If you could save maria in shadow generations, then I'd expect it to be close to the end of the game tbh, it just seems like shadow getting to atleast talk to maria would be near the ending since shes been dead for a while

I'm not sure if Shadow (2005) and '06 are considered mainline, and who defines what the term encapsulates.

By the way, Big the Cat was actually originally gonna be in Sonic Generations as his voice actor, Kyle Hebert, has confirmed that he did record lines for him in this game but got removed from the final game for unknown reasons.
Couldn't you put Amy in Rooftop Run since she's in Spagonia with Professor Pickle for most of Unleashed, and then keep the cameo connection for Cream in Speed Highway? Especially since Chao debuted in Sonic Adventure 1 so Cheese fits there too

Ok here's my idea Green Hill: Sonic rescues some small animals like he did back than talking about how its been a long time since hes done that. Chemical Plant: Sonic rescues Tails And possibly he could have also rescued Amy during the Metal Sonic race as a callback to Sonic CD
I feel like as far as Amy's spot, they could have had her be rescued when you beat the Metal Sonic boss, considering it takes place in Stardust Speedway and all. As for Sonic 1 reps, I could have seen the little animal characters being rescued as a batch. They are what Sonic used to rescue all the time back in the day. That would have left room for Tails to be in Chemical Plant instead of Amy.
Personally I think the bigger issue was not providing cool stages to match the characters better. Imagine an actual Knuckle's Chaotix stage where Sonic and Tails have to use that stupid ring to beat both the 3D and 2D stages and by doing that, they unlock the entire Chaotix team instead of just Espio? Or Amy got a Sonic CD themed stage, where you could actually flip the signs and travel into the past or into the future in the 2D stage, and in the 3D stage you were forced to go into the future and into the past to beat it? Would've been awesome. How about Cream representing Sonic Heroes, and in there you join forces with Tails and Knuckles to form Team Sonic and rescue Cream? Just thoughts, but I don't know I think this would've been neat. It probably would've been difficult to learn these new gameplay styles on the fly though, so maybe it's a bad idea.
Blaze never died in New Sonic: she used chaos control to teleport back to her home dimension: she told silver to do it but he refused as he didn’t want to lose his only friend so she did it herself. It was rendered pointless in the end as Mephiles changed the past by freeing Iblis in a place he wanted to remerge with him: by him killing Sonic just to make Elise cry & thus break the seal. This caused Iblis to be forcefully removed from Blaze & sync with his past self. We never hear him say it but he was less than happy at his more violent (in some ways) twin from ruining the peace he finally found, until Super Sonic, Shadow & Silver did to Solaris Himself what the former had previously done to Chaos.

I'm glad you brought up creams appearances in Sonic adventure DX. Sadly I never completed Sonic generations for whenever I played it I didn't play that much of it because I ended up being interrupted by other things I had to do and I just kind of forgot to finish the game. So I didn't really know where any of the other characters were. Just tails Amy and knuckles. As soon as you mentioned that cream was at speed highway I automatically thought about her appearances in Sonic adventure DX
Tails is the main partner character, so it makes sense he’s saved first. Amy and Vector’s placements just kinda there because they had nowhere else to put them. Cream & Cheese appeared in SA1 DX as a cameo, flying around the hub. Charmy was in Planet Wisp in Sonic Colors DS. They don’t make sense at first glance, but if you are a Sonic nerd and also know that not all characters could fit their slots, it makes sense.
OK, hear me out here, I think the person you free in Green Hill… should have been CLASSIC SONIC. Think about it, after you beat act 1, Classic Sonic is captured by the time eater, so why not have him be the frozen statue who is that free once modern sonic restores Green Hill to its former glory? From there, I would move Tails to Chemical Plant & Amy would be freed once you defeat Metal Sonic to tie her in with Sonic CD. As for the others, although they’re not all perfect, particularly Vector, I think they are serviceable as is. Heck, if the story is good enough, they could lean into how bizarre it is for someone like vector to be sent to rooftop run and have that be assigned that time is being displaced even further as some people are being sent to places they’ve never even been.
I don't see why this is such a problem. Sonic Generations is one of my most favourite video games ever made and is by far the best 2011 game with little contest.
This reminds me, Big doesn't show up anywhere in the game, only as a statue in the secret room and nowhere else, did he get lost going to the party? Are they implying that he ended up on Shadow's side of white space(that would kinda be funny and believable actually)
I do like most of the final placements. I’d just switch cream and Amy. Cream has cheese because of the chao and Amy was actually in unleashed. Unlike cream (so less of a stretch then ice cream)
While I see where you're coming from, I do think the character placements make enough sense. What I don't get though is why is Vector in Rooftop Run and Espio is in Seaside Hill. Shouldn't the face of the Chaotix be the one to represent the game they returned in?
That would make sense. But I do feel like Espio representing the game where the chaotix agency is founded makes sense because in the Japanese manual for knuckles chaotix it states that he is a detective. Meaning he’s been doing it the longest. And is possibly the reason the chaotix were re-imagined into the detective agency in the first place.
That's interesting to note! But I do feel Espio fits Rooftop Run better. Having the ninja being the one to represent running on top of buildings feels kind of right, you know? But I do get your point, and it is an interesting detail.
Another reason why Vector could be in the Green Hill stage is because he technically a Classic Sonic character too since he appears in Knuckles Choatix a classic era Sonic game.

