I will also note, if there was an insurrection, it would have to be declared by the then sitting president! Throw in the fact that the President is not an officer of the government, as officer means that he is delegated some of the power that the government has. The president as executive is not delegated authority, he is the executive authority.
Indeed, that is explicitly stated in article 5 of the amendment, and also alluded to in several of the other 4 articles. Since the congress referred to is specifically the bicameral legislature consisting of the house of representatives and the senate, it appears to me that this ruling by the CO Supreme Court is just a propaganda stunt.

Up until trump we had a perfect record of peaceful transitions of power. Now who knows what's going to happen after the next election. If trump gets more votes, his supporters will suddenly have perfect confidence in the system, and any attempt by the Democrats to scrutinize it will chalked up to daddy trump being persecuted. When this is overturned, everyone needs to be reviewed by the Law Review Board. This level of competence does not need to be in the legal system. They also need to be suited by Trump, in addition to, paying back tax payers for the money wasted. In fact, this needs to happen in NY, GA, and Wash DC for the waste of tax payers dollars on this frivolous but personal pursuit.
I am really over it. I suspect there are other's who are over it, too. I am so tired about hearing about the insurrection. When cities were demolished by protesters and people like Kamala Harris bail them out. The, so called, insurrection is nothing in comparison see what happened in other places. The Supreme Court can't levy any punishment against them. At most their State Legislature could impeach and remove them. Otherwise they will only be removed if the Colorado voters decide to remove them the next time they're up on the ballot.

I think you're vastly overestimating Trump's popularity, and what attracts people to him. If this was 2016, maybe. But now? Highly doubtful. It's unlikely that anyone who isn't already blindly supporting Trump would turn around and support him now over this, especially after his incredibly chaotic, lackluster performance and actions while in office. If anything, it'll reaffirm to many Republicans why they shouldn't vote for Trump. At least the reasonable, informed ones, who actively engage with reality.
