By far, best demos in youtube. 10/10
This is basically exactly what I was looking for, I started thinking about it a few weeks back, they're reading my mind!!!
Of course we do. And by the way still have nightmares about what we found in there, you might wanna talk to a professional and get this sorted. :/
@@TwoNotestv omg hahahaha
Just bought one, haven't used it yet but super excited. Even with my 20 watt marshall and my 4x12 my stage volume has been too much so I'm hoping the 20 dB attenuation will get me where I want and the front of house will be amazing!
Writing that PDF and making it available is an ace move. Thx Henning!
The Two Notes engineerings have read my note on their forum and the noise gate is here :-)!!! Thanx a lot!
Thank you for consistently making the most informative product videos!
I love that you can have a Danny Devito tone on one side and an Arnold Schwarzenegger tone on the other side via the Twins tracker!
Last year I ALMOST bought a captor + cabm but stopped myself at the last minute hoping that twonotes would combine the two someday. Glad I decided to wait!
I still wonder if the two separate are worthwhile, only because you can have CabM on your board, which might mean flexibility in certain situations. I agree that this looks really impressive and I need to look at the manual to see all the setup options.
@@alexbreyer6921 I was thinking the same thing at first but bluetooth control for the captorX seems just as good if not better than having another box on my board. Either way though, agreed, I need to look at the manual and see some more reviews when it's officially launched and the software's out of beta.
"Hello guitar player out there that like things quieter, or and/or also with the cabely into things and then they sound great."
Ich habe mich schon lange nicht mehr so direkt angesprochen gefühlt, danke Chef. :D
All I can say to this is that the intro was overly loud.
love the Robo ears! It makes the in the room sound in my headphones so sweet :) now if we can get that smell o vision to capture that new gear smell of outgassing plastics, fresh cut metals, and a hint of delivery truck. MMM new gear smell.
the torpedo grapic in the thumbnail was a bit ..how you say...because penis or at least TWSS
Ok Ok Henning, this was a good solid demo of this really great unit. I think I can see so many reasons why everyone needs one. I do have a Kemper and love it. I have tube amps and love them just the same. I really need an avenue of attenuation to practice with the amps at home and run into studio monitors or my interface and maybe even run to a real speaker cabinet at the SAME TIME. I think I can do that right? This seems to fully fit the bill and some. I am a newbie to this stuff like the cab sim box units. I think it would be cool to do a dumbed down video of hooking this up and using it. I know I know read the manuel but I really get the feeling that a lot of the UA-camrs, while having a,lot more experience with products such as this due to YOUR TUBE posting, that you guys forget that all of us newbies kinda sorta maybe want one of these but is not totally sure if we want it or need it. We think we may need it but.......... Blessings and goodness to you and your family in 2020.
You can absolutely do that!
Many people keep asking "Can I plug a 16 Ohm amp into the Captor X and a 16 Ohm Cabinet at Speaker out?" if using Orange gear for example? - Yes you can, but only if you keep the inbuilt attenuator on ZERO. As soon as you actively use the Captor's attenuator (Step 1 or 2) or the Amp without a cabinet, please load it with 8 Ohms amp out. That's the safest way to go and also what the Two Notes Help desk told me. Thank's Henning for all the great and helpful clips!
Its not whats in the manuaL tho... got just the captir but it states to go into the amp output reating to the ohms of the captor. The ohm of thr cab does not matter in this case. So if u got a 16 ohm cab and 16 ohm captor. Just go into the 16 ohm out of the amp (!!?)
Got mine yesterday. I was looking for something to replace my Kemper, which I got rid of some months ago. Practice and recording at night or every time I don't want to bother my neighbours... these are basically my use cases.
I use it with a Fender 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue. At first I was really curious about the sound through phones, with all that virtual cabinet stuff. It took me less than 20 minutes to dial in a great clean tone; yes, a clean tone! That's something units like this usually still kind of struggle with. Have yet to try third party IRs. Now, I didn't really get this so much for the attentuation part, but my Princeton sounds, well, okay-ish at 2.5, considerably better at 4.5 or 5 - which brings some nice compression and dirt. With the Captor's attentuation on half, I can now get this without giving my neighbours a heart attack. So damn cool!
