Could not agree more. Killing captain boomerang didn’t give me a shock factor it just made me pissed at how they’d disservice a fan favorite character like that. They did him really really dirty. I’m not opposed to him dying at some point in the film, but him dying like that was just a waste. I really like your idea of him surviving with flag, which would add to more of their camaraderie since they knew eachother for a good while and would’ve allowed for a more impactful death later. Plus him and Harley’s friendship was way too pure to be wasted with 20 seconds of screen time. Bullshit. Flashpoint better bring him back.
Captain Boomerang should have been one of the surviving characters and one of the main focuses of the movie. It will never truly be Suicide Squad without him. If he doesn't return I honestly don't know if I'd be interested in watching anymore.
Perfect video mate, reflects my thoughts nearly exactly. I love the film but the role of “character from the first film who dies suddenly to show that it’s not just new characters who are gonna be killed off” would have been better given to Killer Croc. Rather than having Boomer wasted in two films. I think Jai Courtney has a handle on his character on the same level Margot has on Harley. Every line he delivered in this film was entertaining. And as far as him showing up again, fuck the canon, he can just show up and we don’t need an explanation. It is what it is, “canon” has become such an important part of comic book films these days to their detriment. Filmmakers should simply be looking to create the best film possible with the best characters and performers they have to hand, rather than conforming to what other people have done.
Couldn't agree more. Most of the first team were more interesting than the main team anyway but getting rid of Boomerang was a complete waste. Jai Courtenay is great in the role.
Why not have Blackguard and Boomerang survive, and then have Blackguard betray the team? Then, Boomerang's redemption moment doesn't feel like a morality switch. He's taking out a traitor without surrendering his wanton douchebaggery that we all know and love. He kills Blackguard with a throwaway boomerang joke and dies. As an added bonus, when Waller's talking about kids, you could have her holding a stack of folders with Harkness' son's name on it. It doesn't feel like a cheap out that way.
I think that the original suicide squad films was one of the worst superhero films I've seen but Captain Boomerang was the literal one aspect of the film I enjoyed. I didn't even enjoy Harley Quinn until birds of prey so it sucked he was kinda wasted.
Captain Boomerang is one of my favorite "minor" comic vilains, it makes me furious that he was done dirty like this, i'm ok with him dying but at least killing him off AFTER actually giving us his full potential!! But hey, a boomerang always comes back!
When James Gunn said he was inspired by the dirty dozen I was hoping there weren’t two teams just one big one and just like the third act of the dirty dozen almost everyone dies except like 4 people
Honestly I agree with everything you said, the characters I'd keep would probably be the ones with more personality, just for them to be killed off in a way similar to Saving private Ryan, again like you said. I'd keep TDK, Blackguard, Javelin, Boomer, and Savant, the rest of them can go die tbh
Call it an overexaggerating if you want, but I hate the fact they killed Captain Boomerang and it kinda made me hate this film. I mean personally I thought it was a bad film anyway, but this death, so soon to the start was like a bad omen. It should have been a warning to stop watching. I thought the character was great in the first one, definitely one of the better aspects of that film. But not only was he the best part of the 1st one, not only was he my favourite member of the team, but his character is like a cockroach. He should be some slimy weasel who always manages to get out of these situations, either because of his cowardice or because of pure dumb luck. But the worst part of it is as a Flash fan, it pains me that if we ever get flash vs the rogues, Boomerang will not be there. In fact forget the rogues. I would have been happy to just see Boomerang vs Flash. Now all I have is that short cameo in the first one. But anyway, they got the message across in the opening scene about people dying. And if they absolutely had to kill someone from the first film, why kill a fan favourite? Why not bring Killer Croc back, or Katana? I know i'm complaining because of a bias. But i don't care. It really fucking sucks. Like loosing Boba Fett all over again.
@@FBI-lu3wf people only remember him because he came back in this movie. Nobody talked or remembered anything about him a week after the 2016 abomination came out and to hate the entire new movie because of one character is dumb af

i like your idea a lot, having a couple more characters survive the beach does help keep the unpredictableness up and keeps the gore up. having the characters die there in the middle bit of the movie would liven it up a bit more

Holy crap, my old account is Here at 0:49 , great video, if i would rewrite him to survive (at least longer), i would Like make one of thew splinters to deactivate the bombin his neck, je realizes that so he barley runs away from the fight, and when they get Milton we learn that he was his ride put of that hell, also i found it weird that Harley, polka and bloodspor ran away of top of the building just fine, so i would make him die right there, and thats it, maybe mr Miller saves him 2
I vastly prefer the 2016 one over Gunn's flick. Boomerang is one of those reasons BUT he's hardly the only thing that got wasted stupidly in the new one...
Was bitter for quite a while, but I then realised that the world of fanfiction exists which, while not changing the fact that he's canonically dead, gives me access to a bunch of Boomerangy goodness.
Peacemaker was supposed to die too, he was only resurrected when the executives thought it was a good idea for a series and James Gunn had to shoot the post credit scene.

It was WB fault that the original sucked. They thought they knew how to do it so they changed so much from the director’s cut.
