    Hello Darren, it’s great to see you back on the hills moving well and enjoying it. Just to let you know that there’s a cold water tap on the outside wall of the toilet/shower block at the Lordstones Country Park site, just behind where you were on the video. The good people at Lordstones keep it on for thirsty dogs and runners. I was on a ten-mile-out and ten-mile-back run on Saturday on much the same route as you and this tap was a godsend: I was able to refill both 500ml flasks which I’d emptied much sooner than I was expecting. It was a warm day! Looking forward to your next update. Keep on running.

      Hey Duncan thanks for the advice that's very useful. On reflection Loadstones is only 10K into the thing but filling up one soft flask could make the difference as next point I can fill up is mile 19 I think. I'll just need to work out exactly where the tap is. Cheers

    Great to see you back with another vid. Gorgeous part of the world to run in, I ran the Lyke Wake Walk last winter and got treated to stunning inversions all day!

      It’s incredible at the top of Carlton moor when the clouds invert isn’t it, only had it once!

    Stunning views up there. You're totally right in changing things up if it's not making you happy. Running should be fun, some people find the structure of being coached fun, others don't. Do what's right for you.

      Very stunning mate. On the coaching I really did love the structure for the first few years, but just got too serious...maybe would have been different had I had a less demanding job and better stomach lol. I might go back to it at some point but only if it feels right.

    Sounds like you are back on track Darren great to see you have decided to change things about good decision. Every runner goes through exactly the same issues lots just simply pack in others eventually work it out, good luck for the future, onwards and upwards as the saying goes.

    Might be worth trying out Active Root. UK company, they make gel powders that you can mix up to your preferred consistency and you use them with a reusable little squeegee bottle which cuts down on the amount of empty packaging you generate, so they're great on that front as well. All the gels have ginger in them which seems to have some research behind it as something that helps settle the stomach. I also get on really well with the luchos dillitos guava blocks.

    Good to see you back and enjoying your running, really enjoy your content, great work. Ran this Hardmoors route this year as my first ever trail race using your nutrition advice (adding Lucho Dillitos rather than relying solely on Jelly babies :D), didn't make me any quicker up them hills but it made it much easier to get round, cheers!

    Great to see you back out and about enjoying yourself.
    Also good to see some running in the local area. I might have to steal a route or two from you, if that’s alright? I tend to go where I already know…so anything new/different would be awesome

      Thanks Mark, the Ultra is happening I've decided its just a question of when because talking to someone about making a more professional film for it. Which Ultra you looking at?

      @@DarrenSmithTrailRunning nice one. I'm doing the Spire Ultra in Chesterfield. 34 miles. My longest ever run is about 16 miles at this point 😬😂👍🏻

    • @DarrenSmithTrailRunning
      @DarrenSmithTrailRunning  2 роки тому +1

      That’ll be great, just go uncomfortably slow for the first ten or so miles, chances are it’ll still be too fast…most people go way too fast at the start and it makes for a horrible experience by the end