Thanks for the great and comprehensive video. It sure was the last bit I needed to finally make the purchase. Very happy!
i am a Kemper user and I am contemplating selling the Kemper for an amp head + this thing.
do you regret selling the Kemper? let me know about your experience!
@@joshuabenton3785 While the Kemper might be a fantastic tool for working musicians and producers, it didn't inspire me. I bought it back in 2014 when I was recording and playing out a lot; for that it was perfect.
When I got back to writing stuff I found I would most of the time settle with the same couple of profiles (some Princeton profiles, some Plexi stuff) and that was it... at the same time, I was constantly searching for ways of using the Kemper so I can get more of an "amp experience", but nothing really stuck with me. It was when I had purchased the Princeton and basically didn't use the Kemper anymore for playing that I decided to finally let it go. I just love being able to play a real amp.
Haven't looked back since. And probably won't in the future.
Maybe down the line I'll get an Iridium or something similar for super easy gigs where I can't be bothered to bring the Princeton, but that might be it... recording and writing with the Captor is a breeze. When recording, I'll sometimes even capture three signals: a clean DI (using a Lehle splitter), the Captor signal without cab and a mic in front of my amp. But I also recorded quick takes with just the Captor (including virtual cab) that I'll happily use in a mix.
So, that's my story thus far. And it's only been a few days of owning it!
It just works and keeps me going. That's why I love it.
@@indisguiseFUCK thank you so much for this! i think i am realizing i just want an amp 🙃
I cancelled my order on an iso cab and placed an order for this instead. Can't wait for it to arrive
Wise choice. I’ve never heard an ISO cab that sounded like the cab in a room mic’d. Too boxy.
Hahahahahahaahhahaahhahhhhhaaaaaaaa! At 2:45 could be one of the best off the cuff advertisement moments EVER! To Two Notes, this is one of the best promos conceived. You should take advantage of it.... Austin is now considering this over the Cab M for his live and studio rigs. He says Hi... Great review HP! Please say hi to Leslie. Much Aloha & Mahalo!
Been waiting to see if the Suhr IR box would drop in price after Namm. Looks like there’s a new boss on the block, glad I waited. Me want this!
So let me get this straight... I now as a bedroom player, can buy a valve head, buy this box, plug in some headphones and get real cranked out valve sounds, through my headphones?
correct
For under 1000k
suhr reactive load ir, although it does less for more
@@007bennett 1k* cause 1000k would be 1 million
Yes but there is no aux in to play on back tracks, so you need a mixer, and therefore the headphone out is useless because mixers can take xlr
This came at the PERFECT time. Great video, brother. Goodbye tax return!!
I am still fond of my Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8. I like the line out feature. I like to drive stereo fx to other amps with that method. Wish they would make a stereo cab M.
MIME IS MONEY!!!! Billy Crystal...Dana Carvey...Man, what a brilliant film! Oh yeah, great demo, Henning!
Ahh, now I get why there's a pink torpedo in the thumbnail. lol
It sounds like an awesome product. Good review.
I have only watched the first 7 minutes so far and already want that thing! GIMME GIMME GIMME!!! :-D
Better buy St.Rock React IR
Hello Henning! After your videos, I finally bought a Captor X. Thanks!
I’m trying to decide between the captor x and the Ironman 2. I don’t need all the live features, twin tracking, etc. I mostly just want the best load box/attenuator and cab sims.
as an attenuator the Captor X isn't great... the Ironman is much better... but it as a cabsim the Ironman is not good... no digital cab sims... so neither covers what you want.
The Ox is a killer cab sim (no IR loading) and as an attenuator is does a good job, but there are better attenuators... Ironman II, Fryette Powerstation
So far there is no perfect box on the market!
Yes! this is exactly what I need.
I was going to bypass this unit due to the fixed 8ohm issue (I have 16ohm Marshall and orange cabs) and the limited attenuation options. This video has sold me though. It’s just the right price for what it does. Preorder placed.
