I'm 75 yrs old. First started riding on these old IND Subway "R"units in about 1957, catching a "D" train at Delancey St station. They scared me to death as a first time ride, then gradually fell in love wirh them as I ride them more. Always, wondered, as a transit buff, what it would be like to operate a train of these wonderful old card as a TA motorman/operator. This was a pretty great insight video to give an old die-hard fan like myself enough procured first-hand knowledge on how to "motor" these old vintage cars!! Always loved, once I understood the mechanics of them, how/why the traction motors growled, groaned, roared, as they accelerated up to speed!! Really couldn't hear that much in the video. At one time, with my vise-like memory, had every niance of electro-pleumatic sounds memorized, right down to the WABCO compressors these cars used!! Thsnk yiu all very very much!! Sam A.
