Sadly, he lost his dad to suicide at age 1. His grandad brought him up mostly and he always talks about him, as he was the one who pushed him towards his dream. His grandad passed away last thanksgiving which really affected him. He does a special, which is available on here. It’s the one with him on stage with the name ‘Matt Steven Rife’ in big letters behind him. It’s at the end of the show he tears up and talks about his grandad. Matt is really a kind hearted young man and deserves this and more

Young men usually aspire to be either, a soldier of some type (Army, Marine, sailor or air force) a fireman or policeman, i was lucky to fulfill all three, retired Army, Sheriff's Deputy, volunteer firefighter, this young man thought about Navy but followed his talent into comedy, good for you Matt, you found what you were good at and now you're one of the best in that field.

I was such a fan, UNTIL I paid over $600 for PHOENIX show tickets and he was DEFINATELY not on. SHOW sucked bad. Someone even yelled out about him wearing sweat shirt in summer in Phx and he didnt even respond w/ joke. His opening friend was funnier than Matt was. I was SOOOOO disappointed cause I bought tickets like 9months before the show so was so hyped. It was soooo bad.
I love this guy but I'll speak for myself.... It's hard to go for your "dreams" or have insane "goals" when I'm barely making rent and food every month. I have a full time job yes. But hard to go for your dreams when you're always broke.
