The ones who say that you can only be black or that it's not okay to be any particular ethnicity other than their own, 100% racist. It's okay to be human beings, regardless of ethnicity, color, or gender. It is NOT okay to be a racist, sexist, bigot, no matter who you are.

I disagree, I think it is okay to be racist or sexist or whatever in the sense that I don't think we should police thought or speech.
We should try to educate them instead and we should have a society open and robust enough that it can discuss and debate difficult subjects rather than censor and cancel.
Sure it may be offensive but we have learned that the moment you give power to the victim mentality they will be perpetually offended and demand all speech but theirs be closed down.

@@Muckylittleme By allowing bigotry to continue to have a voice you allow hate crimes and genocide to be perpetrated around the world. End of story.

      @@Leathurkatt Totally disagree.
Where genocide happens there is always totalitarian rule and the first things totalitarians do is shut down speech.
If you are not going to "allow bigotry" then you are saying you are going to forcibly shutdown all opinion you consider offensive or bigoted.
Well I find that opinion bigoted and conceited, so by your own philosophy should I demand you be shutdown and if you were would that help in anyway or have you feel differently or would it make you more hateful and resistant to counter opinion?
I have no idea why people think that cutting out a mans tongue will make him more inclined to see your point of view.
What a strange philosophy to want people you disagree with shutdown, cancelled, interned and ultimate killed (Because that is always where it ends) because you believe you are morally superior to those who disagree with you.

I love U as a white woman and I hate to say it in color but it has to be said. I believe so many more white people DON'T get up in the morning thinking how they are ging to f.. up any black person't life today or any one else for that matter. They thinking of what they gotta do in their own lives because it is a survival game. I don't care what color you are you gotta DO YOU and stop being a victim and using racism as an excuse to fail. Bizarrely enough, I was accused of being racist because I do not and have never felt romantically or sexually attracted to black or asian men. It's like saying gay guys are sexist for not being attracted to women, or claiming straight people are homophobic because they're not attracted to the same gender as their own. It was frankly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life, to be honest. Just because I am not interested in dating someone doesn't make me a bigot. People are allowed to have romantic and sexual preferences, it's part of being human. I have friends and people I know from all over the world, all of them good and decent human beings. It's just really bizarre that some will nitpick the stupidest things to hate others for and project their own bigotry onto others to justify their hate.

Kudos to you for being a thoughtful, intelligent man. People need these discussions. We'll never understand each other without talking about it and sharing our experiences.
In the town I grew up in, there was only one black family. We've been friends for almost 40 years now. They're some of a few lifelong friends that check on me. I live about an hour from one, and we try to get together occasionally. The first time after I moved to the area, he warned me that his Hispanic wife feels uncomfortable around white people. That made me nervous, and I was on eggshells the whole time 😅. We've gotten more comfortable now, but I thought you might get some amusement from it. We're all just people and the unknown can be nerve-wracking.
Way back in the 80s, we really thought we were well on our way to overcoming racism. It's better than it was, but it saddens me that we have so far still to go.

As a half-German, half Cherokee man (who's own father didn't get the right to vote in his home state of Virginia until 1967, after he fought and was grievously wounded in WWII), my first real exposure to having someone be racist towards me was a black student at my high school in the 90s (FYI, my dad's marriage to my mom was his second). Did I start hating black folk? Hell no. I live by Dr. King's dream, in that I want to judge and be judged by the content of their (my) character. It's the only way, honestly.

I think this is the first time I've come across your channel and really appreciate your rational demeanor. It's sad, but the divide is growing right now. I grew up in an area of the country where skin tone meant pretty much nothing, and we could just be ourselves around each other.
I actually appreciate that both the one lady and the woke white guy spoke their feelings, as I would rather know who they are inside.
You are right in saying.. just ask the question. There are some actual malevolent racists, but the majority are just ignorant. Ignorance will never be cured without being able to speak freely and have others speak freely back. You can generally tell, if you are genuine, when something is said just to piss you off and when something is said out of actual curiosity.

    Agree
I grew up in a very small (under 1000) town with only 2 black families. Went I was still very little and just walking and sucking my thumb>>>I remember seeing one of the black families out shopping where we were. They had a kid about my same age and sucking their thumb... I asked them if their thumb was chocolate and they asked if mine was vanilla. Because as a kid, that was important to me.
    I still remember that...and I am old.

