I bought one that you plug into either your smartphone, tablet or laptop, and I must say, for the price, you can't beat it, comes with a few dif attachments, a magnet tip, a 45 degree mirror lense to see the sides of whatever it is you're working on bc it just has the front facing camera, but it has an adjustable light record or take pics of whatever you're looking at.... And it was less than 35$ for a 30 foot scope, and only 20 for the 15' scope.... Comes with 3 dif style plugs, mini usb, type C, & even apple! So yeah, for the $, I think it's hard to beat!
I do have one of those, and yes they are great!
As a DIYer this XTool D7S is intriguing, but for a few bucks more I'm leaning towards the Launch X431 CRP919EBT. Better hardware, warranty, wireless, and mechanics seem to have a good history with Launch as a secondary to Snap-On. In the $300-400 range there aren't too many competitors that aren't outdated with regards to hardware or Android OS version.
Oh for sure! I see you coming from with that. That launch unit has VAG guided Component testing and it is Bluetooth. But the thing that XTOOL really shines for is a key programming capabilities. Even as my limited experience as a DIYer, I have seen cars I could not pull pen codes with my $1,200 scan tool that I easily could with my four $500 XTOOL. All in all pretty much no matter which scan tool you get, you're going to be happy.
If I didn't already have a Depstech borescope, that would be a nice add-on. Picture quality looks good on the 7" screen.
Yes, it was better than I expected. I'm pretty happy with it.
Especially bc I do not work on cars for others, just for me and my son & his old lady, but I don't mind helping anyone, but I don't know enough to really get into someone else's auto. But if we mess up one of our cars, it's no big deal bc it belongs to us! But I don't work on cars unless we break one, so I didn't see the need in spending all that extra $ for practically the same thing

It should work with any D7 model even the D7W, you can always return easily if you order it from Amazon if it doesn't work out for you.
