No manually actuated clutch and no mandatory gear selection required at all times=no manual. By many peoples standards. But that might be in the future with a T56 magnum. The reprogramming will be a concern as the trans functions are pretty heavily integrated into the cluster and functionality of the car.

@@AubreyHP I own one, the one thing I notice when I'm driving mine is all of the cars with the luxury BS is in my rear mirror. 🤔 I wonder why? Maybe lack of horsepower, huh.
I believe your criticism is either superficial or misplaced. You also fail to consider value for the dollar, a metric by which the GT500 is the King. Watch some of the reviews by excellent European commentators such Henry Catchpole. They love this car. As for heat soak, Ford has stated the engine can deliver full power under any ambient temperature provided the car is moving at or above 40 mph. If you are stuck in slow moving traffic you are not demanding 760 hp and are therefore burning comparatively little fuel and generating very little heat. As others have pointed out, the Tremec DCT, which is first rate, is not an automatic transmission in the conventional sense. I own a GT350 and have a GT500 on order with a late September build. A few people have asked if I stepped up to the GT500 because I was not satisfied with the GT350. Not at all. I ordered the GT500 because I am so pleased with the GT350. I will keep both vehicles.
Click bait BS. It’s a Mustang not a Porsche. It’s AFFORDABLE. I had a $120k 992 Porsche that was cheap feeling and a peg board for options. I’ll take the GT500 that is way more special than a base PDK Carrera. $114k for a full optioned Heritage Edition Gt500 with hand-pained strips and carbon fiber wheels is a BARGAIN.
I personally wouldn’t mind the ford bargain bin parts interior if the fucking dealerships didn’t mark the MSRP up by almost $20,000 - $30,000. When you buy a mustang GT500 for actual MSRP, the cheap looking interior space is whatever, because you’re buying this for the performance anyways. But when you’re spending luxury German car money because of dealer markups, that’s when you have to take a moment to pause on buying this car.
The Markups are outrageous. Being I (H.P.) worked in a few dealer groups that sold Limited run vehicles I was proud that we undercut every dealer by just selling at msrp+incentives, + tint and door edge guards (we'd discount those a bit if we had to). I think its time to correct dealer groups actions a bit. But another reason why we prefer to buy preowned.

I only paid 88k for mine with the carbon fiber track package.(10k of discounts) The car has the performance stats of cars well over twice the price, the BMW he compared it to starts at 139k and less hp, that's 40k+ in savings.(why didn't he buy the BMW?) Take the money you saved and put it into the car, that's what anyone with a bit of common sense would do. Instead of complaining.
Ford wanted to make the fastest gt500 ever and that’s why it’s an auto. Buy a gt350 if you complain about the shifter. I bought the gt500 just for the auto
The fastest gt500 can be made regardless of transmission. And they knew by adding an automatic transmission it would appeal to all of the clientele who cannot comfortably operate a manual transmission to its peak capability. Should have came with an option for manual.
@@AubreyHP wrong - stress tests were performed with both gearboxes, the dct smokes the average shift time of any manual transmission, not just the human element, but the single shaft vs parallel shaft of the dct… contact tremec and they pull put you under the table with an argument like that.
I think the gt350 is really the better car anyway🤷🏼
@@treepviews9004 GT 350 is lighter and handles great, however it has no power under 4,500 rpm which makes low end grunt non existent. It is also famous for breaking oil pump gears and spinning connecting rod bearings.
@@metroplex3k He’s not saying the manual is faster than the dct. He’s saying that it still would have been he fastest Shelby gt500 to date without the auto. Everything else was true as well. Should have had the option.
Nope. I paid $98K for a CFTP and it was a bargain. Looks great, drives better. Best brakes in its class.
The only thing I hate about this car is I can’t get it yet
I do agree with the fact they could spiff it up with some fun adds like the interior lighting and exterior trim.
Good review, you have to send it back to Shelby to get a very nice interior. Carbon fiber a pillars with gauges, and a cool know for gear selection would be great!
A dark horse with a super snake wide body kit is much more modern but I'd love to have a purple or green track pack in my stable
Anyone with a gt500 knows the car is easy to heat soak in traffic. Just drive conservatively in the city and you’ll be fine. All of your other gripes seem pretty minimal compared to the things that tsb’s cover like the s/c pulley and the trans cooler placement but to each is their own.
