I remember choyeon! I just listened to a couple of songs from Bugaboo right now and they’re actually good! Her situation was completely unnecessary. So many people knew who she was after produce 48, and then more ppl after bugaboo debuted. She could have been a popular streamer if she didn’t think the idol life was for her. Heck, she could have gone on another survival show to gain more notoriety to support her streaming!

The sad reality of K-pop survival shows is that eliminated means failure... mostly. In Indonesian survival shows, specifically Indonesian Idol, being eliminated just means the start of your career in the music industry. While this is true for Choyeon, who joined bugAboo after Produce 48, her group was short lived, and Choyeon is now a freelance performer.

The main difference is that Indonesia doesn't have idol culture if we put it simply. Indonesia Idol is more comparable to something like The Voice Korea.
Omg choyeon!! I haven’t heard from her ever since bugaboo!! I loved her during produce!! I was SOOO sad when she got eliminated , after i heard she debuted in a new group , i went to stan bugaboo , their debut song was SO good , like EXTREMELY , it was iconic , im so happy that she is atleast STILL performing , it might not be what she exactly wanted and deserved , but atleast we can still see her and hear from her every now and then!!
I knew it was Choyeon when I saw the miniature, I was a huge fan of Bugaboo and I still support the girls. 🩷💞 I really wish for her success, she’s so talented and a great person, even tho she isn’t an idol anymore.
Through the glitz and glamour of kpop, you forget that a majority of people who trained to be idols had to give up their dreams. I’d say 1% makes it. And a lot of them suffer because of fans even if they do make it. I’m glad she found a job she liked, where she could perform and even make money from advertisements. You know you can never actually feel how someone feels, whether it’s their dream withering away, or them feeling ashamed at how they are getting recognized while working a job. But I can feel empathic for them. And I can also feel glad that they found something they enjoy doing even if it wasn’t their dream job. So I’m glad she’s doing well, and making a living while still performing. I mean even some famous idols don’t get paid, so if she’s getting money, while being able to live a life away from the kpop standards, aka being able to date freely, why not? A lot of kpop idols who do have 7-8 year careers, with even a couple of million views on music videos don’t pay off their debt until several years later. I’m thinking of Ladies code for example. They had a decent fanbase, a couple hundred thousand subscribers, got a couple of million of views on UA-cam, and on streaming. But we’re paying off their debt several years after leaving their company and being on hiatus. This girl, gets to earn money, date, and even perform. Good job.
