tony ferguson would be proud
Do you mean Turd Ferguson?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahha
I love the ankle pick. I've been using it since my sophomore year all the way up to now in MMA and BJJ, it's definitely one of my go to's since I do have longer arms myself. My other favorite takedown would be the sweep single and I often lead with the ankle pick and chain it into a sweeping single or double leg if they try to sprawl on the initial shot.
Stunning loved the quality and information
im a highschool wrestler and the ankle pick is one of my weakest moves but every match i do and record i notice how many times i have the opportunity to use it and get a takedown. after watching this the underhook to a ankle pick looks like something i'd like considering the underhook to a single leg is one of my favorite takedowns as of right now so adding something new to my arsenal would be amazing
Just relentless
If it's effective against Jordan Burroughs it's good stuff.
Kobies Boxing and Kyle dake so he's doing something right

Hi Kobles Boxing, I just published a video to my channel with 2x All American Mitch Minotti from Lehigh. We break down the whole match and he really went in depth and show us the nuances of his technique and mindset. If you enjoyed this I think you'd enjoy ours. Hope you get the chance to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/ZjCjgmjke9g/v-deo.html
Personally, I secure a collar tie on the like button, then drop my opposite finger for notifications, and finish with an ankle pick to toggle a subscription to this awesome channel. Strong work

Love the way he breaks this down.

No the og god of the ankle pick is John Smith
@@richardmckinney4963 John smith shot a low single not an ankle pick lol
@@Th3Chuzzl3rlow single is an ankle pick w/o the collar tie
@@kineticsage8137 yes it is, but that difference is why its called a low single, just like how a hi crotch is just a single leg with your head on the outside but we dont call it a single its called a hi c.
Dude I can’t belive I just found this page!!! I train jiu jitsu and these videos really help me to study when I don’t have access to someone with this type of knowledge. Thank you so much!!
I totally feel you, most of the other white belts at my bjj gym have previous experience in grappling, they're judoka and this extremely helpful, they have a hard time defending ankle picks.

I agree. These breakdowns are awesome.
Ever since I learned this I’ve taken people that has 50-60 pounds on me
7:00 - Why you don't mess with your kneepad or headgear while the match is going on. :-)
David Taylor hits it as slick as it gets, thanks for posting!!!
I like how you show it again and again. So your mind could observe and obtain the info. I watched the video 3 times and shadow wrestle on my own. Thanks you. You deserve way more subs and likes man. Appreciate it! 💪😁
Thanks!
He also starts it with a backstep/sprawl for distance, to make the entry safe.
This serves as his 'snap down' and pulls the opponent forward when he lands to shoot forward.
The opponent either steps forward or gets top heavy and can't move his legs to defend.
Sometimes the ankle pick merely serves as 'insurance' for the single or double leg.
This take down became my favorite after someone did it on me during a live match... the guy did like... 4 ankle picks on me in just 1 round... then I learned the move and it feels amazing doing it
I rarely like videos but this one was definitely worth it. I checked out your Chanel and I've found a gold mine! When is the next headhunter episode coming out or maybe a video on single legs in gi bjj?
Dan Sweeney great, thank you!
The one dislike was the App State guy that was the training dummy
Shut up before I Ankle Pick you
-Tony Ferguson
Wait a sec, is this "bjj scout" or an admirer, or just someone else who coincidentally is doing like the exact same thing with wrestling? Either way, awesome! Now someone needs to do it with striking arts. Cool man, keep it up. I'll subscribe
I'm new to wrestling but I know I love it. Thanks for posting this video with such rich and detailed information. Look forward to more of your informative content!
Subbed
This was great, can you do a low single next?
Sloth Duchants a
I started wrestling and this is going to be my set up and imma dominate
R you dominating?
Greg Howard *r u domin8ting
I wish you the best of luck!!! This is a great move!!
Instead do an analysis on how to do an ankle pick the wrong way. Analyze why it doesn't work
Work is strong with this one! Subscribed my man, you deserve more!
