Dixie, your videos are so good that people like them before they even watch. It was only 14 min old when I started watching but 31 people had already liked it.
That's what I do. I open the video, hit the thumbs up and then I watch! Lol I'm a simple girl, I see Dixie's video I like it... :)
We know what to expect by now....Awesomeness!
Dixie, I've been watching for months - - you are NOT a baby. You Go!!! More tenacity I have not ever seen. /p/
Washington is my home state! White Pass is my home Ski Mountain! The moss is called Old Man's Beard.
you played that Charlie Brown Christmas song...brought tears to my eyes...long story...it has been a few years since I enjoyed the Holiday season approaching. I love the snow on all the evergreens! I love the mountains, rivers, and streams. They used to call me the Christmas Kid. Reminds me of hiking the AT in early spring. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with all of us. It gives hope.
Hope this year brings you a wonderful, loved-filled season!!
C Mack. May this and every holiday season build you up and help you move forward ever stronger !
That looked like turkey bacon to me haha
Agree with that.
it's called Fakeon
Fouxfaken!
"This is the song that never ends" and it's stuck in my head. Thank you.
that camping spot at end of video is where I wanna be forever.
still beats being at work
Absolutely love your videos. Charlie Brown Christmas song..what a smile😊
I might have a cold that makes my ears hurt like all heck, but nothing will stop me from listening to this video!
You are the very definition of someone who can stop and smell the roses. It's so nice to see your positive attitude, even in frigid cold and sleet. And thank you for the Charlie Brown Christmas music!
Brrrr.....that looks SO cold and wet. I've spent a night out in that kind of weather and the footage brought the chills right back again. Hope your bag was warm and dry. The snow is beautiful, though. Aaron, thank you again for your editing genius. The Christmas music perfectly fit the scene..both in mood and timing. Nat Geo should hire you for their video work. These vids would work well for your 'reel'. Maybe, Dixie, you are at the border now? I absolutely can not wait for the next video. You are amazing! I see there is a High Sierra compilation video. That will be my treat after I get work done today. Thank you guys so much!
Dixie looks like what everyone who hikes the PCT in Sept/Oct get a little treat of snow. Hope you stayed warm! This section is so pretty hope the snow stopped so you could enjoy it!! Around Seattle out
The snowy landscape looks just like Narnia - so beautiful!
Yep ...too cold...get cozy and warm in your tent.
Turkey bacon! Keep trekkin Dixie! The light is officially at the end of the tunnel!
I laughed out loud when the Charlie Brown Christmas piano music began. I was wearing headphones watching the episode and everyone around me looked over at me bewildered by my laugh. It made Christmas feel oh too close.
Thank you for showing me the beauty of The PCT! Stay safe
I'm always bummed when PCT hikers get to Washington in the snow because it is GORGEOUS when it's clear.
It's impossible to hear Christmas Time is Here without going, awwwwww.
I am Canadian and that is not Canadian bacon.. lol 😋 😘😎 🍴🥓 that looks like mystery meat bacon. Aka food paste meat product.
Yep, my first thought was "dried pink slime". My second thought was "don't eat that, Dixie!"
You guys ever hiked on a trail before?
Same! I am Canadian and I have never seen this thing in my life haha
Miserable but beautiful. I agree. I can feel the sloshy cold and wet (and cold) socks. The chill that eats into your core. Yeah. Miserable. Yet beautiful. And invigorating. You're getting close, now.
You've got this.
Thanks for sharing.
Aaron, excellent music choices. Complement the scenery without overpowering. Job well done.
Vince Guaraldi - too perfect. Love these videos. Great work!
Beautiful as always! Wet snow is a bummer, powder isn't as bad just colder. Drove from NC to San Francisco saw beautiful clouds but not the Golden Gate Bridge, it was a good laugh.
Brave lady, I hike and hunt all over southern Colorado, I hate cliff trails with a passion. Turns me into a 6’3” 230lb scaredy-cat, but I still do it.She could prolly qualify for the navy seals 😘
Cliffs are risky...
The Christmas music. I can’t. Absolutely gorgeous.
Stay safe and warm!
Yes almost done.. Next CDT after this..binge-watching Dixies videos...
Thanks again Dixie for a fun video.
Smell Canada? Maybe not at this point, but I am sure that Canada smells them!
John McCarty that’s very funny :-)
For me, this has been the prettiest part of the trail. You're really getting so amazing footage. This is definitely inspiring me to make the WA portion of the PCT my first long distance hike.
It's incredible so see you hike through my neck of the words! Sorry the weather wasn't on your side!
Love how all of nature's creatures come out to meet you Miss Dixie!
