Drum Playthrough - 'Malfunction' by ON THE VIRG / Virgil Donati Performed by Bryan Macaranas

When I first got hold of the On the Virg, Serious Young Insects album (1999), this track was an immediate stand out. Virgil Donati was brutal and super groovy on this track. Its the most challenging Playthrough for me yet. Tonnes of time shifting, syncopated signature fills, crossing bars and playing with the meter - mind bending stuff. Yet there's an underlying groove in 5 that is just infectious. For the first time in playing around with multi angles, using different takes.
Note the original start - finish take is the overhead angle. And as always - mistake and all. I hope you enjoy, and til the next one.....