I have said it MANY TIMES, I am so glad that my Dad was in the Navy from the time I was 4 yrs until after I graduated high school. I was brought up around all races and I have NEVER in my life ( and I'm 49 now ) heard a lady like the one or a total idiot like the white guy. They both need to start doing some praying for their ugliness, along with any other racist people out there. I have a beautiful niece who is mixed and I can't even start to count all of my cousins who are or have been in interracial relationships. I dated a guy in high school who was half Cuban/ half Puerto Rican. When I say ugliness I'm speaking of their soul and heart. Last I heard, God said love all. I've read the Bible front to back. I don't go to church because I was once told I wasn't reading it the right way. Whatever that means. The 12 disciples went their separate ways and were able to speak in tongues. If you think about it, and I'm not saying I'm right but what if those 12 original dialects just expanded to the languages we have now. Chinese, French, German, Spanish and all the others. I don't think God makes mistakes, we just don't always see that what has happened in the past is impacting our lives still today.

I grew up in the late 70s and my first love was a black boy. We were only in our late teens but I loved him so much. People call me white but I’m actually from the Choctaw tribe. So I’m Native American Indian. With a little Irish too but only 18% Irish.
My mom was fine with our love but when his mom found out, she said “Get that white Whore out of my house”! I was only 16 and I was a virgin! She wouldn’t even let Bemond drive or walk me home. I cried all the way home. I knew he wouldn’t go against his mom. My heart was broken and it took me a long time to get over him. His mother said “Over my dead body will my son be with a white devil.” As I walked out of their home, the father says to me “Do you live far from here?” The mother then said “Oh hell no! She can walk her A$$ home”. I lived about 2 or 3 miles away but I walked it. We never talked again. I hope you lived a great life Bemond and I will ALWAYS LOVE YOU!

What a wonderful and thoughtful discussion you shared with us. I grew up in an immediate family that believed what that one woman believes. Through the years that I lived home, they taught me everything NOT to be. It was hard and they didn't like it but I refused to sail on their ship. I will always be kind and open to meeting people of other races and nationalities. To me, that is what life is about. There was one time in my adult life when I felt uncomfortable being white and that was when I lived in Oklahoma. I had Native American neighbors who I thought was okay. One day the mother said, "The only illegal immigrants here in the States are blonde hair, blue eyed people." ....as I stood before her with the blonde hair and blue eyes that I was born with. As I walked to my house, I actually was thinking about how to alter what I look like. If you know me, you would know that I have never colored my hair or anything but I was considering it that day. Colored contacts would have covered my blue eyes. After I got home I realized how absurd my thoughts were. I did end up moving out of OK. though. Her words never left my head and since there is such a large Native American presence in OK., I always wondered how many others felt that way. But I left OK. after an ef5 tornado brushed the west side of the town we lived in. Mother Nature's actions spoke a bit louder than my neighbor's words. Thanks for your reaction to this video. You sure stimulated thought. Take care and be well. Peace.

The framing of the statement, "Its ok to be white." generally, is such as saying, "Its ok to be racist." I believe most rational people agree that it is not ok to be racist, its abhorrent. Without any connotation (wheter dictated by the social climate and political scales that are in place right now), There is nothing wrong with "being (a) white (sic. person)" And the opposition is also true, its ok to be black, asian, etc. The connotation is what gives this question a darker meaning but is also the point of the question, it weeds out 10% of a populace who are generally (and genuinely) "bad" people. Dichotomy at scale. Fear of someones tribe (race, people who look like you, mannerisms, hell even entertainment) is a normal natural reaction. Vitriol and vehemence are abnormal to nature and should be addressed, despite skin color, economical status, political alignment. The real crux is there continues to be walls put in place where rational discussion of said topic is almost impossible without some emotion based response. Are there bad white people? Absolutely. Are there bad black people? absolutely. Dichotomy of scale and even to an extent, Occam's razor, suggest that these are the minority and their view is not only abnormal but typically amplified by the way people think. The self proclaimed racist lady dictates the conversation and even answers for others because narcissistic tendencies are at the fore front of her life. And its a shame that the same ideology will still be passed on to her offspring. Spread love not hate. People can be woke and spread love and people can be based and spread love. we are all in it together whether anyone likes it or not.
    Cheers.

It depends on definitions, concepts. Is it okay for me to have pale skin? To be from (mostly) western Europe? Of course! But is it okay for "whiteness" to be a standard of existence? No. Is it okay for people of a particular group to have advantages that others do not? No.
The history of which groups were considered "white" is very interesting. Originally, Irish people were not considered "white" until late 19th century. Italians, even later...
We need to find a way to understand that race is actually a human construct based on a combination of skin color/physical attributes and geographical/ethnic heritage.
People are really more alike than different.
I also wanted to point out that many of the things that you talked about happening in "black" neighborhoods are the results of poverty, alienation and disenfranchisement.
Many of those same problems exist in "white" neighborhoods because the conditions are the same, but the othering of black people makes it okay to promote the idea that violence, poverty, addiction, etc is just a black problem. Keeps the 99% divided so the 1% stays in power.

