Wow... Sweet trailblazer! I am in process of replacing the 4 wheel transfer and front Diff on mine. Was going to go with the same OEM parts... but sounds like you would recomend not going oem and use others?
The truck went from never having the right gear to always being in the right gear. The 32 inch tires and 3.42 gears with the stock 4 speed was terrible. 32 inch tires and 4.10s is pretty good with the stock 4 speed. Totally liveable. I forgot to answer your vendor question in your other comment. I actually got the 4.56 gears used in a part out. If I was buying new, with the 6 speed, 4.10 would be the ideal sweet spot. But i got used 4.56s cheaper then new 4.10s cost, so it is what it is.
Really digging your build. What kind of radiator did you swap to and where can I find. Having a heating issue and I'm pretty sure it's my radiator. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Interested in upgrading the rear end. What vendor did you buy your rears gears from ? Pcm reprogramming needed? Do you do it yourself or what, I've heard mixed things about PCM of NC but don't see any other viable options
On a 02-05 you unfortunately can't change anything in the pcm for the regear. On 06+, you can change gear ratio and tire size in the pcm. Pcm of NC is reputable. But I own my own hptuners so I can make changes myself. Limeswap is another good tuning company that supports our engine and computers. Check them out.
A very significant amount. It's not cheap. A 2008 TB with the V8 option is almost plug and play, but my early 6 cylinder model is a process. You need a bell housing adapter, a stater adapter, a new starter, a transfercase adapter, new driveshafts, and my application needed a PCS controller to run the transmission. Plus the transmission itself, new torque converter, and a cooling system for the trans. It took me 6 months. True Blue Motorsport sells components to perform the swap. I worked closely with him.
Cool Trailblazer!

Dude that’s awesome you did a 6L80 swap! How is it working out now?
Hey nice build. I’ve been looking to get some of those brackets you have for your Aux beam spot lights. Do you have a link for the mounting brackets.
I'm so curious on how much better that 6 speed feels.

A group buy like 5 years ago.
Where did you get your swing away tire carrier? I have 2002 TB I'm currently going Overland with.
MDB Fabrication.
Awesome. I will check them out.
Thank you.
I would remove that piece of cardboard or not cover it all the way.
Lol. The trans barely gets 140 degrees with the cardboard there in the winter.
How much did it cost for the 6l80 swap?
