John Shelton, I think you might misunderstand the idea of abrogation. If I said that Jesus abrogated certain things when He came, would you disagree? There is a stark difference between Judaism and Christianity in terms of practices, but Christianity most certainly has it's roots Judaism. The same accusations regarding abrogation have also applied to Christianity for the longest time. The problem with abrogation is that in Islam, it is used to deceive both their believers as well as non-believers. Most people don't even realise the existence of abrogation, which is why Islam can present itself as peaceful, even when the latter half their so-called prophet's ministry was bloody to the core, which is what fundamental Muslims (not radical by the way) do by carrying out jihad. As Christians, what is different is the mode of forgiveness and salvation. We don't sacrifice lambs year after year anymore because the perfect Lamb of God, that is, Jesus Christ, took its place. So we don't do things the way the Jews do. Sounds exactly like abrogation, doesn't it? When we share this gospel, does it sound like we are deceiving people? The Jews have their covenant, and the gentiles (the rest of us) have theirs.The purpose has not changed in that God wants to redeem people.

I do agree with much of what he says but the best "Apologia" was the way the Gentiles saw Christians act and behave (and their willingness to die for their belief). ..They tended to really care for one another and administered love and charity to the all the needy and actually practiced what they preached.. That was the TRIGGER!!.. Nowadays we try to win over non Christian or Atheists through arguments and reasoning..using apologetic talking points but apart from following certain christian rituals for all other purposes living life exactly like other secular non believers. Hey David, Aaron Paterson here from Australia. If you get the time could you consider doing a video on "WERE THERE ANY FEMALE PROPHETS IN ISLAM?" I ask this as Muslim scholars differ on whether women were perfect enough to be prophets. Muslim women said stuff in the Quran but because they were women (not male) they didnt fit the criteria because they were imperfect, not equal to men. Prophet Muhammad describes Maryam as perfect but it seems not perfect enough to be a prophet. Therefore a whole chapter in the Quran is dedicated to Maryam (Mary) a non-prophet. If God have us what we deserve, we would all be in hell, there would be no reconciliation and we’d be condemned, every single one of us to eternal punishment. There are at least two incidences of poisoning after Mohammed invaded Khaibar. It's clear that they were two distinct attempts at poisoning. The Jewess one appears to have succeeded. But the one described in Hadith 551 is more authentic because the Jews called Mohammed by his birth name Al-Qasim (Kathem in other translations). There are many such narrations. Here are some of them. Narrated Abu Huraira: When Khaibar was conquered, a (cooked) sheep containing poison, was given as a present to Allah's Apostle. I think you might misunderstand the idea of abrogation. If I said that Jesus abrogated certain things when He came, would you disagree? There is a stark difference between Judaism and Christianity in terms of practices, but Christianity most certainly has it's roots Judaism. The same accusations regarding abrogation have also applied to Christianity for the longest time. The problem with abrogation is that in Islam, it is used to deceive both their believers as well as non-believers. Most people don't even realise the existence of abrogation, which is why Islam can present itself as peaceful, even when the latter half their so-called prophet's ministry was bloody to the core, which is what fundamental Muslims (not radical by the way) do by carrying out jihad.
As Christians, what is different is the mode of forgiveness and salvation. We don't sacrifice lambs year after year anymore because the perfect Lamb of God, that is, Jesus Christ, took its place. So we don't do things the way the Jews do. Sounds exactly like abrogation, doesn't it? When we share this gospel, does it sound like we are deceiving people? The Jews have their covenant, and the gentiles (the rest of us) have theirs.The purpose has not changed in that God wants to redeem people.

Might be able to poke a little hole in small segment of argument...900 people in Jonestown, 30+ in Heaven's Gate, and 70+ people at the Koresh Compound, all died believing in non-truth. Being poisoned, shot at, and burnt to death is indeed horrible, yet that's what happened to those poor souls. I have strong belief not only in the apostles testimony, but also to the eye witnesses of the average folk who saw the ascension! I ask this as Muslim scholars differ on whether women were perfect enough to be prophets. Muslim women said stuff in the Quran but because they were women (not male) they didnt fit the criteria because they were imperfect, not equal to men. Prophet Muhammad describes Maryam as perfect but it seems not perfect enough to be a prophet.
Therefore a whole chapter in the Quran is dedicated to Maryam (Mary) a non-prophet. How does this compare to women in the Bible?

If God have us what we deserve, we would all be in hell, there would be no reconciliation and we’d be condemned, every single one of us to eternal punishment.

There are at least two incidences of poisoning after Mohammed invaded Khaibar. It's clear that they were two distinct attempts at poisoning. The Jewess one appears to have succeeded. But the one described in Hadith 551 is more authentic because the Jews called Mohammed by his birth name Al-Qasim (Kathem in other translations).
There are many such narrations. Here are some of them.

