Most F1 driver started to kart racing as young like Max 4 years of age. Then they join formula Renault, then Formula 2. Some whose lucky get to join Red Bull development program to F1. As for Max, both his parents are racing driver. That being said, he's the apple doesn't fall far from the tree
He's in a competitive car...the 3rd best car. He is talented but he is still immature. He just had pole in Mexico, got a 3 grid penalty and during the race decided he wanted to gain it all back immediately and banged wheels, got a puncture trying to overtake in the stadium section when he could have passed on an upcoming straight with DRS. You could put him in a Merc and if that attitude doesn't change neither will the results.
American F1 fan here and to help give you guys some insight, Rich Eisen is strictly an NFL media personality with occasional celebrity guests on his show and trust me when I say, he is one of the best in the business. He just doesnt know a lot about racing. I give him props for branching out. Bringing an F1 driver in front of an NFL audience, simply AWESOME
He's a great interviewer and his show is always great to watch but he knows absolutely nothing about racing, tbh he did better than i thought he would, Rich's good
@@h77simracing20 I know nothing about Rich, when he asked about "pit stop" being apart of Max's vernacular I took that as Rich trying to subtlety hint to Max to be real and not some fake PR robot. Most of his questions seemed to be designed to uncover the story behind "Max, the serious F1 driver." I'm a big fan of Max and I think Rich did a great job interviewing him, there was no sense of what Kiei claims in the interview.

Max is also a modern kid and understands American slang just as good.

This was a bit too corporate. F1 drivers always come off a bit bland in these things. I think if I remember Vettel on Letterman was OK. But I remember Coulthard and Montoya also being a bit rigid on Letterman

Not criticizing Verstappen, but he is a HEAVILY coached representative of F1. Cliche after cliche after cliche. Eisen was trying to get to the human, seeing if Verstappen was a good hang, but Max didn’t deviate from the programmed, F1 approved responses. Rich injects humor, sarcasm, and overall chill vibes in all his interviews. He was trying to ask max questions outside of the normal press tour repetitiveness, but Max just switched into robot-mode. This was a bad interview, but it’s because Rich sensed this dude would only give him cliched responses and probably cut it short because Max was boring. Nothing to do with a perceived lack of knowledge of F1 on Rich or Americans in general. There are plenty of us who follow F1. If you look at the vast history and catalogue of Eisen show guests in the past, Rich always brings on people outside of the NFL or sporting worlds onto the show. It’s what makes it such a great show and Rich such a great interviewer. He gets to the human side and gets guests to break out of the cliched responses. Don’t assume just because he is primarily from the NFL and sports world in general, that he isn’t multifaceted and all encompassing. Too bad Max couldn’t relax and be himself, would have been interesting to see the real dude behind the F1 machine. I think people would have liked to see that.

I know you do not take any advice from others so you can be 100% authentic & genuine ... I totally dig that, but consider what I suggest bro! He may not have had lots of succes if you look at prizes or race victories, but he got signed into F1 without any substancial financial backing. No big sponsors. So the teams obviously saw talent in the man. Like Max he was a natural at overaking