I’m just gonna say what we’re all thinking “LOVE YOU MAN”
Awesome video. I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Way too loud for home (apartment) use, so I’m thinking of getting either the Captor X or a Tone King Ironman II with a Two Notes CabM+. Do you have a preference between the two setups?
Are you using the torpedo X as an attenuator?
Dude no way! This is too divine to my ears.
I LOVE this upgrade of the captor!!! Great product imo!
I used to have to stay after practice in the studio to do what I can do in my bedroom with this thing.
Aaaand there goes UA’s and Boss’ market share... le French have done it! I am interested to see if this replaces your OX as you go-to amp box 😊
no, I like the digital out on the OX because it doesn’t block both XLR inputs on my Apollo Twin.
@@EytschPi42 I don't know how you can manage several input sources without having a mixer or at least a Bentam switch or something?
Love all of your videos but this is one of the best. Great explanation and demo of the feature set. Well done! And remember, mime is money!
2:35-2:37 you just recreated Rage against the Machine's intro to Bulls on Parade. Genius Henning. Without even knowing it, Le genius 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Two notes i le love em
Just got one because of it wasn’t enough that George Lynch released his cans virtually through them, but Steve Steve’s did as well!!
It was just too much for me, so I broke down and ordered it! Now able to get incredibly good sounds without wasting an hour with mic placement etc!
But the power cable included in the box is short. That`s what she said. (Speaking of more new packages, with a power supply not as in the video).
This looks amazing... and solves every issue I could think of.... to add a stereo effects loop for my old amp would make it absolutely perfect for me. Although I guess I can run the lines out into wet effects. Just a shame you can’t slot them in before that beautiful sounding onboard stereo reverb. Tube amp expander I believe has this but boss blew it by not making it compatible with iOS/ Android..... at least in my opinion. Great video 👍👍👍
Yeah exactly that is one of the biggest issues with boss TAE ..
Specifically what features/functionality would having the BOSS be phone compatible add? I’m confused
Is the Space knob act as reverb? Where is reverb on this box? I'm going to buy one. Thanks
That’s a great clean tone you have going on there and I’m not even a clean tone guy,top product this one
Two Notes sounds more real to me than other new boxes. It's not a thin sound. It will be cool to to see how the attenuator acts compare with other attenuators, for ex the reload.
Thank you! Just added to my cart for purchase at Sweetwater.
This thing is what all guitar player want
Would love to see an A/B against the UA Ox Box
2 times cheaper. I own the Torpedo Live it works amazing. I am also a UAD consumer, but I must say that IMHO Two Notes really is more customer centric than UAD. UAD is like Apple : works like a charm, very integrated, but pricey and not cross-platform / modulable. Their latest release LUNA is a try to put you even deeper in their rabbithole. If you enjoy it great, but it s not my idea of how things should be done. I really enjoy my Apollo though !
@@damienhorn1706 I am somewhat annoyed with UAD at the moment. I have appolo's, traded from my Lynx and I am very disappointed I did so. Had an OX..sold it. The only. attenuator and speaker sim I have been happy with have been two notes.
Love the shirt! Great review thx😎👍
Just got one. It's freaking amazing. The only thing I'm missing is a button that would allow me to switch monitoring of sound from the monitors to my guitar cab or both. I need to physically unplug the guitar cab from the Captor if I want to only play through monitors.
dual mono and dry/wet outputs sound AMAZING for live monitoring applications :D
Well it’s certainly prettier than the OX.
I passed on the captor because it only was full volume or -20db. This seems to have rectified that mistake somewhat. I like that it has the stored IR’s in there and knowing 2N, you can likely edit those and make them how you want. This might replace my Torpedo Live finally.
Thank you for your reviews, would highly recommend/Awesome
A quick overview of how ohms/amps/cabs work in relation to this 8ohm only RL would certainly help me. I have a bunch of combo amps and would like to know how they should be set to interface with this unit optimally. I saw that you said it could probably safely be used at others, but I’d like to know how to set the amps output, etc if there are options. Granted maybe I am being stupid or overly concerned. Lol
Excellent review and device
Very good video. I like when you are more serious in your demo LOL!
