What makes and has made this country so great is the variety of people, the mixing pot of differences. If everyone was the same color and had the same mindset, we wouldn't be the country we are today. Great to see you back on a Tom song. I’ve been doing genealogy for 35 years and I’m hella proud of my wife’s and my father’s white ancestors.
My wife’s ancestors lived in Missouri in the 1840/50’s. They had to abandon their homes and farms, in the middle of the night, in winter. They left will what they could carry which, in most cases, was their children and what provisions they could gather. They fled Missouri because of their anti-slavery beliefs. The governor of Missouri feared them being able to influence others, he issued an extermination order against these people. They became aware of this and fled in fear for their lives. Many of them died because of the harsh winter weather.
On my dad’s side, one of his ancestors, who was born and raised in Virginia,refused to fight the “Rich Man’s War” and was thrown in Libby prison for his anti-slavery position. He escaped once and was recaptured. He escaped again and, a southerner, he had to hide from the Union soldiers and being a “Deserter” had to hide from the confederate soldiers. He slowly made his way north, living on the meat of horses killed in battle, as also avoided both armies. He reached Illinois and, lying about his age, got married and raised a family. He was my dad’s great grandfather.
There were also many whites who made the Underground Railroad possible. Harriet Tubman, created the railroad but, being black, she could not actively take part. She relied on whites, dedicated to helping runaway slaves reach freedom. Being white, they could operate in the “Open” serving as Station Masters and Conductors on that virtual railway to freedom.
On my mom’s side, I’m Hispanic. My great grandfather fought in the Spanish American War, for Spain. My grandfather came to the U.S. legally, in 1908 and my mom is first generation Hispanic American. That being said, I am damn proud of my white ancestors and the roles they played in bringing Freedom to all people in America.
I wish that those whites, who risked everything in their fight against slavery, got more respect for their actions. Instead, just by being white, they are attacked for the sins of others, just because they are the same color.
I’m with Dax, yeah, it pisses me off that our ancestors are denigrated for the color of their skin but, that is also, not my identity. I live my life to be the best father to my 4 adult children and the best husband, that I can be, for my wife of 41 years.

Just loved your commentary on this video! Generational curses are a result of a victim mindset. Like you, my family were working class people and we lived hand to mouth. I am the first member of my entire family to attend and graduate college. My mom always taught me to live and let live....treat people the way they act (after you give them enough chances to see if it's just a façade or not).

Dax absolutely owned this!!….but know that there was a reason for Tom and Adams verses as well. Tom’s stereotypical white guys bars and Adams (growing up in a rough part of Chicago) kinda of bridge bars….along with the lightheartedness of the video I believe were to help the medicine of Dax’s 🔥 bars go down…so to speak. And all of it together kind of points out that it’s ok to be who you are no matter who you are…and we really have more in common than differences.

In America you can go from zero to hero with your own merit no matter who your are or where your at in life. I was in a wheel chair 8 years ago, homeless, with nothing, fresh from jail, serving Satan and living a life of hell. I made the decision to change for the better and worked hard to get up out that situation. Now I stand with God, own my own business, drive a hummer, own a property, got my pardon, got up out of the wheel chair walking again and even more I can run and work hard on my feet yet again. *Great r* eaction! Loved the story about NC. I thought the same when I moved to SC back in the late 80s... BUT at that time there were still counties/towns you wouldn't dare go to at night. Big part of that 30 years ago was definately 'generational' like Dax talks about. Haven't lived there since 1990, but things have gotton a lot better as that generation has died off.

I have a 4 year old I couldn't imagine what all of these families are going through. The whole thing is heartbreaking, disturbing and shady. Nothing would surprise me about it because there is pure evil out there that has no problem getting rid of people in their way. 😢
