@@SeaofBriars as do I, crows and magpies also. I wish I could watch this in real time though, beautiful work. Wow this has been a few years ago, hope all is well.
Woah, okay, yup, I need this channel in my life! I just started with a series of mini sculptures and stumbled upon this by pure accident , lovely work!
Sea of Briars, the name sounds so prickly. You do not seem prickly at all. Your Raven is amazing! I have a thing for Ravens and Crows which is why I searched and found your fantastic video. Thank you for sharing your great talent.
The gesture of those wings are really great! I'm a lil curious how you display the pieces once they're finished as I don't see any sort of mounting housing- are you stringing these up then?
The Dream Syndicate Art Dolls Thank you so much! I actually just created this for the sake of the video, and not so much for display purposes. The weight of the wings isn’t ideal for long term display unless some type of support is there. Thank you for your comment and for viewing!
sea of briars: do you also sculpt in color polymer clay? or white and paint them? wish i can make larger sculptors, unfortunately, have to keep them tiny for time being not much space in my super tiny home, but for now, I'll watch and learn till move to a better specious place.
Hi, I sculpt in regular white Sculpey clay and then paint them. Personally I find it more cost effective. Mixing pre-colored clay together also does not offer the same effect as painting if you want to create more natural looking shades and blending. And you’re right, sculptures really do take up a lot of space eventually!😂
Susan Norman Hi, I had the piece of flat wire laid onto the cardboard without taping it down. It’s probably good to tape it first, but the weight of the clay applied directly on top of everything was enough when I worked on this. To attach the wings, I had holes on each side of the raven’s body. I slid the wire tipped wings in and sealed it in with more clay. Thank you very much for watching, I appreciate it. :)
gorgeous art with gorgeous music :) may i ask about the name of the audio? and do you use a reference photo in particular, or just a collage and go with your gut feeling? =^.^=
Miriam Hutchinson Thank you so much! I’m sorry I can’t recall the name of the audio, it was one of the many free audio clip options that was available on the app I used to edit. I usually try to look up as many angles of what I work on as possible. :) Thank you for watching and your questions.
How did u bake the raven with out its feet or wings getting messed up in the process cuz i tried making a large dragon peice and its feet and winhs came out very very messed up and i love watching ur videos they give me so many ideas of different things i could make
Jazz Roloff Hi, for large pieces I would suggest building a very strong skeleton out of wire or any durable material you choose to work with. That way, there’s less of a chance of it falling apart during baking. It helps to have the wings be to very stabilized to the body first (not exactly what I did in the video, so I’ll mention it here). The stronger the core, the more weight distribution it can handle with all the clay over it. Thank you for watching and commenting; I’m very glad to know my videos are somewhat helpful to you. :)
Alana liu Hi! I used jewelry wire for the legs. It’s pretty malleable, so I twisted a few strands together to make it more durable. Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate the comment as well. :)
Titafy Hi, I probably do leave fingerprints all over, but it helps to smooth things over when you set the sculpture down. Applying paint to everything afterward also helps conceal those prints. I’ve also found that working in a slightly colder room (which keeps your clay harder)seems to minimize unwanted marks. Thank you for the question and watching my video.
Great work, I love the detail! Do you prefer using Original Sculpey (or something similar) to create these birds or would you recommend a firmer polymer clay?
Patema Thank you! I normally use the original type of Sculpey, but for more fragile areas or jewelry pieces, I would suggest using something more shatter resistant like Super Sculpey. Thank you for commenting and watching. 😊
