    The best thing about Kennedy Steve is how chill he is with the foreign pilots. It seems like the majority of ATC’s that get posted on channels like these get frustrated right away. But he always seems to stay so composed with them

    • @tomhekker
      @tomhekker Рік тому +6

      Yeah his change in tone when he hears a foreign pilot is great. It’s way better than the arguing you hear between ATC in the US and pilots who don’t speak native English, with US ATC not using standard phraseology.

    Like how quickly he adapted the instructions to the Turkish after the initial bad read back.

    • @jaysmith1408
      @jaysmith1408 4 роки тому +24

      Jeff Craig he could either
      A) attempt with questionable success to have them get it right
      OR
      B) amend to a far shorter, more straightforward route

      I noticed that! Steve was a master of communication, and he did it with warmth and wit. I'm sure the pilots miss him.

    5:17 Not surprising Flagship didn't get the message in time...Delta 474 appears to be confused @4:26 and tells "company" (most likely dispatch in Atlanta) that Chicago is ground stopped. While Delta dispatch could certainly call Flagship dispatch in Minneapolis and pass on the message, it would take a lot longer than if Delta 474 had just called ramp operations (which is what I think Steve was getting at).

    0:38 Do you think the tug drivers ever come up with a creative response to that question? Like "Disneyland! But I'd settle for Mika-Alpha."

    • @MrJAa85
      @MrJAa85 7 років тому +19

      Haha, I was just thinking the same thing! I would totally do that if I were a Tug driver there :p I mean, working with a Ground controller like that, you have like endless possibilities for awesome comebacks :D And he would probably love it too ^^

      +H89SA Maybe that's it. I was wondering a little why Steve tried giving him such a complicated instruction, but if they're usually good then that explains it. The poor pilot was clearly floundering on the readback--his relief when Steve recognized the problem and simplified things was pretty funny (totally understandable, but still funny).

      @H89SA  9 років тому +4

    What do “shortened” and “short” mean?

    • @chaoz1666
      @chaoz1666 4 роки тому +2

      Well shortened is always used in relation to runway desginations and basically means that you are not going to use the full runway but a "shortened" part because you taxi onto the runway and then take off. "short" is usually used in connection with "hold" and basically means "stop there"

      A 'Heavy' is an aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of 300,000 lbs or more. The 'Super' designation is given to the Airbus A380 (MTOW 1.2m lbs) and Antonov AN-225 (MTOW 1.4m lbs).

      +Air Plane He's probably on the "other" side of the airport, which antenna of the guy who sends feed to liveatc can't pick up. Antenna on tug vehicle isn't that strong, they usually work in 2-3km area.

    • @fastmovingblip
