Not exactly. My theory is Jamie just wanted to die he knew the risk of screaming was death. He saw his father as a real life puppet he just couldn't handle it and decided to end it there.
I still feel like it relied too much on jump scares and SFX. In my opinion, the best horror--the stuff that REALLY gives you nightmares and shivers long after the credits roll--is the slow burn stuff where the real horror lies in what you DON'T see. 1963's The Haunting is the perfect example of how to scare people without showing them one damn thing. I wish more horror films today just did away with jump scares and focused on atmosphere, writing, acting, and tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. The best scenes in this movie were the ones where nothing was happening at all... but you somehow still felt Shaw's presence.

This scene along with Henry’s recollection of Mary Shaw’s performance as a ventriloquist before the audience when he was a boy were two of the most eerie scenes of DEAD SILENCE.
When you think about she lowkey cheats cause she pops up when you least expect it & she also was cheated on the original twist ending when she was suppose to been dead due to all of her dolls burning but nah half of her was still living inside his step mom

When Mary meets Valak.
It will be a hell of demonic fight.
Valak is one of the strongest demons, Mary is probably a demon as well but she's not that powerful
Imagine seeing Mary Shaw, Valak, Bathsheba Sherman, Demon from the Annabelle Doll, Phantom Bride and the Weeping Woman all in the same room
