Something change for me this episode for sure. I cruised to plat 1 with like a 67% WR and the majority of games were pleasant. Since the reset I am at like 35% WR and have had some of the worst trolls/throwers. I usually don't mind because they were so rare but its rough to now
The problem is a lot of people don’t play competively for the fun of competition they play purely to increase rank for clout. They don’t want fun competitive games they want easy stomps to gain rank as quick as possible. If a game is anything less than a stomp it’s too much for them to care.
I love a ranked status but you're completely right. it's just insecurity and ego, a good majority of people aren't even wanting an interesting game, just free wins with no improvement. This why I couldn't smurf (unless i was playhing with some low rank homies) cause it's just fucking boring to know u can win every game if u want to.
Honestly, it's best to just mute them and move on. After a while, they stop providing any useful comms anyway. Most of the time, they're probably just having a bad day, and while their behavior isn't great, this might be how they cope. So, instead of engaging, focus on keeping your own spirits and your team's high. Who knows, you might still turn things around and win. Good luck with the grind, everyone!

And I responded with "Are you going to throw if I say 'Yes'?" and they responded back with "Yes, I'm homophobic." Then proceeded to tell the other team how I am pushing my "gay agenda" on them and it was just pure toxic. Like I was nice and everything...

This is why I never criticise someone in Valorant, unless it's completely constructive and a pattern I see in them. You can't really tell what's just a mistake made in the heat of the moment, and what's actually an issue with their playstyle. So if someone makes one mistake, LET IT BE.

"throwing" as it's commonly used in multiplayer FPS games is not subjective. it needs intent to be defined. it's like a strike in fighting. someone striking an opponent isn't subjective, it's an action with intent behind it. a lot of people do misread the signs of throwing, but that does not make its meaning in this context subjective.

Gotta defend the toxic players for a second. It sucks when your Util champs don't smoke or flash, or when you peek solo every round, die, and team flames you for doing bad, but you are doing bad because they are watching you play.
This is the community Riot wants. They barely give slaps on the wrist, write some nonsense in patch notes about “steps they’re taking to improve behavior”, but then continue to do nothing about toxic players. Phone verification and month minimum bans on first offense and problems are solved but Riot needs people to buy skins on their alts.
I do commend Val devs for actually combatting toxic VC/chat but they really went downhill from the "we value competitive integrity" they said they wanted to have. Toxic throwers to smurfs make this games competitive ladder a joke when you consider how severe the rank reset is and toxic players really need more severe punishment. Unrated is sweatier at times than ranked I swear.

