    The cover is starting to come along nicely. I know these videos were filmed in winter but we never see or hear any other folks working on their boats in the yard.

      Cheers and yes. Its a tricky one but coming along. This winter, the boatyard has been empty. Literally had the place to myself all winter!!

    Thank you for this video. And thank you for the "trick" about how to take off a damage screw (with grey tape.)🙂

      No problem. I saw it myself and wished I knew about it earlier!!

    Will you keep the lugger back at Bala sailing club again?

      @SailingWithDave  2 місяці тому

      Yes for season 4 we're back at Bala. However we also try to stretch our wings a bit too.

    Arghhh. I just spent a good part of the summer restoring the gunnels on my lugger ; watching you nonchalantly drill holes into yours hurts a bit :-) Interesting project however...

      Far from nonchalant!! A lot of thought and pain went into that, but I figured better to some some screws in the wood than holes in the fibregalss. I'm quite good with wood and can repair those screw holes easily.

      At any rate I love that you're trying to find ways to modify lulu to make her more seaworthy.... I also am trying to make some modifications to my lugger... you almost inspire me to try and make a video

      @@benjaminblakely3421 Well thankyou very much for that. I think the Lugger makes for a very customizable boat. She's very basic at heart but you can tinker and do all kinds if htings with her. I do wonder if getting her to go a bit faster in lighter airs is a flawed activity though! Maybe time to look for another boat!!!

      @@SailingWithDave I'm looking at investing in some new sails. Apparently it's quite possible to increase sail area by 25% How old are your sails? have you considered the batten-roached main ?

    I waswondering about the boatyard & Bala. Can you not sail from the Boatyard slipway, save money from Bala sailing club?

    • @SailingWithDave
      @SailingWithDave  2 місяці тому +1

      Well, there are 2 options on slipways here. The one into the canal and then out via the lock, but that slipway is actually broken and no boats can use it. There's a bit stpe down onto it where its sunk.
      The dinghy club next door are very friendly and have a slipway but not for the Lugger. They do have some bigger boats on their standings but maybe they don't launch from there.
      In any event the sailing here isn't for me. Its very tidal and has a strong current. I really want to get out onto the sea so ideally would have some kind of storage or mooring or something like that near to Angelsey. I have seen the guys racing here and on the beating leg they are hardly moving!!

      @@SailingWithDave Have you looked at Dinas Boatyard North Wales LL56 4RX.

      @@joewilliams5396 Yes, I enquired there a while ago. I htink you can launch from there, but storage was full. I use the public slipway there a lot though. and am also trying to get into the dinghy club there but they're cruiser park is full too.