I'm looking into a gt500. I didn't know heat soak was an issue. Its an issue i have with my c7 z06. Above 90°F and a few hard acceleration pulls and the car starts to overheat. It sucks.
No manual transmission option is what I would think is the worst part about this car.
I owe one personally don't understand what all these not having a manual transmission is rubbish that DCT transmission is awesome
Again. The most awesome DCT. But half the fun is lost from not manually doing it yourself
if you're complaining they don't also put a man pedal in the car With a DCT, you should sell it. btw, it is a manual transmission.
No manually actuated clutch and no mandatory gear selection required at all times=no manual. By many peoples standards. But that might be in the future with a T56 magnum. The reprogramming will be a concern as the trans functions are pretty heavily integrated into the cluster and functionality of the car.
Oh no! No illuminated door sills! Oh the humanity! The seats….meh. 2 minutes later…I love these Recarro seats. WTF?
Why didn’t you get the GT 350 if you wanna row your own gears?
if you had to warranty an engine against idiots overheating the car you to would build in safeguards , hence the timing fuel trims and injector pulse with reductions when the PCM sees the engine is hot , and as you know the ideal temp for a car is between 56 and 66 degrees outside air temp
I am a Mopar guy but the GT500 is absolutely gorgeous however being a big and tall dude they have no leg room for me unfortunately
Lol the u turn hack fixes many problems!! No doubt if it had a manual trans available I would likely own one. For me it’s a deal breaker.
I've always had this question, especially after watch a lot of your content.
What if a customer needs to leave their car parked somewhere?
Do you offer that for them?
Occasionally we do get asked to leave a vehicle and often we have the available space as our vehicles never sit for more than 6-12 hours at a time. But we prefer not to as we clarify to them we will not be responsible for their vehicle in that time.
@@AubreyHP wow 6 to 12 hrs I have to get on your level lol
Another question, have there been picky customers where they comment on minor flaws of your cars?
You should make on video on picky/ weird customers.
@@RB-es1vx we are very transparent about the dents dings and scratches in the descriptions of our vehicles, and we do strive to make them less noticable and acceptable. But that doesn't stop people from being snooty about door dings on a 15 year old vehicle. 🙃 Your idea is going on the board!
So many air wents and it gets hot 😂😂
Thats a beautiful car.. I love that they make them..
Illuminated sills? I pulled em off my GT and put the ford performance ones just too much silver/chrome going on … looked cheap
If computer is telling that its getting hot. Its safety way of overheating saves the motor!
I had a 2016 EcoBoost and if you investigate how HOT a Turbo gets. Turbos get to be 1,875 degrees Farenheight. They Mount them next to the Engine at 1/8 " inch between them. Without a Heat Sheild, and to mount it so Close to the engine block, which shouldn't get to 250+.. Thus, anything with a Turbo is a Scam 2 engine replacements be 60K miles. At the 3 engine no reimbursement for Rental for 2 months... Oh yeah that means you can afford this.
I agree the Worse thing about the GT500 than a GT350 or a Mach1 Handling Pack, because of the Automatic Paddle Shifter, which makes me Sleepy on long Road Trips.
I was Offered a GT500 and I told the Sales guy it could cost $20,000 less than the Mach1 Handling Pack, and the GT500 could have twice the Horse Power.. it is less valuable to me than anything with the 3rd Pedal Manual Transmission..
I bought the Best car even better than Saleen or Shelby America, because there Product Starts Life as a Base Mustang GT. White my 2022 Roush Mustang is an Up-tuned Ford Mach1 Handling Package. It has the Rev-Match (No Lift Shift on the Accelerator Pedal ) Tremec 6-Speed Manual Transmission. MagneRide Suspension, and no Matter how Hard you take a Corner it Lean or it won't Dip under Hard Braking. It also has Intercooled Limited Slip Rear Torsen Differential ( same one in Your GT500 Differential.
