  • If you turn your Transit wipers on to the intermittent setting and they only wipe once, even in a downpour, the rain sensor may be defective or simply loose. In this video, I show how to easily access the rain sensor. In my case, it seems things were just a bit loose and securing it seems to have fixed it for me. I also show how to bypass it completely to get basic intermittent function without the rain sensing and variability.

You are a life saver (and by life I mean I can now no longer be extremely annoyed by this faulty wiper scenario) thank you!!!

Thank you cause I hate the variable speed of the rain sensing wipers. Will be doing that tomorrow morning

Driving down the interstate, I watched your video and removed the cover only to see the sensor FALL OUT. It also had a loose connection. Thanks for the video, duct tape to the rescue!

This looks a little different, but it works for a 2010 Expedition Limited too. Just bought one and the same symptoms. Turn on intermittent and wipes once and stops. No matter what intermittent speed. When changing speeds, it would wipe once again and stop. Mine was a separate unit on the right side of the rearview mirror. Easy to get to and just pop off the cover. Just unplugged it and it went to manual and works fine. I prefer it that way anyway. Thought I had a bigger issue but was a simple work around.

You could even put a switch in the goider thing that may even change the auto wipers to intermittent wipers when you switch it and it will be easier after that.

Good video, running the wipers with a dry windshield is hard on the mechanism.

True, it's not something I would recommend, but I did for the video to demonstrate the results.
