I think one of the most important things that Cesar said in this video was in response to the question of if he's ever met a dog that can't be helped. He kind of danced around it in saying that he's dealt with dogs with neurological problems, but if you read between the lines, the basic answer is YES!! For 99.99% of people with dogs, they don't have to worry about this, but there is that 1 in 10,000 dogs that are Jeffrey Dahlmers and these dog trainers that preach this campaign of there are "NO BAD DOGS"... it's BS. It's a LIE. They are very rare, but they DO exist. Then, on the other side, there are incompetent "positive only" dog trainers that every time that they meet a dog that their incompetent methods don't work on, they say that the dog needs to be put down, when a competent balanced dog trainer can fix the dog in 5 minutes. They recommend killing multiple dogs that can easily be helped while they proclaim to be the HUMANE ones Both extremes are bad.

My wife and I adopted our Pitbull terrier from an animal shelter a few months ago. We watched so many of César videos and we’ve learned so much.
I myself have grown, and I am still growing, as a human. I’m learning a lot of self control and to be patient.
    César truly is amazing.
Our dog is so good. And he’s such an amazing dog. I’ve actually been teaching our dog to run with me without a leash.
People do stare and sometimes even get startled but our dog just ignores people and just keeps following me as I’m running.
When I see other dogs, I do leash our dog, and use snacks to distract him, and he’s gotten so good that dogs bark and try and charge our dog , and he just looks at them like,” what the.. what’s wrong with you.”
Thanks César. Love your life lessons and teachings.
    Thanks César.

Cesar's methods are actually applicable to the human mind. There's a book called Psycho Cybernetics written by Maxwell Maltz and it teaches how you can literally train yourself to be almost anything you want or imagine to be. It sounds very idealistic but the methods are ways to train and almost "hypnotize" the mind into exhibiting hidden talents, abilities, and most of all high self esteem. Long story short, Cesar's methods are very similar to Maltz's and they not only have the potential to change dogs' lives for the better, but also human lives, as well. Anyone who doesn't see how Cesar's methods parallel self improvement are not in touch with their potential for positive change.

20:00 - After talking about how the main issue he sees causing most of the problems he helps dogs and their owners with being that people see their dogs as humans, and/or selfishly want them to be or fill a human role in their lives, Cesar says: "I want to live him (his dog, junior) as who he is, (an) animal, (that is) a dog, (which happens to be a the pitbull0 breeds, name(d Junior). That's who he is.' Interviewer, 'and you have to be aware of what his needs are.' 'I want him to be happy being himself...'
Interviewer: 'Ah, Junior, do you hear that? Do you hear that, baby boy?', in 'baby talk' tones, to a grown dog! Wow!!

IMO, it’s because they’re fundamentally selfish. Yeah, I realize that seems like an “ouch” but it’s not meant in a negative way at all. It’s just how we’re built. Ex: We teach children how to share. How come we never talk about human’s “proclivity” to do good? But we cackle endlessly about people’s “proclivity” to do evil, nasty stuff.
These people want a dog to meet their whims and wants and are not vested in meeting the dog’s *needs*. “Wants” are not “needs.” Human wants are infinite; human needs are quite finite. So are a dog’s or any animal.

Some people don't like being called out on seeing and treating their dogs like they are humans. Or Disney characters. Or 'angels'...
After all, the so-called 'animal rights' movement is based on seeing animals as humans. PETA, for instance, wants to eliminate all domestic animals as, 'aberrations of nature'.
No doubt animals can be therapeutic for us all. Yet even the basic sense of caring and empathy and wanting to help others can get twisted up when it comes to animals.
Vet techs we know shared that they, and the vets they worked with, trusted PETA to place litters of puppies and kittens - highly adoptable - that their owners could no longer care for, due to job loss, only to find, when vet office staff members and people they referred to PETA who were interested in adopting, that they had been destroyed, almost immediately. Needless to stay, the vets, vet techs, staff, and many of their clients were livid. PETA has only the ONE shelter. Yup, one.
      Additional info:
      www.petakillsanimals.com/proof-peta-kills/
      www.washingtonpost.com/national/religion/at-petas-shelter-most-animals-are-put-down-peta-calls-them-mercy-killings/2015/03/12/e84e9af2-c8fa-11e4-bea5-b893e7ac3fb3_story.html?noredirect=on&.ce33355c2b1b
      www.foxnews.com/us/peta-shelter-was-a-slaughterhouse-group-claims
Also - the HSUS has ZERO shelters. It is not affiliated with any local humane societies that run shelters. HSUS primarily works to pass anti-animal legislation. (Their latest favorite target is not the big, industrial, 'factory farms' also known as CAFOs (confined animal feeding operations) - but small farms raising animals in more natural conditions, with access to fresh air, sunshine, and pasture as well as appropriate shelter, and fed species-appropriate diets. These farms are usually family run, and do not have the financial resources to defend their basic rights against raids by police and officials looking to find fault, however trivial or WRONG (like Joshua Rockwood in NY who faced 13 counts of 'animal abuse' for completely normal conditions on a real farm - backed by 2 independent veterinarians who inspected the farm and animals and found the facilities adequate and the animals in good health; or a New Engl farm that the vet tech and vet working for the State 'found' 'problems' that were actually BENEFICAL to the animals, as backed up by an independent vet and laboratory tests...).)
Lots of the older pups and adult dogs that end up in shelters are there because people don't know how to deal with them. They are encouraged to bring them to shelters, instead of finding a new home themselves. After all, the shelters are the 'experts'.
And some shelters are very good. Some even hold the king of obedience classes that teach responses to cues - but teach nothing about meeting the dog's needs as a dog, including the need for a calm, stable leader.
For example, most people are unaware that the number of dogs and/or cats euthanized in shelters each year is unknown, and the numbers we here are made up (based on voluntary responses to an unofficial survey, sent to some shelters with no attempt to randomize the pounds and shelters surveyed, or to verify the accuracy of the results - which was done nearly two decades or so ago...). Or that people in poor rural areas of the country, and Puerto Rico, etc breed puppies to become 'rescues' BECAUSE THEIR ARE NOT ENOUGH 'oops' litters to fill the demand in most urban and suburban areas around the large cities.
      Ditto for kittens.
We knew a very conscientious and careful breeder of a special breed of cat who kept getting calls from people who had gone to a well-know shelter in their major city to get a kitten - and found they could buy a purebred kitten for about the same amount as it would cost them to get a kitten from the shelter!
They say 'adopt', but you hand them money and they hand you a cat or dog - that is the definition of a sale.
There are excellent and caring shelters and rescue groups, but there are also those out there taking advantage of the caring public to make money, under the 'halo' of helping.
Many of these same people and groups also actively work against responsible breeders, animal owners that allow their animals to 'be who they are' and actually treat them like animals...

