- Making of Varalakshmi ammavari face for Kalasam:
Its a tradition to do Varalakshmi pooja on friday of Sravana maasam by placing a kalash or kalasham with coconut and leaves to decorate it as varalakshmi devi in southern part of India. Here's a video on how to make or create a face on coconut for the pooja and later, its decorated with saree jewellery etc.
Material Needed are:
Un-husked coconut
Acrylic colors and brush.
PVA glue
White paper.
Maida( all purpose flour)
Haldi (Turmeric).
A pair of scissors.
Knife.
some kundans and jewelry.
Process:
Husk half of the coconut and clear it smooth with the help of a sand paper or knife. Paint it yellow and let dry.
Take a white paper and create eyes and lips folding the paper in half.. color them accordingly.
With the help of glue place the eye and out line them with black and draw eyebrows.
Make a v shape on crown part of the face and color it black all over on upper part of coconut n husk too.
Know make a dough with maida and haldi with water. You add lill glue if you are making it in advance. Now creat and mould nose and ears for ammavaru. Add jewellery. You made add artificial hair jada n further accessories.
You can even place a folded blouse piece and place the crown and Varalakshmi ammavari face will be ready.

wow, super madam, very nice idea. I likes this very much, I will try to do this. what are the mixture used for nose, ears? it won't break? how long it will remain? please give me in detail.
tq u for posting! ihave used maida (all purpose flour) and haldi (pasupu/termaric) and you may add PVA glue too for making the nose and ears to last long. U can prepare the coconut in advance. however ears n nose can be made a day before is what my suggestion is. It might last for more than a week. We used to immerse the coconut in water body after few (3) days.Hope this helped. If further queries email me at daab4do@gmail.com

Hi Sai..we generally immerse in water like pond, river or sea. It depends on your pooja practices , few ppl make sweet out it after pooja..Hope this helps :)

Very nice, but what will you do to this roop after the pooja and festival? Can you reuse Next year ?
Thank u so much for posting..it depends on the tradition one follow, some make sweet prasadam out of it n some immerse it in a water body..some coconut s have the tendency to rot if kept for long so usage for next is generally not suggested..
if the flour will dry and it's goes off I am thinking
hi.tq for ur query..if you are planing to keep the idol for long term..in that case you can use the synthetic clay in yellow color. and fix it heavy glue..like feviquick..hope this helps..

Thank you for taking time n posting here 🙂Adi mee అభిప్రాయం కావచ్చు no prob., I appreciate it...As I mention in many of my video. I am not a specialist it's jus my version which I am sharing..n people may get some take away to personalize as per their needs..
Ok
Can v get clay and mould every
thank u for posting.. yes we can try..
How can u keep artificial gum nd colours ..using knife to making the idol i don't think it's nt good to keep it as kalasam ... it's only good for decaration nt pooja .plz promote nd follow traditional methods
Thank you for post..I respect your opinion...as mentioned in d description, I am not an expert in religious matter. Without using any metal, I think most of us cannot peal a coconut husk.. instead of paint some can use haldi and alternative for glue one can use maida paste...but they might not last long... thank you..
Not nice u can buy no head only 150 rupees
Yes but some people the tradition will not allow to use metal heads and they follow old style.
What is that saree is nice but not did nice total u not prepared properly
thank you for liking the saree. Here in this video face is of importance hence I did not drape the saree its jus for example. Hope u can understand
don't use for pooja like this dolls, plz follow traditional kalasam
Tq for posting, I respect your opinion. As mentioned in the description I am not a specialist in religious matter and this video is just sharing what we following. Its completely once choice to adapt new methods.