I like to look at it this way: Vector is the power type and so is the Werehog. Spagonia is reminiscent to Italy and I saw Vector as a mob boss in a way. As for Amy, Chemical Plant and Stardust Speedway look similar since you fight Metal Sonic there.

shadow and silver weren't at the party, meaning sonic is just fighting past version of them, and 06 is canon, it deleted itself but it's canon (it's even teased that sonic remembers)

Heroes' Chaotix are basically new characters barely based on their 32X's counterparts, so we can say Espio debuted in Heroes.

As soon as you mentioned that cream was at speed highway I automatically thought about her appearances in Sonic adventure DX
Tails is the main partner character, so it makes sense he’s saved first.
Amy and Vector’s placements just kinda there because they had nowhere else to put them.
Cream & Cheese appeared in SA1 DX as a cameo, flying around the hub.
Charmy was in Planet Wisp in Sonic Colors DS.
They don’t make sense at first glance, but if you are a Sonic nerd and also know that not all characters could fit their slots, it makes sense.
There is a legit reason why Cream & Cheese are the SA1 Representative, cuz She Cameo in it's Update.

OK, hear me out here, I think the person you free in Green Hill… should have been CLASSIC SONIC.
Think about it, after you beat act 1, Classic Sonic is captured by the time eater, so why not have him be the frozen statue who is that free once modern sonic restores Green Hill to its former glory?
From there, I would move Tails to Chemical Plant & Amy would be freed once you defeat Metal Sonic to tie her in with Sonic CD.
As for the others, although they’re not all perfect, particularly Vector, I think they are serviceable as is.
Heck, if the story is good enough, they could lean into how bizarre it is for someone like vector to be sent to rooftop run and have that be assigned that time is being displaced even further as some people are being sent to places they’ve never even been.

I don't see why this is such a problem. Sonic Generations is one of my most favourite video games ever made and is by far the best 2011 game with little contest.
This reminds me, Big doesn't show up anywhere in the game, only as a statue in the secret room and nowhere else, did he get lost going to the party? Are they implying that he ended up on Shadow's side of white space(that would kinda be funny and believable actually)

While I see where you're coming from, I do think the character placements make enough sense.
What I don't get though is why is Vector in Rooftop Run and Espio is in Seaside Hill. Shouldn't the face of the Chaotix be the one to represent the game they returned in?
That would make sense.
But I do feel like Espio representing the game where the chaotix agency is founded makes sense because in the Japanese manual for knuckles chaotix it states that he is a detective. Meaning he’s been doing it the longest. And is possibly the reason the chaotix were re-imagined into the detective agency in the first place.
That's interesting to note! But I do feel Espio fits Rooftop Run better. Having the ninja being the one to represent running on top of buildings feels kind of right, you know? But I do get your point, and it is an interesting detail.

Another reason why Vector could be in the Green Hill stage is because he technically a Classic Sonic character too since he appears in Knuckles Choatix a classic era Sonic game.

I like to look at it this way: Vector is the power type and so is the Werehog. Spagonia is reminiscent to Italy and I saw Vector as a mob boss in a way. As for Amy, Chemical Plant and Stardust Speedway look similar since you fight Metal Sonic there.

Honestly, my question is where is shadow and silver. Isn't sonic, shadow, and silver like, friends? Unless if the time eater took sonic to the past when they were fighting, which, again doesn't make that much sense considering 06 isn't cannon
we know what happened with shadow, but for silver i have no clue
shadow and silver weren't at the party, meaning sonic is just fighting past version of them, and 06 is canon, it deleted itself but it's canon (it's even teased that sonic remembers)
Sonic and shadow definitely aren't friends. And silver is stuck in the future