This has helped me so much as bjj white belt I’m taking down purple belts on a regular basis
I’ve had to adapt the ankle pick to the gi as well. It works extremely well against judo players who stand straight up.
one of my favorites, the ol' ankle pick, i use it in Jiu Jitsu because it's such a low risk attack, however he is amazing at it, cannot wait to try some of these chained attacks.
however i will add, not sure it was mentioned. while locked up, you can drag your opponent lets say to your back right foot, that'll make them move there left leg more squared up and easier to reach for you guys with shorter arms or if you're just slower, you can drag, then begin the reaching for the pick of the ankle that hasn't even reached where it's at yet, pretty much attacking where the ankle WILL be if that makes any sense. That's how i usually do mine.
8:26 is a fucking kuchiki taoshi. And I thought it didn't exist in the world of wrestling. Wow.
The lack of the gi to pull down on must make it so much harder. That tricep grip must be rock solid.
Kibisu gaeshi to kuchiki taoshi, or ankle pick to 'dead tree drop' (maybe knee pick?).
Great combo when they are in jigo tai, you go for kibisu gaeshi. They step out and straighten out to shizen tai - you go for kuchiki taoshi.
This channel is awesome. I just blew a hundred bucks on a John Danaher takedown instructional. This channel is RAD to the power of SICK. Keep up the awesome work.
This video changed my game. Thank you so much!
I am a short stocky guy. I loved to use this move. It is all in the set up and timing. Having this weapon in your arsenal is pretty essential. Watch your opponents feet and get him slightly off balance with a collar tie or an under hook and go straight for the back of his ankle if you can go all the way to the back of his heel you usually Got him.
Great music and evidence and fonts! Can learn and just flow 😊☺️😊☺️😊
I am a Mat club/middle school wrestling coach! This video is awesome for the tall kids!
Thank you so much!!!
WILL YOU PLEASE
Make more! Do Jason Nolf. Jordan Burroughs. Jessie Delgado 1st!
I get sad when I see wrestling because I'm very passionate about it and being from the UK it's practically extinct over here we never had it at school or any collage wrestling is an art and very competitive.
The simpler the better. He's incredible.
love this move
Please do a Steve Mocco foot sweep video next! Would be perfect for your channel of wrestling and grappling fans.
What happened to the opponent at 6:25?!?
Nathan Peters He ded
In freestyle it’s smart to belly out like that after being taken down
Lmao ankle pick clinic in that nat’l championship match against Hackett. This guy is unbelievable
55 dislikes must be 55 who lost position due to ankle pick ! what s to dislike in this awsome breakdown video full of valuable info
dont spit on knowledge ! learn to apresciate it instead.
Awesome! Taylor is great to watch, his ability to reshoot on failed picks is crazy!
Be very careful with your training partners, this a great technique but can ruin a knee if wrenched the wrong way.
This is ridiculous how easy he makes this look, and uses his picks as the foundation for chain wrestling to an ultimate finish. All while low risk if it misses. Great video!
Thank you!
Would this be ok in a mma setting? Could the guy kick in me in the face. It seems to low to catch a knee
Please do more of these
So this guy's name is DPS breakdown but he doesn't break down the DPS of any of the attacks.
Interesting concept. Coincidentally, if damage per second in wrestling meant something along the lines of "points scored per minute," collegiate David Taylor would likely be one of the highest dps wrestlers in recent memory. 2019 Jason Nolf or Bo Nickal would give him a run for his money, though.
Love you 😘 it would be cool if you talked about do in a satire manner I know that's not how you role but it would be cool
This channel is like finding a cheesecake in a desert of fruitcakes.
First , amazing video !!!!!.
So one thing I notice and couldnt wrap my head around was the drop leg .For some reason, I could not visualise it .But then I realized its because David's opposite leg (to his collar tie) is forward .When I roll (no gi bjj) my opposite leg is behind , to how Marcelo has it here :ua-cam.com/video/MCt2a-mj530/v-deo.html
Do you think that changes anything significant with regards to transitions to other attacks?
Notice he has an elite pick to either side and can tie up in either stance for the set up
next jordan burroughs double leg!!
8:22 omg That chain..
Great breakdown
Thanks, Alec. Keep up the great work on your instructionals as well as the competition circuit!
