Having, like you, traveled the world, it is absolutely RIDICULOUS that there aren't better options at the airports in US. I'm so happy to live in Taiwan where I'm not bombarded with offensive rip-offs everywhere I look.
The US is the absolute worst when it comes to prepaid sims. So when I travel to the US, I usually buy it online - Mint or US Mobile - they both have esims, and you can buy a month. I find those 2 the most economical. You can set it up before you leave.
My understanding is that eSIM are basically for data, not for phone calls like a physical SIM card. Also, airports are the most expensive place to purchase SIM cards. Go to a phone store for better pricing.
Not everyone has a E sim card for their iPhone I think it’s better cause u don’t have to use your data roaming and yes while your in the airport you’ll have free Wi-Fi but as soon as you leave get a taxi Uber or shuttle bus you are not going to have any service to make a call or internet and I buy the 80 one it last for a month
Google fi is great!!! Has worked for me in over 50 counties already. I land and my phone works as I disembark the plan. None of that nonsense of looking for SIM cards for every country. What problem did you have with it? By the way nice Rimowa!
Those prices in the airport are pretty much a scam. If your phone has ESIM, I would reccomend US Mobile. If not, I would reccomend going to a grocery/convinence store and getting a TracFone prepaid sim.
Yes agreed. Airport sim cards are really expensive. Simply get an esim for USA: www.traveltomtom.net/destinations/north-america/usa/best-esim-cards-for-usa
MVNO sim cards are the cheapest. Convienence stores like 7-11 sell prepaid sim cards and grocery stores too. Us airports are the worst place to buy sim cards.
@@TravelTomTom any Tmobile or AT&T store, while you walk in the city you can go to the store and pay $40 for unlimited data, talk and text. NEVER BUY SIM in airports. Every time I travel to a new country I buy the sim in the city and I save lot of money.
@andresd90 Yo I'm going there in August but still I'm mentally preparing myself right now for this because why not... Has anything changed since you wrote this comment? Or is it still better to go to a local store?
I wish I've watched this before my trip to NYC, I bought the sim card for JFK airport, paid 20 USD and only lasted for 30 minutes or less, total scam....(I went to AT&T later on and paid 40USD for 5GB)
My phone doesn's support esim cards and there seem to be no deliveries of international sim cards in my country (Zimbabwe)...looks like I have no choice but to buy a prepaid sim at JFK :(
Yes but how does a tourist get to a Wallmart? Then they need to take a taxi which costs them another fortune. Not recommended for a tourist in my opinion.
I do not know too much about uber even though I live in the united states never had had to use it because I have always had a car and from a very very small town

Google Fi is a good suggestion
Nope I disagree, I had a lot of problems with it as I was trying it out for my blog and then gave up on it.

Hello, I would like to ask how to choose transportation from JFK to Manhattan. What is advantageous. thank you for the advice
I want to also know how :)

Hi Tom , esim works in LAX airport ?
Just so people will know, E-Sim cards are basically for data only. A physical sim card will give you phone & data.
Safe travels traveltomtom
Thank you
Thank you for this vidéo.
Very useful.
How to get to the city from the airport with minimum budget? (Metro, bus?)
Yes there is a possibility to take the bus/metro. But when you arrive at like 01.00 am or after that becomes a little difficult. But still possible…
Thank you for such an informative vlog!

In New york City, if you go to the store, you get it for 40 dollars unlimited everything

But eSIM is not for all kind of phones
