If you do ever see that again with any sheep or lamb please get hold of the farmer, he would take it out the field and they would hand feed it and call for a vet. Things can change within hours so you should never assume the farmer is allowing it to die. I would suggest asking for the farmers numbers in the fields you walk in and keeping it saved on your phone. Farmers rely on walkers to be eyes and ears when they are tending to other animals, they work 14/16 hour days and can’t be on hand 24-7

Yes! I was also going to suggest finding a rescue in the area, I’m sure there is at least one who takes “abandoned” farm animals given where they live.

I watched this happen in the field next to me, jumped the fence, wrapped the lamb in a blanket and my partner went to the surrounding farms to find the farmer. He was so happy with what we had done. This happens loads and like in this case, he had 2 other lambs in the same situation and he had a barn with heat lamps etc and foster sheep waiting to help out. Go back and find that lamb and send Ally out to find the farmer. There’s no need for that lamb to die. I double checked with my daughters 2 friends who are both vets specialising in farms animals and they said no farmer just leaves a lamb to die. I understand you being unsure, but sheep aren’t wild animals, you’re not interfering in nature when it’s farm animals in need of help and the farmer just hasn’t been around to notice yet. X

If we all know Lydia she will feel crushed now knowing that she could have done more however please do not get upset with yourself over this dear you did not know and did what you thought was best …I’m certain the farmer has taken care of this lamb and is in the best care❤

It is called a Bummer Lamb. The farmer can choose to take it in and nurture it. If they choose to do that, the lamb is forever grateful to that farmer.

I didn’t think there was anything wrong with this video or the last one. You have a lot going on and it is impossible to be perfect in every area of life at once. It is natural that certain parts of your routine would slide if you are traveling, entertaining, extra busy with work, etc. The main thing is you can now recognize it quickly and get right back to doing the things that make you feel good. Happy Birthday Lydia & Ali! 🎉🎉

I’m no farmer or expert but I don’t think many farmers would just let it happen! Try and find the farmer! They hand rear ‘pet’ lambs or they adopt lambs onto other ‘better’ mothers! Farmers care for their lambs. I would get the number of the farmer from your local fields.

Your vlog was beautiful! It truly is wonderful to see you show us how sometimes in life it’s ok to “fall off the routine”. We are not robots, we’re human beings and sometimes we’ll get it right and sometimes we won’t. You showing how human it is to not be perfect at the perfectly curated routine is connecting with us in a way deeper than you know!

Awe, Lydia... one of the most profoundly important characteristics about us, is our ability to express our compassion, concern and love of others; humans, dogs, cats, lambs and gardens - without losing the primary emotion. ;-) It's easy to let compassion slide into grief, and then into anger. And to *stay* with the compassion while sorrow rises is such a mark of maturity and growth. Your concern for the lamb is poignant - and honestly, it tells us how in touch you are with your own sensibilities... how hard the work is to stay in touch with those emotions. Well done... ;-) (PS, there's nothing harder to witness than a vulnerable soul in need ... if you've been there, you know... I know.)

So crazy you say that about the lamb! One of the ladies brought their pet lamb to work and the exact same thing happened. The mum rejected the lamb so this lady hand reared the lamb. And the lamb thinks she’s a cat as they also have a rag doll and they sleep together and the lamb even uses the litter box and scratches by her food like cats do to hide the scent! So cute and mad 😅,

The lamb story was 🐑 heartbreaking and such a tricky situation also imagining that your surrounding fields look so VAST and big and probably not that easy to find/figure out the farmer. Tricky situation and understood where u came up with that choice too. Must have been difficult. I do understand. Knowing what had happened, the best thing you can do to at least make something of that situation is to eventually find out the surrounding farmers contact info ; just incase for the future. I’m so glad you shared that though which was an incident that definitely had shaken you up.

The farm i used to go to, to ride horses as a teen, also had sheep and i would help out in lambing season, sometimes the mothers would reject a lamb for no particular reason and the farmer i knew, always would rear those lambs himself, they would be separated and either put with a different mother or worst case scenario hand fed, and as such there was usually a couple of tame sheep in a paddock somewhere. It might be worth contacting the farmer if you know who it is, because from what i gathered back then, they don't just let them die if the mother rejects them. On a side note, you mentioned that shooting and hunting goes on near you, the same happened at this farm i mentioned, the farmer let other wealthy people in the area use his land for shooting pheasants, they would shoot a ton of them, give him two, then dig a big hole and bury the rest. It used to break my heart that so many people killed for the thrill of killing something, not even to eat it.