Trying to get caught up on some of your videos! I have found that bad ideas and warped personalities come in all shades. Discrimination exists in most cultures across the world in the form of "us" versus "them" and general stereotying. The real issue is that the ability to destroy learned behavior/beliefs requires an open mind, and the numbers on that particular attribute within the current population appear to be dwindling. 🤷‍♀️

I'm nearly 80, my first crush aged 8 was the black singer Billy Ekstine, I thought he was the most beautiful person I had ever seen, as I grew up, although I dated white guys, because I never met any other race where I lived, I always was attracted to black faces on the tv and films. In the 1990s my life changed and Jamaicans became my world, on my first trip there I felt I had found where I was most at peace. Am I racist because I like brown men with dreads and not pale men with light hair? The singer Rod Stewart only likes blondes, we all have preferences, but that doesn't mean we dislike other people or hate those who are different. Another thing that annoys me is when the descendents of slaves tell me we white people 'owe' them reparation, the people of Great Britain paid for the freedom of the enslaved from their 'owners', the reparation we paid was to the poor souls who had suffered in the form of their freedom, their descendents are owed nothing, I, and the rest of the uk, through our taxes to the government finally paid off the loan for that freedom in 2015!!!!! That's how much it cost to free them from the atrocious life they were subjected to, and the Portugese started the slaves routes and bought far more Africans than the uk. It is a terrible part of our history, but slavery was common then, and the biggest winners were the African slavers themselves who cared nothing for their own people. Sadly a lot of mainly West Indians have the same attitude as the lady in the video, it is drilled into them from birth, their lives are not as good as they would like and blaming others is the easy option, although I cede it is a lot harder to be poor in the States. We do have racism over here, especially black against Asian, but most of us are happy to be together, accepting and enjoying our differences, I saw a black American guy on the tv over here on holiday, it was heartbreaking to hear him say that for the first time in his life he felt like a man and equal to those around him, someone white held a door open for him!!! No ones life should be like that, but I felt proud that he experienced that in England. Love your reactions, keep your good heart always.

So you said you wanted everyone to feel comfortable talking about things ask questions you may feel you can't ask ect. I am white. And one thing that I've thought of so many times black peoples hair. I often see the different styles like really curly or dred locks and braids. I love the looks they look cool as shit my hair would never do that or look like that its different and the difference makes me so curious. There have been times where I was like I want to feel their hair the dress and braids but I know I can't just be like can I feel your hair its rude I think and they might feel offended and I'm not like talking about some random person I don't know i might think damn I want to feel their hair but I would never ask thats Hella weird. But a friend I wouldn't want to ask because I wouldn't want them to feel any type of way. Am I seriously weird for wanting to know what it feels like I'm not gonna ask to actually do that but am I weird for wanting and thinking damn thats some cool ass hair style wish I could feel it lol...hope someone out ther...I hope I'm not alone.

lol I get it. And our hairs come in a lot of different curl patterns. Meaning that some people hair (like my natural hair) have a tighter curl pattern. So you’ll see their hair may look short one day but extremely long on another. That’s because they stretched it out with heat or another method. My dad for example has much looser hair so his looks more wavey than mine. I have locks now which is a style and technically not natural since my hair gets twisted into these thicker strands and maintained to stay that way. There are “free form” dreds where people allow their hair to do it’s own thing without styling it. Similar to what jay z or j cole has. As far as how it feels, imagine your hair but a lot more coily lol

Interesting question. I watched Chris Rock's documentary about black people's hair and salon/barbershop culture. It seems many black people feel the same way as this white commenter: they don't like their own hair and wish it could be more like the other guy (or girl). They sometimes abuse their hair with chemicals to make it straight like a white person. It can damage the scalp.
Personally I think nobody should be ashamed of who or what they are. People should never be made to feel they're inferior or less than. We're all one race: the human race. Yes we have differences. That should be celebrated. Variety is the spice of life. But where it matters--deep in our hearts--we're all human beings. Embrace your uniqueness and celebrate it in others.

Hi Blunt. I grew up in South Africa and I never understood this color thing. My opinion is that, if you`re a dick, you`re a dick. If you`re a hater... you`re a hater. You can`t go around and change the color on a person. It`s not a fucking color in book. It`s also not a motor. This is a black one so it has 300 HP. But the white one has 330 PS. It`s people and so, a good person is good and a bad one is bad. Lots of us has so much to do to get better. Maybe we should help each other. Just try and you could be surprised . I did...