Which is I stopped playing the game, it's been about 5 months since I played Valorant. Compared to Counter Strike, I feel like it's a completely more out going vibe than Valorant. Thank you for showing me that we have all experienced the same thing here. People join with solo or duo queue, instalock duelist, no coms at all, cry while backseat gaming for anything not perfect, com abuse immediately and then flat-out leave or beg for forfeits. Myself and many people I know have comeback from 12-0 down. Weak mental for sure, and unfortunately just so fuckin common. You did a good job dealing with them and taking it in stride. I've been just muting them mostly.
Ranked on Valorant has been a nightmare and now I kinda don't wanna play Valorant all together without my friends because everyone is so weird in valorant and toxic idk what happened.
It just keeps getting worse.. What I don't get is how people are actually incapable of knowing they make mistakes as well and focus on improving that. Even when I'm tilted, when I entry with neon, yes, maybe sometimes I get mad that they didn't help by the initiator using their util, but it doesn't help to blame them. I just think about what I could've done better like throw my stun into a more common angle, using my wall to seperate gunfights etc. So to any duelists reading this: You are not perfect. Don't blame the team when you run onto a site of four people alone. Maybe call out some util you want your team to use to help you. But most importantly, admit your mistakes man, this is how you get hardstuck.
I genuinely love Valorant so it’s sad as hell to me to see it like this from my own gold games and even higher up. (Btw guys if you’re playing bad or having an unlucky game look for ways to encourage or help the teammates that are doing well or good. I'm glad to say that no one on Val has ever been able to out-word me. They using they mic and I'm typing in team chat? They still lose. They on they keyboard? They still lose. They screaming into the mic to "drown me out"? Guess what? I'm typing, and they can't help but read it to sate their need for a fight- So they *STILL* lose. I remember a game where there was an obvious new guy to the game playing Chamber and our Renya was just going off- Started flaming the new guy. So, I started typing and taking the heat off the Chamber (Eventually, they left Chamber alone which was my whole goal. I hope the person playing Chamber is doing well). I asked Renya if he wanted better teammates (This is a trap). He said, "Yes. Leave." I simply replied, "Or you can get better MMR. Or what? Too hard for you?" ("Rank [Enter toxic player rank/level here] and still got my level of mmr" is a good comeback too. You don't explicitly state that they are wrong [if you do they get more mad] and at the same time, you're calling them bad [But most people that force me to say that aren't smart enough to understand that]) That's not all about Renya though! There was a good 30 seconds of silence. So, I typed in, "You writing an essay or grabbing more snacks?" Guess who submitted their essay immediately after I sent that message? It's honestly embarrassing how easy it is to read them type of players. Read 'em like a book and played 'em like a fiddle. I didn't even read their message because I was too busy laughing at the irony of it all. They are banned now. To my knowledge they still are for dropping a hard R during the finishing moments of the game. Might just be lucky or most of the toxic Val community is actually really weak and are actually scared of confrontation... But I'm glad I use my toxic powers for good and saving the newbies rather than evil and becoming like those who can't face their parents with integrity and pride...
There was also a time someone told me to go take a shower (A typical insult in Val). My immediate response was going to be, "You too- And while you're there take a look in the mirror and look yourself in the eyes. When's the last time you done that? Too afraid to see what you've become?" But, I decided against it. I don't actually want to hurt they feelings now, do I?

You can definitely tell when Flex (or any player) is on tilt because of how quickly they flame or respond to flame and trolling. Early on in the video he handles the Jett kind of well, but the later games show how being on tilt hurts your ability to deal with people throwing

Blatantly running it down and inting isn't "subjective". If someone has a bad game or something, then sure, you could say that. Just cuz you're off a game or two wouldn't make you a thrower. But actually just running it down and not trying like that Neon was is actively throwing the game.
Being toxic should be a lot more serious offense in all games. They can just say something they could never tell to your face and ruin games. Gaming is fun, and losing is part of it. If you can't handle it, play single-player games or sell your console/pc.

I’m trying to improve myself, I used to crouch spam every enemy. I did feel myself getting better in the early stages, but I still botfragged. Met some supportive and some not along the way. It really depends but I can’t ignore the fact some people just make the game way more unlikable

I play Omen almost exclusively. Was Ascendant 2, got placed in Silver 3 after winning every placement and MVP'ing more than half of them. No idea why. Since then, I've had perhaps two or three games where five people have a mic. I MVP something like 3/4 of my games, have an ACS of 290, know how to smoke, know all my one ways, encourage my team, encourage good selections. The only thing I ever hear are four stacks of morons who suddenly unmute on the enemies 13th round after losing 3-13 to get yelled at by a bunch of people who peaked gold 3. Highest I got out of it was plat 2. The only thing people can do in plat 2 is aim. Zero strategy, zero comms, all about the bait. Without exaggeration, 9/10 times I have more than triple the entry frags of my next highest team mate.

This is the community Riot wants. They barely give slaps on the wrist, write some nonsense in patch notes about “steps they’re taking to improve behavior”, but then continue to do nothing about toxic players. Phone verification and month minimum bans on first offense and problems are solved but Riot needs people to buy skins on their alts.
I do commend Val devs for actually combatting toxic VC/chat but they really went downhill from the "we value competitive integrity" they said they wanted to have. Toxic throwers to smurfs make this games competitive ladder a joke when you consider how severe the rank reset is and toxic players really need more severe punishment. Unrated is sweatier at times than ranked I swear.