Dixie, I LOVE the PNW, it calls my heart. Having lived in the midwest, the south, and the northeast, there is no part of the country I have visited that calls me back as does the PNW and all it entails.
tnprime one of my dear friends married a woman from the PNW this year, and she said that the hardest thing about NC weather was the summer humidity. I can't blame her....ive lived here my entire life and it still kills me.
love Seattle; glad you stopped by too - the last stretch really presented a challenge..... expect nothing less and you managed it well :)
The Charlie Brown Christmas made me so happy. I turned it up really loud so my husband could hear it and hopefully my baby could hear it inside my tummy. 🤗
Welcome to my hiking territory, the Pacific Northwest Cascades, where weather will change in the blink of an eye. Can't wait to see your next videos.
I love how you can hear the rain and then the silence of the snow. Well done!! Music choice is great too.
That looked like undercooked turkey bacon
BRRRRRRRR that snowy coldness would make me want to find someone to share a tent with
Go Dixie! You got this!
IT LOOKS GORGEOUS !BE SAFE & CAREFUL! AWESOME PICS & VIDEOS!
Dixie your cinematic eye still impresses me. You have a knack for capturing great images! Loved this video...
Man I love your videos, so close, here we go!
Ahhh Snoqualmie Pass! Dan is definitely a local fixture, he takes care of us locals just the same! Haha. Cup runneth over and all that.
Looking at these again just brings home how excellent they are!!! Great footage married to inspired editing. There are many PCT video collections out there but the combination of the (brute) beauty of the trail, Dixie's great outlook and the skill/creativity of the editor make this a winning combination. Thanks to all (and a whispered TY to the trail......I am coming to tickle you in 2021)
I love all the nature shots of the animal kingdom!
I have visited the US lots of times but always on business and so I was always in a city and I never saw the glorious countryside you have in the US. The views along the PCT are absolutely spectacular. You are very lucky.
We call that lichen "old man's beard" here in Argentina. Can't stop watching your vids!
Same here in Washington.
Thank you! :) That name is fitting, for sure.
I've always called it 'Witches Hair'. I'm from Tacoma, WA. I absolutely love your vids, Dixie. And I recognize almost every spot in the WA section. Good luck with the CDT in '18!!
Thanks for sharing! You will be so happy when you get to Canada!!
aww, love the charlie brown christmas music. you look super tired and bedraggled and then all that rain!! sheesh.
I think this must have been around the same time I was day hiking at Stevens. Hoping the weather cleared for you. We're all rooting for you Dixie.
Jess, you are an inspiration...and one tough woman! I knew many years ago when we would spar in TKD that you were tough - keep going, you are almost done! God bless!
Those mountain trails look amazing.
Great video, helped me sit out storm Ophelia here in Ireland
Looks like you are getting wet...strange weather all around the world...I think Portugal would have liked to have had that rain for their fires...
I loved visiting Ireland!
Ha ha same here. Pretty windy today.
You and your company are amazingly are dedicated hikers. Do budget the rooms you stop in.
This gets me in the holiday mood Dixie. :) Even though it looks cold as....it was beautiful!
I'm Canadian Dixie, and that was like no other bacon I've ever seen. Yuk. great video
This was one of my favorite videos from the PCT. I LOVE the Snowqualmie area and was so looking forward to this section of your hike! Happy too that you got to visit Seattle. That whole area won over this Southern girls heart! You’re almost there!!!
This is what a hero's journey looks like!
I sense that your mind is completely free of the 24-hour news cycle. The stream of continuous bs that only distracts us from what is really important in our personal lives and as a society.
The real danger you have going forward is not a slip on the ice, snow, etc. It's the television set.
Hallelujah Dixie!
I'll admit being hooked on your PCT videos, and was eagerly awaiting this installment. Your videos never fail to be a) informative; b) entertaining; c) inspirational in ways far beyond the actual trail-related content; d) authentic and unpretentious; e) beautiful to behold; f) chatty ;-)... and a few other things I'll probably think of later. It's great how you can just talk "stream-of-consciousness-like" and come out (often) sounding so astute and even philosophically profound (at times). The sincerity of what you've been doing is the strongest force in all this. You being you, doing what you do. Post-trail depression is, however, no doubt soon to be a whopper of a topic for you, but you'll find ways to deal with it. One burning question, though: That was an AeroPress I saw briefly in an earlier PCT video of yours, right? I mean the plunger thing Perk was using for his morning coffee? Brilliant device! Have one, too, and love it. So he actually takes the extra weight in his pack in order to enjoy great coffee! Wow. So here's the question: Into what container does he press it? Does it fit over a lightweight cup of his, and does the cup withstand the pressure needed to press the water through? If there's a cup out there that fits and doesn't weigh a ton, I might be tempted to take my AeroPress on my next "ultralight" hiking trip. ;-)
I have a coffee press made by GSI that exactly fits a 1 liter (1 quart) Nalgene wide-mouth bottle. Works great but you need a separate coffee cup. I bought it at MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) in Canada several years ago.
Thanks for sharing this approach.
I never want these to end. Wonderful just like the others.
One end to the other on this PCT trail is a dangerous ordeal.
