Omg! Thank you so so SOO much for reacting to my dab band! I am so happy to see BUCK-TICK getting more love and Attention! 😭💖 Somethings I want to clarify- The “guitarist with the face tattoo” would be their Primary Composer and head-hancho of all the things that have to do with Electronic beep and Bob sounds would be the High-Kicking Fashion icon 💖Imai Hisashi! (Pronounced: EE-MAH-EE -HEE-SAH-SHEE). On his face is not a tattoo, but a signature of the Band’s initials on his cheek, done in liquid eyeliner- he’s done this since the band’s very early days!
BUCK-TICK have been around since the very early 80’s- all the members were born in the small town prefecture of Fujioka, Gunma- went to the same Elementary, all boys private Junior high- and then eventually Highschool. It was there the band began its humble beginnings as a a cover band (to another notorious Sex-Pistols esc punk band called THE STALIN,) under the name HINAN GO-GO (or “Critism Go-Go”); not a single one of the band members knew how to play an instrument 🤣🤣🤣 so they were just like “alright! Pick an instrument and we’ll start from there!”
Imai Chose Lead Guitar; Hoshino Hidehiko was prompted to become the vocalist for HINAN- but stuck to rhythm Guitar instead; on Bass Guitar is Higuchi Yutaka; on Drums Sakurai Astushi, and on vocals Araki. As HINAN started to gain Speed- and eventually made the move to after Graduation to go to Tokyo and try to make it professionally, Araki was either kicked from the band or had stepped down personally, (depending on who you asked.) Sakurai had initially stayed behind in the light of his abuser- Or I’m Sorry “Father’s” passing 💀, but was then encouraged by his mother to join the band in Tokyo, out of fear that she would see her son spiral down into the same dark path as her deceased husband.
When Atsushi had finally Joined the band in Tokyo, HINAN were Scrambling to find themselves a new vocalist- to which in a rather Bold and uncharacteristic move for the Shy, Timid Drummer- proceeded to Pester, plead and literally BEG the band to let him fill the role! And after much MUCH 😬 faces and hesitation- the band finally caved in; Sakurai Atsushi was made the Band’s permanent vocalist (and it was the BEST damn desicion they ever made!!!!!! 💖) HINAN reached out to Yutaka’s 12 year elder brother YAGAMI TOLL to be the band’s now permanent drum member, and the band was re-named as BUCK-TICK! (Fun Fact- the name itself is actually a clever English Play-on-Words for the Japanese word バクチク🧨- which in English means “Firecracker”!)
When Buck-Tick came onto Tokyo’s Rock n Roll music Scene in the mid 80’s, (with the Release of their 1st album HURRY UP MODE in 1986, and then following the very next year in 1987- where the band made their Major debut signed onto to Victor entertainment; SEXUALxxxxx!;) their Musical style and Influence borrowed heavily from the Big England-born punk and Post punk/new wave movements occurring at the time, (they even labeled themselves under the moniker of a “Positive pop-Punk band”.) such influences ranging from The Cure, to the Talking Heads; Billy Idol, Killing Joke, The Cult, Siousxie and the Banshees and SO SO SOOOO many others! BUCK-TICK saw themselves in an OK-ONESELF TO THE FLY-HIGH skyrocket to Fame and Popularity; with Catchy as all hell riffs that kept the crowds coming, and of course not to mention there ever so Charismatic new vocalist who soon found himself to be in the spotlight as Japan’s new National Sex Symbol and Heart-throb- it’s totally easy to see why! However- At the Dawn of the 1990’s; Japan would see BUCK-TICK go into a extremely Drastic change in overall look, Tone and Sound-
With Atsushi snatching Imai’s crown, and claiming the title of BT’s now and to this very day Primary lyricist, the band began to dabble themselves even further into the likes of Goth Rock, Industrial and Dark-wave influences, as either to pursue a more Mature/Adult sound, or to match themselves with the dark subject matter and themes that Atsushi was experimenting with- primarily the Existential questioning and crisis of Morality, Death and Reincarnation, (oh yeah. And Sex. A lot of Buck-Tick Songs are about Sex…. Like I’d say 67%. Sakurai Atsushi is a Very Horny Human Being! 🤪🤣)

Oh my God I love your reaction! 😆 Props to Imai-san for making our heads bop ❤
Imai Hisashi isn't wearing a face tattoo, it's just makeup, and he has done it since the band's early years in the mid 80's.
