I recently restored the same jukebox that was used on the show. It is a 1960 Rock-ola model 1485, known as the Tempo II. It held 100 45rpm records and played 200 selections (both sides). The sound quality of this model was sensational so I am not surprised they used it on the show to play the songs to be evaluated by the panel. It was Rock-ola's first stereophonic jukebox and used a 25 watt amplifier. Rock-ola used 2 12" Jensen woofers for the bass response including a high-efficiency horn speaker in the center of the cabinet that captured the mid-range and high notes. The design of the cabinet reflected the influence of the automobiles at the time. Cool.
Can't watch this clip without comparing it to Benny Hill's 'Soap Box Jury' in which he played David Jacobs, all four panellists and several member of the audience. Never bettered.
how wonderfully exciting the sixties were ha ha ..its all relative and the sixties were revolutionary after the repressive 50's the real madness didnt start until 1967 and then it was all done by 1975
Sad to hear the great David Jacobs died late last night at the age of 84! 2'nd Sept 2013 RIP! Looking at the clip above, I see a very young David MccALlum in the panel! PIP man!
Please do you have a video clip of Rick Nelson & Annette Funicello & Sandra Dee on this show ? if so that some of us fans would like to see it and Thank you. Have a safe, and good weekend!!
I've seen George (and possibly John) Beatle on an old Juke Box Jury clip on UA-cam. I remember one of the songs reviewed was Elvis's 'Good Luck Charm', and George didn't like it.
I'd rather watch the delightful Jill Ireland than that old shrew Shazza Osbourne's latest face lift and the Irish gobs***e on X-Factor claiming some manufactured new boy band is the best thing since The Beatles.
Nice attitude! Yes, why don't you try Wiki. I'll leave your out-of-line comment posted so others can see the type of person you are. Or, after you research wiki (I didn't need to, I've read too many Beatle books!), you can apologize and I'll take your comment down.
Christ they were easily pleased back then, i thought it was crap but they where not supposed to say crap on TV even if the word crap is in the dictionary lol
wrong again... they were the quarrymen in 1960 and the silver beetles when in hambourg germany, they never became the BEATLES till feb 1962 when they signed up with brian epstein..... i will accept your apology......
@The Skeptic, so you're 66? That makes your comment more credible than anyone else? The music doesn't matter much anymore, no do people's appearances. They have no respect for themselves or the music. They dress like trash and the music is trash. That sounds like real progress. And I'm 34.
You spelled Hamburg wrong. You're giving your grandchildren misinformation. And instead of arguing with me, do a wee bit of research. It's not difficult.
David McCallum now gone at the ripe old age of 90. RIP
Yes! What fun to see such a young David. I’m an original UNCLE fan and loved him as Dickie as well. He will be missed.
This takes me back..wow. where has the time gone..

The lovely Jill Ireland. She has a quality like Diana Princess Of Wales.

The Beatles appeared on this show as well. Do you know if any of that footage still exists?
Yes, they were. It's easy to verify for yourself.
The Beatle footage sadly does not exist. :(
I don’t think they had widescreen in the 60’s…

Nina was like a Greek goddess.
I didn't mean in 1960. The Beatles appeared in '63 and I was simply asking if any footage of their apperence still existed.
No video....but here's the audio. ua-cam.com/video/yQ1ws875VIY/v-deo.html
where do you live.... where are you from... i was there... so comment on that......
Why the hell did they not say Pinky and Perky needed a trip to the abbotoir.
I'd rather watch the delightful Jill Ireland than that old shrew Shazza Osbourne's latest face lift and the Irish gobs***e on X-Factor claiming some manufactured new boy band is the best thing since The Beatles.
Mr Lemmon just takes things too literally. When life sends you a Lemmon you are supposed to make Lemmonade.
Jill Ireland died so young, and Frederik got into a drug gang and was shot dead ! Nina was gorgeous to me as a teenager !!
The guy at 1m20s worries me... hehehehe

Oh yeah gods!!! The stinking pigs, thankfully it was not a hit. I was on there in 1966.
What has racism got to do with this music...i am amazed at the poison minds of some...

Sorry, no. I pretty sure there are no other surviving episodes except this one.
the beatles were not together in 1960.......
Christ they were easily pleased back then, i thought it was crap but they where not supposed to say crap on TV even if the word crap is in the dictionary lol

They were Johnny And The Hurricanes in 1962, so wrong again.
Nina Fred after puff

Wow! That's sad. I'll wait for someone else to chime in here to tell you how wrong you are.
