      It is a highly personal decision and you are the only one who can truly answer why you want to make the move, and if you will be satisfied if you are unable to get into a surgical specialty here.
      However, a Nigerian IMG matched into General surgery last week and he will.be joining us for a Q n A in the near future so subscribe, that way you receive notification for the event.
      Below is a link to his detailed experience towards matching into surgery in Canada.

    Hello! Nice video! But I have 1 question. My residência program in Brazil covered rotation (4 weeks) of: emergency medicine (adult and pediatrics), ObGyn, Pediatrics. But lack of general surgery and psychiatry. Question in, once i have finished my residence, my university offers rotation of 4 weeks in those lacking areas…do that will fulfill the requirements?

    Hi dear Dr
    I am orthopedic surgeon with 2 years of experience practicing in Lesotho.
    From your presentation, I have learnt that PRA mainly suits well for family medicine.
    Do you think orthopedic surgeons are also candidates?
    Thank you

    Thank you Dr Shayee for the valuable information. I have 1 question about the 1 year of medical training in family medicine outside Canada. Is it possible to return to my country (Vietnam) to complete 1 year of family medicine training and return to Canada with that certificate to continue the medicine pathway in Canada? Secondly, is it mandatory to have a family medicine diploma (2 year in my country) or just certification (could be 1 year) for PRA program in Saskatchewan? Thank you and have a nice day!

    Thank you Dr Sheyi for taking out the time to give us this info. I'm considering the SIPPA pathway, can you kindly gubernatorial me a feedback if I'm eligible, I have 1year internship, 3 + years post internship practice as a medical officer in Nigeria, a 3+year gap after that and recently completed a 14week recency of practice in Family medicine. I also passed the qe1. Am I eligible to apply for SIPPA?

    I appreciate your help.

      First, you submit all aforementioned documents and apply for the sippa program. There is a prescreen process that confirms your eligibility and go ahead, after TDM, you are placed in a waiting queue till you get invited for a field assessment of 3 months

    Hello Dear, Hope you are doing well. I am from Pakistan and i am a Radiologist. After my MBBS ,i did my Fellowship degree (FCPS ) in diagnostic Radiology. I am shorly moving to Canada and wish to know how can i start my career in Canada and which province should i opt,where i can practice and what are the pathways for me.
    Warm Regards

      Unfortunately i am not aware of any pathway to continue in practice without starting afresh. I know 2 practicing IMG radiologists, 1 of them was over 15 years in practice prior to Canada, she applied for residency here to retrain and completed re-training in Canada. The other did his residency in the UK and a fellowship here in Canada. My advice will be to keep all provinces open as options and individually contact the registration body for each province to inquire for uptodate information.

    Just to clarify the 1year house job with rotations as you mentioned and 4+yrs of practice is eligible for PRA?

    • @imgchroniclesinternational3301

      No, 1 year housejob only is not sufficient. It has to be at least 2 years of FM post grad training (1 year housejob can account for 1 of the required 2 years)

      Hi, with the Canadian pathway, the first thing is your residency. You have to either be a permanent resident of Canada or a citizen to apply for these positions.

      You unfortunately cannot transfer your skills here based on current requirements. You will have to retrain here in Canada as an O/G. However, I always advice you contact the licensing authority of the province you are residing in to inquire about uptodate requirements. Things constantly change here in Canada.

    Hie Doc thank you for the video very helpful indeed. I was under the impression that as an IMG I'm not eligible to sit for the NAC OSCE is this the case or can I apply? I just recently passed MCCQE-PART-I and not sure what to do next, if I'm eligible as an IMG to sit for NAC OSCE may kindly advice on the resources I can use and also you did mention in your video that you are an instructor how can I access your teaches?

      Hi Fungai, the NAC OSCE exam is specifically for only IMGs, it is the clinical exam you sit for towards residency application. Visit the MCC website to familiarize yourself with the exam.
      There are resources there, as well as AIMGA website. Alberta International Medical Graduate Association website.
      There are study groups there that you can join.

    Hello Doctor ! I am an IMG from India, and I’ve done 1 year internship and I have 3 years of work experience as a general practitioner with the Indian government.
    Do I need Family Medicine Post Graduate Training ? Can I get that training in Canada or India ? Doesn’t my experience as a GP count as family medicine post grad ?

    • @imgchroniclesinternational3301
      @imgchroniclesinternational3301  2 роки тому

      Hi, unfortunately your years of work experience only begin to count post a formal residency training in Family Medicine so in your case, you still have to undergo that to apply for the practice ready pathway in Canada. You can sit the exams and apply for residency in Canada or you can complete family medicine residency training in your country and use that to apply for PRA in Canada. You can look up my videos on PRA applications and requirements

    Hi madam, I'm moving to Canada on PR. My wife is an Opthalmologist from India. Can she practice Ophthalmology in Canada after clearing MCC exams and assessment anywhere in Canada? I must decide on the province where she can also do her specialist practice. Please reply with your valuable comments the pathways for my wife.

    • @imgchroniclesinternational3301
      @imgchroniclesinternational3301  2 роки тому

      Hi, Opthamology is unfortunately one of those specialties almost impossible for an IMG in Canada. There is no readiness assessment and the only option is through CaRMS. However, there is only 1 slot in the entire country. The slot is rotated by UToronto and U Ottawa. You can go read the.minimim CaRMS requirement for that slot this year. Even doing a fellowship in CA does not give you added advantage. Met a couple of ophthalmologists who had to change specialty or returned to their home countries after retinal fellowship here. So, a very impt step in relocating is reading about your specialty to.see the odds and chances prior to you coming so you can make informed decisions. I hope this info has helped