When Khaibar was conquered, a (cooked) sheep containing poison, was given as a present to Allah's Apostle. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 551)

Carefully note what the Jews said to Muhammad. If Muhammad were a true prophet then the poison would not harm him, which means that if the poison did affect him, then he would not be a true prophet. This point is significant, as we will shortly see.
The next set of traditions affirms that a Jewess successfully poisoned Muhammad which, even by Muhammad's own admission, caused him great pain that eventually resulted in his death:

A Jewess brought a poisoned (cooked) sheep for the Prophet who ate from it. She was brought to the Prophet and he was asked, "Shall we kill her?" One online Islamic site, www.Islamqa.com, candidly admits that Muhammad would even be treated with cupping (a procedure which seeks to extract blood from the body) in order to undo the painful effects of the poison which he consumed:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to feel ill because of this food, and he would be treated with cupping for that.
Ahmad (2784) narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas that a Jewish woman sent a gift to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) of a poisoned roasted sheep. He sent for her and asked her, "What made you do what you did?" She said, "I wanted to see if you were a Prophet, then Allaah would tell you about it, and if you were not a Prophet the people would be rid of you." Whenever the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) felt ill as a result of that he would have himself treated by cupping. On one occasion he traveled and when he entered ihraam he felt ill as a result of that and he had himself treated by cupping. The editor of al-Musnad classed it as saheeh. This is the difference between being saved from the penalty of sin and being saved from the sin itself.

amy smith, I don’t get why someone who studies the scripture would ever deny the reliability and acceptance of the Holy bible. If so, why would someone refer to other books for fundamental truth. Even Quran is pointing everything back to Torah and the Gospel. If you make a wrong choice, it’s you that’s responsible not anyone who tries to help make a better understanding. Right. This is why we believe these words of the same Book:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was WITH God, and the Word WAS God" (emphasis mine)
The Word can be "with" the God, the Father, and be Himself "God," precisely because He is, before all ages, 'begotten' metaphorically, ontologically, eternally, from the Father: making Him God, not a creature: "I came forth from the Father and am come into the world ... Behold, NOW THOU SPEAKEST PLAINLY, AND SPEAKEST NO SIMILITUDE!" (emphasis mine)
This has precedent in the Old Testament: "I [God's eternal Wisdom] came forth from the mouth of the Most High." (i.e. the Word from the Most High, as even the Qur'an says about Jesus, although it didn't understand WHY He had been called this, as you see).

I'm proposing a common sense rationale here. Read carefully:
If you start with the Qur'an, a document 600 years after Jesus Christ walked the earth, and it says 'not the son of God,' then OF COURSE you will not accept what the Bible says. But isn't it more logical to check first whether the Bible, which God revealed first, EVEN ALLOWS for you to CONCIEVE of being a Muslim (which it does not?).

When Christians say the Word or Son of God was 'begotten' it should be noted that we don't think He had sex and then became pregnant with Jesus-nothing could be FARTHER from the truth.
It is a metaphor meaning: of the same nature as God, therefore, He is like a Father, to a Son.
In reality this relationship is where WE get fatherhood and sonship from, not the other way around.
And its an eternal one, not something which 'happened' (there was never God without Father, Son, Holy Ghost).
Imagine a flame: imagine the light as being the 'son' 'produced' from the fire. In reality, there is nevr fire without light, definitionally. Just as there was never God without His eternal Word or 'Son.' (Word and SOn both being metaphors for how the only thing you COULD be in eternity, before creation, is God, and so even His Word was God, and His Spirit).
Muhammad PROVES TO YOU that he fundamentally misunderstood the Trinity, in the Qur'an itself. For it says: "How can Allah have a son, if he has no consort [wife]?"
This proves he didn't even understand why we call Jesus the 'Son' of God. Can we really deny this fact?

Joseph Smith extensively plagiarized the King James Bible in his so called books of Mormon, Jasher, and Abraham; they resemble the Bible closely because of extensive plagiarism (there are many correlations between Mormonism and Islam); the false prophetess of Seventh Day Adventism abused, and misinterpreted the Bible repeatedly, with hundreds of false revelations that directly contradict the Bible, and add plenteous rules and regulations (think rabbinical Judaism and all of the crazy additions to the Law of God, that destroyed the spirit of the Law, by adding burdens they themselves could not even keep, and putting legalism over truth), today they even have a perversion of the Bible that they endorse (the so called clearer word) with many additions for their dogma, and deletions to make certain parts conform to their teaching; the Jehovah's Witnesses similarly added to and mistranslated the Bible, and add many things that contradict the clear teaching of Jesus Himself, and the Bible as a whole. All of these have similarities come from twisting and misinterpreting the source material. The Qur'an borrowed extensively extra Biblical, cultic writing, of heretical Jewish and Christian groups, hence many similarities, but many errors.