    • @Jefferdaughter
      @Jefferdaughter 5 років тому +2

Also - the 'click and treat' trainers and the so-called 'positive only' trainers hate Cesar. He does not have to beg, plead, and bribe the dogs to do what he wants.
This is one reason he says he is not a dog trainer, but going back a little in time, what he does is most definately training. What those other people are attempting to do is 'opperant conditioning'. The behaviorists, the scientists who study human and/or animal behavior, see the world in terms of mazes and lever pulling to get rewards, or avoiding 'unpleasant stimmulae'. They have no concept about the social structure of dog or wolf packs (after genetic studies were done, domestic dogs were reclassified as a sub-species of wolf: Canis lupus familiarous) - or leadership.

Then when I say people do it subconsciously, and it isn't anyone fault for doing so because it's kind of a human ritual, it only gets frowned upon. As if they're trying to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about

It's not a female thing but I haven't seen a guy behave quite like that, especially fixating on the "aesthetics" the cuteness, rather tan what really matters. Their energy. Something about a deeply week spot looks related. They cannot jump over that and feel the same out of Junior BEING like that, not looking cute. You get me?

I agree, the interviewer disengaged a few times with Caesar, when he was talking. She asked the same line of questioning a couple of times which made me think she was semi-absorbing. Caesar is incredibly patient.

Her agenda and narrative, and prepared questioning was what did mainly that. She wanted to keep it flowing which made it that way. She also needed to "host" the show and keep it interesting. This was just perspective. So if she wasn't hosting the show and Cesar was trying to help her one on one, the dynamic would be entirely different.

Cesar, I've watched SO MANY of your shows with great amazement. I want so badly to be able to train our 4 month old female Blue Heeler to walk with a leash, plus she needs to be able to learn to be obedient as my husband's service dog, since he's a senior with cancer. I've already registered her. I have subscribed to your " I guess" You Tube shows. I am 75, I try so hard to train our heeler, Shadow is her name. Dang I don't know how to train her for anything. She's as fast as a bullet. If you were to see my arms & hands you would think I've been abused, but it's from her nipping ànd teething?
We live in Alabama, so I suppose we'll never get to meet you unfortunately.
    Sincere Blessings with great Respect.

Sorry about spamming but on something he just said. Best potential owners are infact anything but "dog lovers", which are indeed "dog fu**ers". Everyday I tell someone on the Street encountering my rottweiler about how ideal his or her behaviour is to him and how quickly he trusts them, because of the distance they take. We rehabilitate as many people as possible who are afraid of dogs to have a new memory, for free. Best thing ever.

Cesar, would it be possible for you to set up a center like you have in LA? Franchise your knowledge and educate and train officials all over the world to prevent further harm to people and other animals. Just read about a 50 something year old lady who was killed by her French bulldog in Chicago. The officials also put the dog down. It was called Blue. If you had been involved, the lady and her dog would have been better off. Not everyone sees your videos and they're more likely to believe it when they see what you do live. Not sure if you've already tried this and what obstacles you've encountered. This would be a very challenging effort. But maybe it could make things better.

C'mon people, if the dog is not yours, don't touch it. Don't talk to it. Leave it alone. Whether the dog wants you to pet it or not. Get your own dog. Or volunteer at a shelter to take dogs for walks, etc. Or volunteer to visit elderly shut-ins, or hold crack babies at the hospital...

Bossing people around on how you think people should behave in life is how YOU should act. You just take care of yourself. You don't have to be all aggressive and rude.
      Relax!
You sound more like a controlling person with an animal imprisoned than a pet owner.
I personally think people shouldn't OWN animals.
Throwing leashes on animals stuffed in an apartment all day in a high rise by themselves is selfish and cruel.
Animals weren't put on the planet to be controlled by humans.

Why do dogs at dogparks come over to me to hang out? What am I doing to attract them? My dog wants me all to herself, though. She will stop her play and come over to guard/possess me. I will sometimes stand up from sitting on the bench to protect the other dogs from my own dog's possessive traits. I love her company; but, I'd rather she'd play. (Unrelated: You can't feed a dog before they eliminate).
