing full steel Gauntlets without any individual figures. It is incredibly hard to pick up a weapon off the ground in them. There is tons of funny videos of knights trying to. So we stop the fight and penalize them for losing their weapons be taking points away. Also, if the person purposefully ditches the weapon to get an advantage, then we penalize them even harder. We are forcing the weapon into the equation to prevent it from being armored boxing. That being said, while on the ground, we allow fighters to drop weapons and switch to hand to hand. This simulates what would happen in history when two fighters hit the ground, they would ditch the bigger weapon and pull out a smaller dagger. Since we don't want people dead from dagger stabs, we allow for ground and pound without any weapons in the hands while on the ground.
@scaledsupremacy817 as I said in my other comment, a disarm causes a fighter to lose points. So having good disarm technique is actually encouraged. In this video the green guy disarmed the other fighter to force the judge to stop the fight and penalize the fighter who dropped his weapon
We do try to avoid them and have some strict rules about tip control on weapons. As well as weapons regulations that mitigate that. But yeah injuries like broke bones, concussions, cuts all happen
Parece divertido, por lo menos a mi me entretuvo. Aunque espero que este bien cubierto en el tema de emergencias en caso de que alguno se corte muy gravemente.
I dont understand why the dude had a spear when u can’t kill the other dude so now he’s very limited to how he can attack a dude who can grab and hit alot better with his long axe (idk I js thought it was a dumb weapon choice🤷🏻)
Disarms should be legal, only stop the fight when the fight is over. halting to rearm gives boxing vibes, and a chance for fighters to recover. In other words, it's boring to watch The name of the sport is horrible too. But with all that complaining, what a dope ass thing to get to see in 2024

3:57 You can almost see the moment the green fighter remembers "Oh yeah, I can just punch him too!" It's somehow so relatable
bro this is really underated, fresh fight, i like it
i think the problem with this fight is he cant really use his spear like a spear, doesn't have the same weight to it when you swing it like an axe has
Nah these things still hit like a truck, less lethal because they're blunt but they HURT through the armor

As cool as this was to watch, i gotta say....... the door to the cage not being locked was a HUGE L
Why not let them disarm and then fight to retrieve a weapon again, would actually make mixed martial arts skills applicable.
*In a broader sense, including grappling and disarm techniques which are aplenty in ancient martial arts
pfft casual

Its cool to get a small look into how a duel like this might have gone down in like the 14th century
In a real duel the spear would have pierce the armor and kill on the first blow
