    The 1/10 Speed isn't jammed it's a gradual dial that is attached by arm to the shutter cock lever. Once it reaches 1/10 it snaps back to recreate tension on the lever

    Hey, just a fellow C3 person here, just wanted so say developing B/W film in your closet/kitchen is really fun and not crazy expensive. I gave my film to the local camera store for development until I said fuck it and tried it, ~$60 and a funnel/reel style tank and you're off. I've lost pictures to my stupidity but not a roll to developing!
    E: I've been doing that since 10 years ago shooting 120, I think you can develop ~50 rolls of 35 for $100. GO FOR IT AND WIN!

    This is the first time I've watched one of your video's and it was a very well thought out and informative video.
    I love seeing old cameras being used.
    I had a Argus camera once and got rid of it because it wasnt in the best of shape.
    After watching your video I want to go find one and shoot with it.
    Again a great video.
    Best of luck in your photography journey.
    Best wishes
    Duane

    Ebay is going to be your best bet to find the wide angle. It's a Sandmar 35mm. It should also come with an accessory viewfinder that mounts to the camera. I'm only seeing one on ebay right now (Christmas day 2020) and it's $95 plus $12 shipping. But it's complete in box.

    I told my friend this a manual version of a manual camera. I was gifted one of the early ones.. I think from1940. Looks like a C-2... I think. I will do a roll soon to see what I get. We are almost to 2024... time to use an old camera.

    These cameras are kind of a pain to use. It's really strange to look through the viewfinder and also have to look through the rangefinder. Winding and advancing the film is also really strange. The color film that I shot through it the colors look pretty weird it might be better suited for black and white film but they were definitely Sharp . I've actually had a couple of these and I also still have the 35 mm lens which I made a custom adapter and used on my Canon DSLR. The results on my Canon were pretty good, have the old school look maybe a little soft but not too bad. I also have an Argus A camera the kind that's made out of Bakelite plastic. They are easier to use and much lighter of course and take just as good of photos and are way cool too. I went down a way deep rabbit hole about 10 years ago and at one time had about 300 film cameras and 60 digital cameras. I was really into the'60s and '70s Japanese rangefinders for a while. Canonet, Olympus 35 RC, Olympus trip, Konica c35 and XA cameras etc. I've kept almost all the cool vintage cameras but I just keep them on the shelf now. The last few years I mainly have just switched to taking apart old broken cameras custom adapting the lenses to my Sony NEX cameras. Pretty cool too see a photo that I took with a 70+-year-old lens.

    So how do you use the ring at the front of the lens in combination with the shutter dial if you do not have a light meter?

    • @GarrettCrespo
      @GarrettCrespo  3 роки тому

      You carry around a separate light meter or just eyeball it

      Look up the “Sunny f16” rule - it’s not difficult, particularly with forgiving B&W film. In ancient times each box of film came with a printed table of exposure settings for various conditions.

      Also they originally came with a light meter that could be attached to the hot shoe

    So how did the prints turn out? Pics or it didn't happen!

      Actually ran into issues with the camera shutter. So I lost the roll I was originally using because I couldn’t get the film to feed the whole way through… I’m still trying to fix the camera

    Why are you called Steel Frodo but your channel says Garrett Crespo

    • @GarrettCrespo
      @GarrettCrespo  4 роки тому

      The nickname is a long story. Essentially, my old Xbox live user name was frodo117 cause everyone in school called me Frodo. I lost access to that account cause I forgot the password. So Xbox live suggested Steelfrodo117. So I kept the Steelfrodo part and dropped the 117.