I would like to try this but I hear a strange response in the low end. It's sounds a bit dark too.
to my understanding there is no line-input, so i wouldn't be able to also use it as a cab-simulator on a DI setup, like a syn-1, when i get tired of my tube-amp and want to switch to something else, right?
So in this case i'd be better off with a CAB M and a separate captor?
It really is sold out now.
However it's missing a aux in to go with the headphone out.
So you need to buy a mixer, to mix headphone out with a backtrack.
But if you buy a mixer then you don't need headphone out since there is a XLR in on the mixers.
I got it and it's great, I can finally enjoy my amp with headphones. That's almost the price of my amp though, but really that's worth it, for the cab simulation.
I love your videos and your enthusiasm. I also appreciate you using English. If I had to rely on what little German I know, I'd likely go to the guitar store and ask for some sort of hygiene product or something equally embarrassing.
Hello, first of all thank you very much for your demos, they are very enjoyable and instructive!
I've been thinking about buying a load box for days. I'm hesitating between Universal Audio's Ox and Captor x. which of the 2 do you think is better? thinking about recording home studio and live. Thank you
I asked Two Notes and they are some plans for maybe developing a 16 Ohms Version which i would really look forward too
Deichwerkstatt we are listening! The first batch will be 8 ohms.
There will be a 16 Ohm Version, i am pretty sure. A 8 Ohms Version is useless for my Studio Setup...
Deichwerkstatt what’s your current setup?
Justin Bryant when i have to Record silent i use a DI Box and the Wall of Sound Plugin. But Most of the time i record fullblast with a Sennheiser E906 and a old ribbon mic. Here i can turn up the volume full.
Deichwerkstatt amp and cab - as you mentioned the 16 ohm ?
33:34 I had to pause this and just stare for a second, omfg 😳
Le Track you played sounds Le Fantastic !!!! :) ....cheers
I wish that the captor X have format of the CAB M or HX-STOMP. Maybe next winter NAMM.🙏🏽
Great demo! At some point, could you detail your signal path for reamping? (soup to nuts, PC interface, reamp box, etc) Thanks!
I don’t EVER reamp, I don’t think it makes much musical sense.
Super impressive demo
Great video/playing, great product. Thanks! cool shirts btw :)
Awesome demo dude. Thanks!
Wooooooow!!!!!!!!!!
Wow - best video I've watched for a long time.
Will you compare Captor X to Captor + CAB M combo? I'm curious how the attenuation feature on X compares to -20db output on the regular one.
I was about to get excited that it's the perfect box for live use.... until I reminded myself there are sound engineers who should not stand behind the mixing desk EVER. And the last thing you want to do is to show up at a gig, tell the unknown 'sound' enigneer that you can run your amp completely silent, they tell you how every guitar player should be like you and how you can not bother taking out the cab at all because it will muddy up their mix, then you spend your whole gig looking at your fretboard, because they did S@#T job at giving you any signal on stage. If you don't / can't / won't pay for your own sound engineer, bring a CAB M still, which already is gracious enough, along with a regular cab.
Hey Radek. If you want to go silent on stage, you NEED to be in control of your monitors, one way or another. Many bands we work with just have the IEMs (or floor monitors) and their own rack monitor mixer, so no surprise.
This is very informative... If you wouldn't the speaker load and only wanted to use it as a DI would you still go for Two Notes instead of the Cabzeus or the ADA GCS-6... there is a big price difference, no?
Awesome review! The best so far
I have an Engl Ironball (standard), which has an integrated Loadbox and a frequency-corrected output for the Cabsim. I was considering going from the send to a CabM or getting the CaptorX right away. The twin track option is a remarkable argument, especially for live use🤔
Captor X is the way to go
@@EytschPi42 👍🏽Thx
Keep up the awesome work!
Did they miss the mark with the fixed attenuations of 0, -20, -38?? Minus 20db would be far to quiet for rehearsal or on stage yes? Minus 10 would be great.
Soooo... running the attenuator into a cab, do you only have three volume levels? Or is there some adjustment in between? Also, If you are running a booster into the front of your amp head, and attenuating into a cabinet, would you be able to get a lead boost? Or would that be attenuated down to the same level as your rhythm? Thanks, Love your reviews!
