I appreciate your insights and photos. I am stunned by the photos I see out of that 55-300. I am intrigued by the K3iii. Currently shoot a Fuji XT4 and a Nikon D850. I don't like the way the XT4 handles shadow detail in landscape photos and the ergonomics suck. The D850 takes great photos but is getting too heavy and requires a tripod all the time. I'd like to downsize into one camera system. Part of my rebel nature wants to shoot Pentax simply because it's different. Probably not a great reason to do anything. :)
I can relate. I tried the D850 and the Fuji system after starting out with Pentax. I came back to Pentax, which somehow just gives me more evocative images and a more pleasing user experience.
Lee Another great video my current landscape lens is a Sigma 18-250 3.5 - 5.6 I use the 55-300 PLM WR for wildlife photography . Your pictures make me want to go to the Rockies or at least the Sierras which are nearer for me alone to two day road trip
Hi Lee, thanks for an informative video. Lovely scenery and well worth the drive you took. I am really impressed at how good the 55-300 images are on the K3-III.
Thanks for this review and the other you did for the two cameras. I'm struggling between them. My K3 Mark II is getting a little beat up {it's been my hiking camera for a few years}.. I'm really leaning towards the K1 II but the newer K3 iii is just so good too.. 99% of my lenses are all old crop sensor lenses {or older 35mm slr lenses}.. Back to shopping..
Lee...many thanks again for your thoughtful insights on both of these Pentax beauties. I am torn between the Pentax K-1 II and the Nikon D850. Leaning more and more towards the Pentax. I simply love the organic images that Pentax produces. Images do not appear over processed like other camera manufacturers. I sold my Fuji XH-1 and only have a Leica Q2. Fixed focal length is fine but not for wildlife and light sports. Estes Park is beautiful and I miss the adventures I had out there years ago. Colorado is an awesome canvass to create beautiful images. Once I get my Pentax K-1 I will be returning to Colorado and New Mexico. You are right that the town around Estes Park kinda reminds me of Pigeon Forge. Great review again Lee.
Hi Lee. I live in alberta. I'm about two hours from jasper national park. The rockies are amazing. I alway love being there. We are still in lockdown here but the summer is looking good for us. I hope to be there in August and after that. Thats when the light is at its best and fall colors come in. Love your work. Keep posting videos.
I'm debating between buying the K-1 II and the K-3 III, actually... I can't get both, so I'm kind of on the fence as to which to go for. I do mostly landscape and astrophotography.
ua-cam.com/video/rInemU3dX84/v-deo.html This guy gives his explanation why he went for the K-1 Mark 1 for astrophotography. They're less expensive too!
Do you find that the K3iii has a weird way of rendering reds and oranges? Mine renders them far too 'orangey' when compared with my K-1 and KP, which render them more naturally.
Love it! Thanks for sharing your experience. Two silver Pentax with matching lenses.. now you're just showing off lol :D

WOW. Amazing owl shot.

Both are great but a used K-1 would be great for your landscape and astrophotography at a much cheaper price.