Taylor is the best in his weight class
Can you cut the crappy music out?
late 90s porn music
More videos like this!!!!!!
This is about third vid ive seen from ("bjj preemptive framing", and "headhunter" series) you and your work is very good. Subbed. Best wishes for your channel.
why do you drop to the opposite knee that you have the collar tie on?
great study. Music is fine, but I could certainly also enjoy voice over commentary. The detail and work here is exceptional. Thank you!
This was an awesome video!!! Can you make more like this. I personally didn't like ankle picks until this year and this was really informative .
Thank you for the tips!!!! I like you put the description and circle mark. It is very helpful!!
Wow this dude is awesome.............I learned a lot just by watching this video.......
Damn, I really wish I took more time to understand and use the ankle pick back when I wrestled. I would have been good at it I bet cause me and Taylor have the same body type. Oh well...
Great video! Thank you for posting. I first learned about the ankle pick a couple of years back when watching a match between Cael Sanderson & Daniel Cormier. It was amazing how many times Cormier was getting caught by it. It was love at 1st sight when I saw it being used and I had to make this technique a part of my arsenal as a mixed martial artist. My favorite techniques are always the low risk techniques. I also love that mixed martial artists rarely, if not never train ankle pick defense. It's always the single or double that they train for. Big surprise when they are not ready for it. Also love how it's a good way to take the back and finish with the real naked choke.
Thank you again for an excellent breakdown. You have done this technique so extensively in you jiujitsu highlight reels. Buchecha uses sweep single which is very similar to this all the time.
Amazing Video! Thanks for all of the hard work you put in, and this will definitely help me on the mat! This is the first video I have seen by you, and I love the content on your channel
Insightful video man! I appreciate the work you put into this. You should make a "study" playlist in which you look into techniques/martial artists like this!
Definitely make more videos like this! Learned a lot from it and upgraded my neutral game!! Every move and it’s technique should be taught like this
Wow, this is amazing. Thanks so much. Please do more.
I wonder if DT has seen this himself? Just excellent!
I love the ankle pick it’s not a very risky move but the reward is very high as stated in the video. But also because I can’t really take good shots lol, I really like that segment where you put in the opponent regained his position so David went for a double leg I’m gonna try to do that more. All in all really good video
These wrestling breakdowns are top notch. Great music too
Great video! I will definitely be adding these variations to my standup! Thank you for sharing.
My coach is used multiple times in this video as an example of being taken down..
John smith has a great "traditional" low single. He "inventeded" (pioneered) it
Beautiful video!!!!
This is the best video I found that explains how to perform the ankle pick
Great video
Gold medal babayyyyyyyyyyyy
For mma instead of the collar tie put the hand on the upper corner of stomach since they will be more upright.
Please do a serious on my favorite David Taylor move where he stacks the opponent with an armbar and half Nelson not sure what the move is called
Cale Sanderson brought it into the spotlight years ago, now he's the head coach at Penn State, has been for quite a while. Coincidence
I'll try that from collar Tie, I actually use that a lot from an underhook. Seems legit
Awesome video! Thank you for putting this together!
Can you direct me to anyone who knows the modifications necessary to use this for jiu jitsu?
This breakdown was astounding. Thank you for all your hardwork on this video.
This is the Grappling channel with the best music i've found so far
He learned from the best ankle picker in the world! The best that has ever walked the face of the earth.
Excellent as usual, thanks Dan. Definitely gonna try this out 👍
Love your breakdowns. Thanks for sharing.
Most these guys knew it was coming but still couldn't stop it.
36 people have succumbed to the ankle pick!
love this video
Nice I was just studying ankle picks the other day
Keep this coming, just subscribed!!
Great stuff
This was my bread and butter in high school
I used the ankle pick series in high school and college I really loved it.
Great video! This will definitely help me, as I am new to this.
Good breakdown. Keep them coming.
Do you think it is a good takedown for MMA?
Once in the clinch I bet it is. Don't see it much but occasionally
Wow man, one of a kind breakdown. Please do more. Nice job
These are awesome . Please make a series on these and I’ll be sure to show my friends