Im ngl, i feel like a huge reason for the toxic behavior comes down to people taking Valorant way too seriously. Like the game is their life and nothing but their life. Which is I stopped playing the game, it's been about 5 months since I played Valorant. Compared to Counter Strike, I feel like it's a completely more out going vibe than Valorant. People want to have fun in cs from my experience.

Like what do they want from me I’m playing cypher and they keep one tapping me after they break my trips. The worst toxic ppl are the ones who play better than you… Really hurt my mental. People join with solo or duo queue, instalock duelist, no coms at all, cry while backseat gaming for anything not perfect, com abuse immediately and then flat-out leave or beg for forfeits. Myself and many people I know have comeback from 12-0 down. Weak mental for sure, and unfortunately just so fuckin common. You did a good job dealing with them and taking it in stride. I've been just muting them mostly.

Ranked on Valorant has been a nightmare and now I kinda don't wanna play Valorant all together without my friends because everyone is so weird in valorant and toxic idk what happened.

What I don't get is how people are actually incapable of knowing they make mistakes as well and focus on improving that. Even when I'm tilted, when I entry with neon, yes, maybe sometimes I get mad that they didn't help by the initiator using their util, but it doesn't help to blame them. I just think about what I could've done better like throw my stun into a more common angle, using my wall to seperate gunfights etc.
So to any duelists reading this:
You are not perfect. Don't blame the team when you run onto a site of four people alone. Maybe call out some util you want your team to use to help you. But most importantly, admit your mistakes man, this is how you get hardstuck.

I'm glad to say that no one on Val has ever been able to out-word me. They using they mic and I'm typing in team chat? They still lose. They on they keyboard? They still lose. They screaming into the mic to "drown me out"? Guess what? I'm typing, and they can't help but read it to sate their need for a fight- So they *STILL* lose.
I remember a game where there was an obvious new guy to the game playing Chamber and our Renya was just going off- Started flaming the new guy. So, I started typing and taking the heat off the Chamber (Eventually, they left Chamber alone which was my whole goal. I hope the person playing Chamber is doing well).
I asked Renya if he wanted better teammates (This is a trap). He said, "Yes. Leave." I simply replied, "Or you can get better MMR. Or what? Too hard for you?"

You don't explicitly state that they are wrong [if you do they get more mad] and at the same time, you're calling them bad [But most people that force me to say that aren't smart enough to understand that])
That's not all about Renya though! There was a good 30 seconds of silence. So, I typed in, "You writing an essay or grabbing more snacks?" Guess who submitted their essay immediately after I sent that message? It's honestly embarrassing how easy it is to read them type of players. Read 'em like a book and played 'em like a fiddle. I didn't even read their message because I was too busy laughing at the irony of it all.
They are banned now. To my knowledge they still are for dropping a hard R during the finishing moments of the game.
Might just be lucky or most of the toxic Val community is actually really weak and are actually scared of confrontation... But I'm glad I use my toxic powers for good and saving the newbies rather than evil and becoming like those who can't face their parents with integrity and pride...

I’m trying to improve myself, I used to crouch spam every enemy. I did feel myself getting better in the early stages, but I still botfragged. Met some supportive and some not along the way. It really depends but I can’t ignore the fact some people just make the game way more unlikable

The fact that this happens across the world is insane.
I play Omen almost exclusively. Was Ascendant 2, got placed in Silver 3 after winning every placement and MVP'ing more than half of them. No idea why. Since then, I've had perhaps two or three games where five people have a mic. I MVP something like 3/4 of my games, have an ACS of 290, know how to smoke, know all my one ways, encourage my team, encourage good selections. The only thing I ever hear are four stacks of morons who suddenly unmute on the enemies 13th round after losing 3-13 to get yelled at by a bunch of people who peaked gold 3. Highest I got out of it was plat 2. The only thing people can do in plat 2 is aim. Zero strategy, zero comms, all about the bait. Without exaggeration, 9/10 times I have more than triple the entry frags of my next highest team mate.
The Jett being 2 and 8 and calling everyone bad is wild.