I had recently Opened her up in the Canyons and She Drives Like a Dream. Its White and Traffic Authorities don't look at it I had the Blac EcoTragic and they were all over it wanting to find a Reason to pull me over. 👨🏻👍🏻🏎🏎🏁🏁🚩🚩🌲🌲⛰⛰
heres my 5 "before" I watch your video
1= cheap interior especially speaker covers
2= body roll (went flying)
3= ugly plastic aero accents (front splitter, wickers etc)
4= standard rims are incredibly hard to clean
5= no room in rear for normal size passengers
ok now I watch your *5 Things We HATE About Our Shelby GT500*
What performance car would you recommend if any?
GT500 BABY!:))LOL
I heard that....how daaaaaare you?!
Awwww. What a cute couple pretending to know jack shit about cars. Bless their hearts.
So you think we’re cute?😘
True they have no clue.i own a track pack and had the base and this car rocks! Mind blowing on track

That GT500 is amazing tho
I would love to comment, as you politely asked, regarding your HATES about the 2020 GT500. Yet, if I did. Even in a polite and fun manner. When I was finished, Id look like a troll & you would never acknowledge another post of ours again.
I too, am a lifetime Mustang owner.
Including Many various decades, & specialty Ford stangs. My opinions would sound like arguments. Because I believe your perspective of the 'Hates' are coming from an enthusiast (urself & your significant other) appear to lack the vast perfcar experience you've already claimed to have attained, in this video, or others, as a seasoned veteran Mustang owner & enthusiasts. Which you are. Yes. Just feel my view of over 50% of complaints, are viewed rather different from our perspective.
So, instead of leaving the comment you asked for. I prefer to leave a more positive comment, & say I hope you come to love your car more, that has 5 things you hate about it. To us, HATE is a very strong word. We try not to use it ourselves much in commenting or writing, or in verbage among pple in general. To us its always beed a 4 letter word, as I was raised from a kid.
But we did use it here, due to the topic at hand. Thx for great content.
Keep it up! 💯 % We are not gonna say what we think about your own opinions.
Funny thou. U never felt the heat from a turbo car I suppose, huh?
The interior is solid (minus that knob) and you pay for the engine
I love the DCT in my 22. My only complaint would be that the car is a 2022 (mine), why couldn't Ford toss a few LED's for the interior lights. Few bucks, come on.
The dark horse sounds better 😅
I love your channel
But, you noticed those things after you purchased the vehicle??
Yes some of it and others I didn't until we were driving.
@@AubreyHP oh okay
I'm sorry if I sound like a smartass
I guess I wouldn't noticed all the details as well
@@EsgarSalinas no worries. Things like faux leather dash wasn't so much as an oversight but when you spend enough seat time in the car you begin to notice the little things. The ambient lighting was a weird thing for the car NOT to come with being that it's available in every other model of mustang. And became noticeable only at night.
@@AubreyHP
I own one, the one thing I notice when I'm driving mine is all of the cars with the luxury BS is in my rear mirror. 🤔 I wonder why? Maybe lack of horsepower, huh.
The EXHAUST note is more than worth any perceived shortcomings.
A turbo makes hot too so you dont know jack about high performance. Cause a turbo will melt itself and cause some major engine damage
Is not the top trim the top GT500 is the CFTP.
If you hate it that much, give it to me and you’ll see that I am a true Mustang enthusiast.
Question if you have this much HATE about the 500, why did you buy it???
so we could make videos like this
Click bait BS.
Turn off esp, it makes u-turn easy 😂
What I really hate about this car is the price.
Great price for what ur getting
The gt350 is more your style I believe, the gt500 is more like a drag car
Excellent! No surprises though. Its FORD!
"I discovered this u-turn hack in the GT 500" 😜 you're hilarious HP 🤣
Easy, sell it then....but a Yugo
Jokes on you. H.P. would love a Yugo!
Bro alotvof crying from you about how much u hate the car...crazy I had a basic one then got the track pack and I track it 3 times a month. U should try going to the track and you won't hate it anymore. And what little ford has a dual clutch. Your not very informed just spit stuff out
don't care about the 5 things COBRA bad ass car
OK car guy I'll let you in on a little secret the fender vent on a 2020 G T350 is to let the air out of the wheel well so it's not a foe it's a functional
I'm sure people had stuff to say about the interior of the c6 zr1 and 13-14 gt500 too. 😂😂😂
This is like someone buying a jeep wrangler and expecting it to drive like a 4 runner .