As someone who primarily plays drums... US DRUMMERS NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS! 😭
This thing seems amazing! I just ordered the C.A.B. M for my bass rig needs. Judging by the public opinion on the Two Notes stuff, it should be a great addition to my setup. :)
Can you plug XLR directly to studio monitors or do you have to go through an audio interface first?
Also, I have a scarlet 2i2 so I guess the XLR outs of the captor x go to the front inputs on the scarlet set to line? - then pan tracks left and right in cubase?
Cant wait to get a captor X. Ordered one at Thomann :D
How does this compare to the Suhr Reactive Load IR?
Awesome demo as usual! And love the drums on the track, drum machine or real drums?
Holy shit those reverbs sound even better than the helix!
Hey Henning. Any thoughts about the sound with headphones? I am looking for a silent practice and recording solution.
yeah me too!
I got the torpedo live.. you think the captor makes the torpedo live outdated and obsolete?
In my opinion, maybe a bit but totally not outdated. Of course, Torpedo Live does not have any Bluetooth connectivity and even these stereo modes etc. Only advantage of Torpedo Live that it is in rack unit and has ability to change parameters on the fly, without connecting external devices. I already own Cab M, Captor (yeah, could have waited with buying of these two) and Torpedo Live, and I am pretty sure I will buy Captor X, just to not rely on two devices when gigging live :)
The twin tracker sounds so fucking awesome
Great video... I’ve only had the Captor 16 for a few weeks, and I love it! This one sounds great too... a significant difference in price tho?
You should try out the Cab M w/ your Captor 16.
I’m new to all this attenuation load box stuff and am a bit confused. Can you still have the output from the amp, through the Captor X into the real cab AND use the XLR out to get dual tracked sound out of the PA? i.e. sound on stage and front of house? Or is it one or the other?
you can have both
EytschPi42 Awesome! That’s great thanks! Love your channel.
What Henning meant was le both...
This is awesome, Henning can You check if it's working of You use stereo cable from Captor X to stereo delay and reverb pedals and then to Your interface/sound card line in? I use my captor like that, but i use w.o.s. for ir's.
should work fine
@@EytschPi42 of course i mean the "phones" output because it's stereo.
I want to buy that, but it is hard to find. Sold out in every music store!
From the video thumbnail this is about the two notes Tordildo capture
I just wanted to say, I’m subscribing because of the Tim Curry reference. That is all.
First sounds at 11:00 viewers.
after watching this, i think i'll go with boss waza tube amp expander ..
So, if buy this, your already purchased Torpedo CAB M is useless right? am I right to say that, this is everything that CAB M has plus loadbox and stereo DI outs?
Yes, but Cab M has LINE IN
Can you turn down the speaker volume to zero for silent practice or do you need to unplug the cable to the speaker?
The double tracker would be GREAT for recording guitarists who just cant seem to play a passage the same twice...
Love your content, but you're missing a Fuchs Audio amp in your background! keep up the good work!
So no more phantom voltage?
fantastic video!! well done!!
please everyone turn to .75 speed. it is beautiful magic
great video any speed
This is awesome!!!!!!!
Does the onboard effects come through the amp speakers like the Waza TAE ? Sounds great btw nice demo!!
no they don’t
I was apprehensive of getting the Two Notes captor X, for two major reasons. 1) I have never come across a digital modeler unit that has sold me or impressed me. 2) The cost is a little steep for something that will be outmoded within 5 years. That being said, this thing is the biz!!!!! I was immediately impressed and it performs and sounds as I expect anything at its price point to perform. I had a Strymon Iridium that I was never really happy with, It sold today, because hours after plugging the Captor X in, I knew the Iridium was never going to compete. I design and build guitar amps. I have a few guitar cabs in my arsenal to use for testing and tone shaping, but I am limited to those options. The solution I had was to use the Strymon as an IR loader. I could take a tap off of my amps and feed it into the Strymon to experience different guitar cabs. It was never good enough to trust. The Captor X absolutely SLAYS on the Strymon! The best $600 guitar cab solution you can possibly get right now.
yeah... the Iridium is a very different product and not meant to be used that way. With real amps, the Captor X is the way to go.
