I’m genuinely happy man. Shadow has always been the coolest Sonic character but I never really thought they treated him with the respect he deserves. In the 2010s he was always the edgy rival to Sonic and nothing more but now in this year alone we gotten more Shadow than we ever did last decade. Collabs, animations, a game and a whole movie. Shadow popped off this year and as someone who loves Shadow I’m just so happy he got what he deserved. I can’t wait for SXSG

One curious thing I noticed is that Sega seems to be commiting to "Speed = Electricity", because Shadow also has electricity around him when going fast in the Dark Beginnings animation.

But it used to look more like simple light particles and aura (like the Adventure lightspeed attack or any spin move and boost from most games), now they seem to lean more towards the electric stylisation with both Frontiers and Shadow Generations.

I really want some silver push by sega, but blaze would be cool too, they both come from environments that can definitely be explored being the future and another dimension. They both also have cool powers and have backstories which could be given to them. A big thing about shadow is his past its everything that surrounds around him and everybody loves the guy. Imagine that given to silver and blaze
Metal Sonic and Silver will probably come in the same movie. With the former having a present and future version.

I’m sorry, but I hard disagree on the LEGO skit being too long. I thought it was great. Every time they cut back to Izuka sitting there on his phone with a deadpan expression on his face, I was fucking rolling.
What I personally thought too much was the montage of all the LEGO sets, one by one. That was too much. Most of those sets have been out for ages. It was unnecessary.
But the skit was great. That was the point where the whole stream finally started to get good. Definitely didn’t feel too long to me.

It really feels like with generations we’re starting fresh just like in 2011 except it’s frontiers instead of colors that came before it. It’s ironic the way gens was originally about rehashing old stuff but now it’s what’s being rehashed. Except this time they’re doing it different. I really feel that the fearless year of shadow represents sega not being afraid to face the darkness of the past and that this game is going to be a celebration of this new way of moving forward out of the meta era.

Sonic x shadow generations is gonna be insane!!! Just the fact that Maria will be back because of time travel will have shadow feel deep emotion but also tear dropping that he has to say goodbye in order to save the timeline but I’m glad he’ll get closure!

The year of Shadow has definitely been a year to remember with both the new Sonic movie 3 in theaters in December and Sonic X Shadow generations coming out in October and I hope that other characters in the Sonic universe like my favorites Silver and Blaze will get more recognition in the future 👍🤍🦔💜🐱

I know we saw it on Lego Dimensions, but I kind of want a Lego Sonic game. Idk, maybe make it have SA1 and 2 on the game. Or do a new story in a Lego game with Sonic. I’d play it.

We're almost at the end! This has been a huge journey so far. Pre ordered Sonic X Shadow Gens on Steam! Gonna see the third movie in december, I'm all in! This will be a huge successful year of the Sonic Franchise. Plus we still need another Sonic anime. Shadow Gens Dark Beginnings proves that Sonic needs another anime. We need. I always Sonic would be great with Ufoatable personally but Studio Giggex is still a worthy studio alongside Power House! I would love to see a Sonic anime by Ufoatable personally, imagine throwing hands, the action, the super sonic dragon ball inspired fights, that would be cool to see. We still eating good boys!
You think they're gonna remaster and resell the rush games (Rush, Rush Adventure, and Colors Ds) next year and then at the end of the year announce that 2026 will be the year of Silver, with a remake of Sonic '06 using the modern hedgehog engine.

I gotta say, I love the content I've been seeing from Shadow Generations. However seeing Shadow getting dragged down at the bringing of the trailer, I hope in the future they add and start utilizing the center position for mouths. Maybe one day it can be as fluid as Disney's Sonic during both Wreck-It-Ralph movies.
Edit: I forgot that movie Sonic characters only has the center mouth and with movie Shadow being in the game I gotta say it looks good. We have many center mouth models and I got say Secret Rings is my all time favorites.

Call me 2024 the way is THE YEAR OF SHADOW! Perhaps it had a slow start but I'm glad they're going full ON the marketing machine, it truly feels like his year baby! I'm really excited and lookin' forward to most things but yeah about the Lego thing, They should definitely do a full Lego Sonic Game at this point, it's going to be silly fun! and Heck they could even continue the "cliffhanger" ending of that Sonic plot that started there, I see a lot of good potential in a Lego Sonic spin off game!

What a W man. Lost for words. Shadow is one of my favorite characters across media. When they announced the year of shadow, I was happy, yet conflicted because of how he’s been done as well as how long it took for us to yk, gets stuff. Couldn’t have been more mistaken, movie trailer, Gens, Dark Beginnings, etc. Don’t mean to ramble but just happy

it's crazy how one small post-credits scene in Sonic 2 just completely expanded into this year-long focus on Shadow and it's been *working so well*
like naturally Shadow has appeal for being a cool character but this continued effort into showcasing him and giving him the spotlight is incredible, and I hope they keep the ball rolling for as long as they can after it ends

I actually have no nitpicks about anything that's come out. Everything I have to say since Year of Shadow started that's not the 9 year old in my brain screaming about good, faithful tidal wave of Sonic stuff coming out is just the 3 critiques for the series as a whole I have left, only one of which I'd fully consider major: Physics gameplay (it's this one), certain stylistic choices like how light is rendered and faces/mouths are animated, and certain VA's I think aren't the best fit. The physics gameplay is a hill I will die on, over and over forever. Core Sonic identity stuff, it matters. The stylistic stuff is stuff you've heard before, reference Uekawa and Ohshima's art more in the visual department, bring in the more stylish surreal elements to the environments, facial animation and exaggeration, less stuff that NEEDS to be there, and just stuff I'd like to see, that would make the series EVEN BETTER. Still don't think Roger is the ideal english voice for Sonic, and Rouge needs a new voice more than anyone. Roger's performances are good, since Frontiers especially, he's just too deep. Karen Strassman...well you played Sonic Dream Team, I don't like to be overly harsh on the creative themselves, I'd rather critique the work, but MAN I can't see her working out.
That's it. Bring back the physics platforming to the 3D games (at least some of them), and I'll have so little negative to talk about I'll have to focus on like, individual moments in specific games, rather than broader issues I have with the series. "This line could've been delivered better" or "This level's gimmick overstays its welcome a little bit". They're almost THERE. I've been saying it since Frontiers, especially update 3, that they're not there yet, not quite the Sonic they were before 2006 (or the 2010s depending on how you're counting), but they're getting there, and they're so close. They're SO CLOSE man. The tie ins and spinoff stuff would've annoyed me before because "why should I care about this, where's the good shit?". Well HERE IT IS! THE FABLED GOOD SONIC SHIT! They've done it. Sonic is back on track. I can actually see it getting to a point where an official, non-olympic tie in with Mario would feel earned. I actually think we might be on track to rivaling Mario in quality again. If you told me we'd get here before Frontiers came out, I actually wouldn't believe you. Even after Frontiers, I never saw us getting here so FAST. Imagine what's in store for the next mainline game man.

My bet is that the DC x Sonic stuff for 2026 will lead to an animated movie because it's something that Dc has already done before.
Batman x TMNT got a comic series and later a movie, and even a smaller brand like RWBY got two animated movies crossing voer with the Justice League after 2 comic book miniseries.
If freaking RWBY can get two crossover movies there's absolutely NO WAY DC would waste the chance with a much bigger brand like Sonic.
