GuitArlington '22 Rocks! Walk-thru one of the biggest guitar shows in the world...

Spent a really nice afternoon Sunday afternoon strolling thru the vendor booths at the Arlington Guitar show the other day. Prices I saw ranged from $99 - $378K, so there was stuff for the common man and billionaire alike... Prices on "mid-range" guitars (say $1,500-2,000, like a guy like me could maybe afford), seemed pretty accurate/competitive, matching to Craigslists pricing I've seen on similar guitars recently.

Well it is a GUITAR show... soothing piano tunes wouldn't really be appropriate IMHO.

We're at the point of total ridiculousness in the escalation of prices on vintage stuff. Dealers are just putting these things out to see if anyone is silly enough to pay crazy prices and raising the prices a grand a week. $13 grand for a Les Paul Junior? Really? I've been buying & selling guitars since the 70's and I'll be the first to admit my perspective is warped out. I went to the Dallas G Show in 1980. It's one thing to pay up for an old Strat, those are pretty rare and they have an interesting vibe. But a LP Jr? I'm just glad that in my old age, these things just don't light me up like they once did.

I know... it's way out of line! Vintage LP Jrs were like $5K only a few years back... now the new Gibson custom shop one costs that much, and the Vintage one is beyond the reach of anybody but the 1%ers. Glad I bought all the cool guitars I need back when they were relatively affordable.

Yeah, that red 'Stang at the end was actually parked in the parking lot at the show... I thought it was crazy... don't usually see too many of them outfitted with roof racks for hauling stuff...
