I made this video to make a quick comparison between the Arlo pro and the arlo pro 2 systems. One clip at night, and one in daylight.

@@autovidendk Thanks for the video. Looks like the quality isn't a huge jump but the detection range is a big difference. I needed another cam for my dog door so i know when my little pup goes out when im not home. Don't really need the quality or range but was curious if the pro 2 was just vastly superior.

How about a different make. I have owned the arlo pro1 for almost a year and found it to be excellent up until the last couple of updates. since the updates movement has to be closer by a couple of feet also during the night the recording is black for a few seconds and when you look at the screen it is almost total darkness when before you could see what was last recorded. im very wary of arlo now as they can do what they want in a update.
@@turokforever007 pro 2 from these 2 options is a better choice, higher resolution and starts recording sooner. Otherwise the cameras are VERY similar of course.
The arlo 3 now takes away a lot of the free options unless you pay for the monthly service.

Jason C no problem mate. i my self had big doubt before i upgraded my pro to pro 2, and wished that more consumers would had made videos for compairison before i bought it. The sponsored videos are unreleiable....
Was the motion sensitivity set to the same for both cameras? Or is the Arlo 2 that much better at picking up motion?
At 23 seconds, you can see the child’s face in the Pro2 shot much clearer than the Pro1 in my opinion. 1 may be a hair brighter, but that brightness appears to be a downfall when the subject matter is a face.
I wish I had known this before. I just purchased the pro last week, and finally got it installed today. We set it up, aimed it to where it would cover our front steps, and mailbox which is about 20-30 feet away. We've had packages stolen from both our porch, and mailbox, so, this was important. I went outside, walked down the driveway, went to the mailbox, then walked up the sidewalk; it didn't even detect me until I was about 5 feet away, if that. Extremely disappointing. In the meantime, we drilled holes into our house, to mount the camera, and now I'm thinking I might just return it.

Naaaa, had to many issues with arlo app on ios, so not going to spend any more money on arlo products im sorry.

very informative comparison. I'm currently on the fence of whether to buy Pro or Pro 2. Costco currently has Pro on sale, $100 off for a 3-pack.
One question I have @ 1:20, I want to know if the Arlo Pro was able to capture the license plate number at the blue car's distance, unfortunately the plate is blocked in this video.
Non of Them Can capture licencplates. Wait for Pro 2. arlo ultra is comming now so Pro is on offer som...

Is it possible to use two or more devices at the same time with the Arlo App (Let's say, 1 iPad, 1 iPhone + 1 Android phone/tablet?

I believe the 3 second difference is due to a new implementation in the pro 2 in that the cameras will record 3 seconds before motion is triggered. How this is accomplished I can't say.

@ Morten What do you mean by "on batteries"? Aren't they all wireless and battery operated?

Would you say the night vision is better on the pro?
I would say they are pretty much the same. BUT The pro 2 has a tendence to focus at nearby objects and then blur the background when its dark, thats why people say that the night vision is better on pro 1 than the pro 2. Because the pro1 does not do that "infront focus" thing. If they are set up with Nothing in front of the lens, they are pretty much the same on both. Still the pro 2 with better resolution, but still you can not regonise people at night (perfect) with either of them.

looks like the pro1 is more washed out in night vision. is this normally how it is at night? looking at the lamp in the background it is much crisper and less washed out in the pro 2.
Sean Ozz the pro2 is higher resolution - so yes thats what to expect..
Sean Ozz you are going to always have grain and noise from low lightif that is an issue you can get an ir bulb and turn it on at night

Zaaz both are running om batterier.
Just got the Arlo Pro2 kit. The resolution although advertised as HD 1024x... etc., is pathetic; blurry, not sharp. I'm not sure if this camera is truly recording at HD, even 720 would be better. I think it's even worse. My first impression is bad. I might be returning this but I'll give it a little more time. Concept excellent, execution poor.
I have purchased an Arlo Pro2 and everything started out great, yet a year later and now all cameras are pixilated and their customer service which is absolutely horrible just can't seem to find the issue. This problem is company and camera wide. When the company decided to compress video files, they altered the video quality being stored. Storing crap video is useless to every home "security" camera. I will never purchase from this company again.
You are right. Arlo updates your camera software as they wish. Everytime a new software is uploaded to the camera, some of the original features is broken or removed. They try to make costurmers purchase subscriptions or new cameras. And yes you are allso correct about there custormer service, there is NONE.
A wired system is the best hands down. Wireless is more of a lesser quality system with more lag and problems and less dependable.