Jokes on you because we used to have a Jeep and we didn't like it because it didn't drive like our 4runner lol
Like I said buying a jeep expecting a nice ride lol
@AubreyHP nice car for sure 👍👍
Decent gripes, but I love it!
🤗🤗🤗
It's a muscle car not a luxury car
Wow wrong people to do a gt500 review. Find a bmw.
well, we don't own a BMW
Good call there's things about my cobra I don't like but it is a manual 😊
You 100% right bro
Nice ride thats a dream car for me
0:34 - Bruh, I need that shirt for my next 4th of July party. 👏
This is not a real video stop nick picking. Im sure you didn't buy the car sight unseen, so you knew all this before purchasing.
Who buys a racecar and wants Alcantara inside the interior??? 🤣
Race cars don't come with radios/ac/and back seats.
im sorry but most of your complaints you knew or should have known when you purchased it. Other than the heat soak you mentioned
Your money goes into the time and efforts into the performance of this racecar. I just wanna go, idc about a look. 😂
I forwarded your video to my Friend who use to work for Carrol Shelby and Eric Saleen, I think she is still on the board . I enjoyed the video and also love Shelby trucks
Thank you very much! One of the true reasons I loved the saleens is it is cosmetically what you look for in a refined mustang and performance was never left out.
Hey I’m HP I’m a big car guy….Maury determined that was a lie.
I am confused, why did u buy this car?
because we wanted to complain about it
Listening to this guy gripe about the engineering in the GT500 is making me cry... and I'm certain I may have lost some brain cells...
You seem a bit fussy
Did ford get the gt 350 overheating straightened out?
OK OK... would YOU want 760 hp to shift manually? My friend has a ZL1 with what 650 manual, and he said that is really shady... and he does autoX semi professionally... so, take that as you want.
You forget AWD option
Swap you a stock 2017 GT and you can complain about it as much as you want
I agree with you! A manual should have been offered. It would also be more collectible and reliable in the long run. Sweet ‘Stang!
HJP performance offers a transmission retrofit with a software upgrade so you didn't lose any of the functions. (Works great)
Let’s hear that thing roar! Get that camera in the inside and take it for a drive😂
he's a mustache guy not a moooostang guy
What wheels are those?
Their ugly as fuck those rims.lol
Just another click baiting video. If I test drove a car and didn't like it I wouldn't buy it . I have a twenty twenty two shelby g t five hundred it's awesome
who said he didn't like it?
First mistake: “Our”
Joint bank accounts 🤷♀️
Add a $200 oil change to your list if you're not doing it yourself. 10 QTS of oil baby
11qts 5W50 at that! 3 choices of oil and that's it! Maserati took 8qts of special euro blend and with the filter I can see this somehow being very near the same cost.
@@AubreyHP Sheesh!
Ferrari said god gave us 2 hands and 2 feet to drive stick and horses pull carts they dont push.
mine is totally badass
Your right about the interior and sound system is terrible. I can’t believe no heated steering wheel and no ambient lighting or the illuminated door sills ! For almost $100k that’s absolutely ridiculous
The bang and Olufsen is a significant step above the standard stereo. But the things that differentiate the top trim shouldn't just be performance capability.
Mine has the tech pack and the sound system is awesome. Should have spent the extra 1500 bucks i guess.
If ur buying this car ur buying if for the name heritage history and ofc engine, ur gonna be using it on the track and not as a daily, if u want luxury don’t even look its way and buy something else
If you want luxury buy a Cadillac, Mercedes, BMW or some other wimp-mobile.
I would agree ambient lighting and illuminated door sills should have been in a car that cost this much money.
I love it ❤ I will be getting back in contact with u ,it may be week or 2 ,I got a lot going on ,thank u your time😊
What is camaro owner @ ?
Ain’t shit wrong wit Shelby in my eyes
OUR car? Whos name is on the ownership?
No offense you are complaining about the wrong things. Gt500 has always been about the power, sound and ability. Enjoy it for what it is. I owned a grabber orange 07 gt500 and loved it! Since u hate it so much sell it and let a real person enjoy it
They should of made a megazilla mustang and kept Shelby as Shelby 🐍
I would of made 7.3 Godzilla 🦖 mustang and add the t-rex for the symbol
