I thought vandal was everything when I first started playing. I started playing cypher recently and realized the value of the phantom.Even mid game I will alternate depending on if I have util or not.
Don't do that, you'll end up just like me, playing both depending on "feeling" and sometimes you won't even know why but taking a vandal is absolutely impossible
Another thing about 140 dinks that finally got me to get off the vandal hype train was that the screen shake from getting dinked is so much that you’re practically dead anyway after getting dinked
There are some very controversial takes in this video, you're underestimating the differences between the two. I'd even say the damage drop-off of the phantom is probably the thing that is important to know, and not what actually matters (as per 2:00). Fire rate does matter, when spraying/running/tagging the phantom is really useful. Even if you miss the head in a close range fight against a vandal user, the fire rate alone makes it so you can win the fight even if they shoot back. Headshots aren't everything, the phantom especially can be better for body shots, and this doesn't necessarily put you in disadvantage against a vandal user since you have a better fire rate and can be more mobile. Example, if you tag a person strafing, even long range, the phantom's fire rate alone means they're most likely dead. You're also underestimating the importance of magazine size, different situations call for different tactics, it's rare that I find myself with low bullets with a vandal, but it can and will happen if you stay alive long enough. For example, spamming a wall or smoke can get you free damage or a kill, so you could spare the bullets and do it. Also, vandal spraying is a thing, tap and bursting are just shooting techniques. If this was the only reason people used it then the guardian would be more popular, since the tap and strafe is way faster. The part I disagree with you the most is the silencer, it's super important for spamming smokes, which is a thing that happens almost every single round and the silencer heavily reduces the chances to be counter-spammed. This can get you free damage or kills, saying it's not that important is not true. Also, long comment because I feel strongly about phantoms B)
Saying that firerate doesn't matter is such a comical troll take - Spraying through smokes/walls is significantly improved by faster firerate - Run/gun is actually viable with the Phantom due to the faster firerate combined with lowered recoil
@@johnbonjov1491L take when you’re close around a corner run n gunning against someone who is standing still with the phantom is very consistent and will get you the kill
Firerate does indeed matter! So with the phantom you can deadzone/strafe fast and still get 2 bullets of, unlike the vandal where you can only get 1 bullet off when deadzoning. This is even easier with the new socd. So if you have a shoot move aimingstyle, the phantom is the one to go.
Meh depends. With the vandal often times that one shot will be enough as long as you can be accurate. Yes the phantom does two shots but those shots aren’t potential one shots unless it’s short distance so it literally needs two shots to tie the vandal in that department
Interesting because I would say the opposite is much better, on entry you pick mainly up close fights for which phantom is better whereas on defense u can pick long range fights pretty easily and keep your distance
I only used the phantom for about a year and then switched to the Vandal once I saw a old tournament’s stats for each weapon with the vandal being the primary weapon. Since I’ve been watching Zander vods I’ve been using phantom on ct and vandal on t and I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit. It’s not as serious people make it out to be
I think your agent pick matters a ton as well. For example, if you are playing KJ and her turret gets a tag, then that opponent is more often than not going to be under 140 when you decide to fight them cause your turret got a small chip. So, for KJ, the phantom may be better. On the flip side an agent like fade might be a better vandal agent. She usually pushes out behind the dualist, so she might not be in one tap phantom range as often. She also has the ability to mark people, which makes the vandal a better choice because it can wall bang a bit better. She can also suppress players audio, eliminating the need for the suppressed bullets from the phantom.
Since I usually play cypher or deadlock ive just hardwired myself to play the phantom because i get loads of kills though smoke and i can punish vandals that are trying to spam with bullet tracers, also i like the spray pattern more since it has less recoil and the way it sounds just gives my confidence in gunfights.
weird tracker show me weapon stats. Vandal: 421 kills 550 deaths Phantom: 317 kills 124 deaths so that means i won more duel with phantom. But Hs is + 10% on vandal…
I use the phantom because i get a free permanent reyna ult fire rate on the vandal. Yes the phatom shoots as fast as a vandal on reyna ult. Second is i can’t count how many hs with the vandal i had that were not a kill…
phantom is only better when theres 10 abilities 3 ults going on at the same time and you dont know whats going on. but that shit barely happens in ranked so vandal >>>>>
Hey please do another part i know u said of the bullet spread and its kinda like first bullet accuracy please talk about that about the first bullet accuracy and run and gun because u can run and gun better with the phantom then with the vandel but good video keep it up!
@@E2Gtube Technically I think it's more of an automatic Guardian, but my point is that peeking a Vandal is sometimes just as risky as an OP since you will insta-die, while with the Phantom, it's not always the case.
2:39 this is terrible, less than 80% kill conversion when you headshot with phantom, that mean in a bit over 1 in 5 headshots with that gun you don't get that kill...
The reset time is slower on the phantom..? Doesn't this make like literally no sense? Knowing everything else about the guns, the last thing id assume is the phantom is slower in ANY regard besides long ranged ttk I guess... Sounds very stupid that the phantom is slower.
Slow to reset to minimum spread, but better spread when firing. Vandal rewards single shots and bursts, phantom won't let you down when you have to fight 2 or more and you've got the skill to spray transfer.
i was a vandal die hard but i recently have accepted the facts, and i am now someone who switches depending on what agent im playing

Riot needs to buff the phantom headshot range. Having a 140 on headshots is annoying.

why would they do that? just buy a vandal if you want long rane one taps

I have been a phantom player since the beginning. But that doesn't mean that I can only use that gun every time, picking up a gun is situational.