Starting to get to my neck of the woods. Other than a terrible misrepresentation of our bacon, you've captured the north in October pretty well. Some of us like to hike year round. Winter hiking secrets: share tents, eat more, dress warm at night (not during the day so much), pick appropriate footwear, and you know that nalgene we all ditched for smartwater? Yeah, it's good again! Keep electronics, and water filter in your sleeping bag or on your person, try to leave camp at first light, you get less to work with. Expect fuel usage to go up quite a bit.
You can do it, Dixie!! Yes, you are in snow country 6 months a year minimum at that latitude..if it ain't fore and smoke, it will be snow and ice detours.. God bless and stay safe...Frank,T. ( California)
a double zero! w00 h00
ooops that is 4 zeros
Go Dixie. Go to Cananda you crazy diamond!
nice work mr editor
This video makes me so happy being a Snoqualmie ski bum local! Thank you for all your great videos!
Great views and edits, once you take steps outside your door, there is no telling what kind of adventures you will find.
I’ve experienced some “beautiful views” on the AT like you saw on the Catwalk! Great job! Almost there. Thank you for the beautiful, enjoyable videos!
Best video yet. Aaron is getting better and better at this with what he includes in these clips and the music he chooses. The blasting part at the beginning was perfect. I laughed at 9:32 the way you said, "Christmas comes early". Reminds me of NH, where I live, and the reason I'm glad I live in a state where you experience 4 seasons. I could feel the cold feet (been there, done that) when walking in the first, slushy, snow of the season without winter footwear. You will forever have a flashback to how cold you were when you view this footage in the future. So beautiful, though...... I hoping at the end Aaron will make a video of the whole hike, maybe an hour or 1 1/2 hours or even two hours long wouldn't be too long ? Would love to see the whole hike in a movie type video.
I've done some trail running up thru that area love the cat walk . yes it would have been beautiful on a clear day its a nice cliff a long way down. thanks great video. 👍
Ah, my stomping grounds! Sorry you had to hike it in bad weather. Those Alpine Wilderness Lakes are amazing. Come back in the summer.
Also so glad you could tour out fair city. I work blocks from Pike Place Market.
Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!
I’m gonna miss the PCT vlogs! It’s crazy how fast the time went. I feel like it was just yesterday that you were talking about wanting to start the PCT. So proud of you Dixie! Next- CDT 2018! Lol! Xoxo
I’m from Arkansas and that is not Canadian bacon haha. Grind to the finish and relish the suffering! You’re a trooper and so proud of you and your trail fam!
SO excited to see you finish this!
I'm a little sad that you didn't get to experience a lot of the amazing beauty of Oregon due to the fires. I'm happy that at least you met a cool chick from Portland, and that the Oregon trail Angels were so good to you. Have fun on the trail, and Oregon hopes to see you again sometime soon.
Thanks Alice! Sending Mojavé thoughts your way as I stopped in Barstow, delivering equiptment enroute to wildfires. Passed over CDT, thought I heard "Jessica" floating on the wind near Coolidge, NM. Peace. : )
Love the lambchop "song that never ends" reference, people do not know that when I reference it some how
I love the Peanut's Christmas music!!!
Welcome to my back yard!
I was hoping it would hold off a little longer for you Dixie!
Tuesday is going to be an absolute shitstorm....We are expecting 60mph winds at sea level.....it will be brutal at altitude!
Try to keep out of the timber until the wind slows a bit. You are in for some horrible weather....It is going to get cold too!
This will blow over and next week will be pretty nice and sunny.
Hope you get this Dixie!
Be safe!
That's turkey bacon, silly Dixie!
I've pent at least 1/3 of my life on or around Snoqualmie Pass, (I live elsewhere now), seeing this segment of you videos made me gut achingly homesick. It's so beautiful, even when it's miserable.
Love the Peanuts Christmas music!!!!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! (no comments on the closing video, so saying it here....). Enjoyed the journey, thank you.
Lol loved the Charlie Brown Christmas Song
Keep moving. Nice Vince Guaraldi music. FYI I was up hiking near Rainy Pass in North Cascades National Park this weekend, and yeah, snow line is at about 4000 feet. You need traction devices. Stay safe and good luck!
Great going Dixie. Love you more each video, O yea, the editor is a genius. Dave
Love the Dale Chihouly glass work, cool
I am so glad when I got ur video in my notifications as I can't wait for ur videos ur doing a wonderful job and I am so proud of u just like all of ur subscribers and can't wait for the next video x
That is 100% not Canadian Bacon.
- Frustrated Canadians
music on point this episode
What do you call a bacon wrapped dinosaur? - Jurrasic Pork.
I would applaud but my arms are too short.
I feel like I’ve hiked the PCT with you. Thanks for sharing these amazing views. Love your videos!!
...it goes on and on my friend...
I love the music score when you are hiking...
I see Jennifer Doolittle is still talking to the animals...
As an old Soldier, my bones started hurting watching you march in the snow...
Looked like microwave bacon. LOL@ the Charlie Brown Christmas music!
Snow was a bit early. In seattle- for next few days massive rain coming. Not sure about rest of wa and mountains. Hope it isn't too bad up there