    • @archiediggins641
      @archiediggins641 5 місяців тому +1

All good re the lamb situation. The Pheasants not actually used for food is awful in fact pretty disgusting. The male Pheasant has got to be one of the most beautiful looking birds but the breeding of Pheasants just for someone to shot has to stop! The birds have no chance of a long happy wild life as they either get shot, hit by vehicles or a fox will get them. They are not native to the UK so their outcome is never going to be easy even if fed by landowners.

@@archiediggins641 I agree, the farmer used to grow a small field of corn that was never harvested so they had a 'playground'. I never have agreed with any of that, i wish they would stop, too many cruel people in the world. I live next to a field now and sometimes get a pheasant come in the garden to get some of the dropped bird food, so i make sure there is some on the ground for him, he is beautiful.

you've been doing lovely, Lydia! Don't beat yourself up about having had some days where you're good habits have been hard to maintain. When we beat yourselves up we misuse the energy we could have spent improving instead ❤❤ i'm someone who really struggles maintaining good habits as well, so i have good periods and very much less good periods, so, selfishly, seeing that someone I look up to can have life happen and "slip a little" is comforting to me. thank you for being honest with us. "all over the place" content is not any less honest or true or valued or worthy than Lydia on her A game, so to speak. I certainly appreciate all of your vlogs, tik toks, ig stories etc. regardless. I'm really looking forward to the closet videos and the business insider interview to come out! Hope you're starting too feel better by the time this video was uploaded. Kind regards, Julie, 33, Denmark.

Silly girl, of course you connected with us, at least you did with me. Like with any friend I am in it for all the bits, the humanity of it all. If you were perfect all the time it would be annoying, speaking for myself. Your tender heart, anxiousness over making a misstep, excitement about Ali’s shoes, which are a great idea, all fun, all good. Blessings

It’s always hard seeing nature doing its brutal thing but like so many others have said on here, often the farmer will step in and hand rear the rejected lambs…. I don’t think you seemed off in the vlog but I know what you mean about not feeling like yourself, sometimes when we let one thing slip others can follow and before you know it the good habits which help you feel happy and healthy in body and mind have gone landsliding away 😂but don’t get frustrated with yourself or cross with yourself, just finding that moment of awareness that it has happened and the impact it has had is super powerful and from there you can ease back in to the things that nourish your body, mind and soul ❤❤❤

Listening to you talk about forgetting your vitamins and issues sleeping reminded me yet again of how similar that is to my daughter and her ADHD. Women with ADHD have a harder time remembering and managing when they have their period. The increase in hormones also makes my daughter more clumsy, and she gets hormonal insomnia. She usually struggles for a week leading up to her period, and then for a week after her period.

It reminds me the time that I had a great time in DEVON , UK. Lots of lambs were there. Peaceful and beautiful place with nature

Try to read about aluminum foil , it’s not so great for you … unbleached parchment paper or porcelain baking dishes are safer choices :)

The lamb story in the beginning was touching, I teared up just listening to it. Rabbits are similar post-partum.

What happened with the lamb means you have a good heart. Thanks to a lamb I started my way to veganism more than 7 years ago. One of the best decisions of my life

You have a beautiful dressing room. The least you can do is to look after it and appreciate it. So many people work as hard and so much harder than you do, but don’t have your opportunities.
    Be grateful. Genuinely.

Yes you need to tell the farmer - if he’s a good farmer he should be doing daily checks anyway and will hopefully find this lamb and take it in

Aww it is so sad Lydia but as others have said..farmers often have a few lambs they're hand feeding...a good farmer never just lets nature take its course because in some cases...unfortunately not all ewes are great mums and the babies are fine and not ill... and just need extra help. Lambing season often sees the farmers with boxes of little lambs in front of their heaters until well enough to go out again! ❤

I grew up on a farm in Zimbabwe - my dad was a farmer. This is normal and it happens all of the time. I have seen all sorts and experienced all sorts. Call the farmer for anything farm animal-related that does not seem right.

    Hi Lydia,
I like many of the others whom have commented on this vlog regarding the lamb have all given our opinions and advice as what you should have done and what we recommend you do in the future. However I am well aware that you love to learn and soak up information like a sponge. So I know you will learn so much from this vlog as will many others whom may not know about this topic.
I have come across situations which I'm sure I didn't make the best choices but have learnt and reflected later. None of us are perfect and will not always make the choices others might expect of us and yet most people would never know as most folks are not on public platforms. So don't be too hard on yourself with this vlog and all the replies like mine saying what you should have done.
    Kind regards.

You might like boiling your potato chunks for a few minutes before you pop them in the oven. It makes the centers fluffy soft. Really nice to eat :)

Hope you have a great Birthday Lydia and Ali xxxxxxxxx❤❤❤ chicks last year, what about a horse this year! It would be amazing showing lots of footage of your own horse and with you being such an amazing animal lover you’d love it , ace idea I think 😊❤❤❤❤❤
