I was there either in 96 or 97. Amazing looking at that yard in Port Jervis how abandoned it looks. So much track gone. That place was hopping back in the day.
Some great shots!! I'm pretty sure I was standing next to you at Moodna! Such a shame she's not running anymore, there was nothing like standing next to the tracks with her speeding by unassisted at 80 MPH
Ah ty my dear husband took me on this as my grandfather rip got me hooked on trains he was master mechanic steamers kingsland shops lyndhurst nj Delaware Lackawanna and western rr or delayed late and weary the moodna viaduct the otisville tunnel led by a steamers is a great thing
I own the headlight from steam engine #1116 out of the port Morris New Jersey yard. The 462 was a passenger train built in 1922 and retired in 1953. (GREAT VIDEO)
The 614 wasn't actually native to NJ, The main steam power that had a prominent place in the garden state were the CNJ Erie and Lackawanna Railroads as their mainlines terminated at the Hudson front.

I wanna take a moment to mention it's equipped with a Reading 6 Chime
I hope she’ll return one day.
Well well well
Apparently, she is getting restored. Someone completely funded it, and she is getting restored at Strasburg of all places. Pretty awesome.
As of November 2024, she is heading to the Strasburg Rail Road to be restored to operating condition.
My wife and I had the pleasure of being on one of these trips. She will return to steam soon.
Awesome! I wish I saw this locomotive in 1996 at the age of 22.

Another fantastic locomotive!!! You were extremely fortunate to have gotten to see so many mainline steamers. How did you get to see so many?
