      There really aren’t ‘secret’ spots in western Washington. Unless he is going onto some private land it is easy to find any of those fishing holes. If you fish any of those coastal river in September and October you have a good chance of catching some salmon. I can even hear the roadway nearby.

    And the proper way and best way to twitch is all in the wrist. You shouldn't have to lift your arms to twitch jigs not when it comes to salmon fishing. People waste a lot of energy and strain themselves by lifting more than you should when it comes to twitching. It takes a lot of practice to get it down it took me three years to learn how to properly and most efficiently twitch jigs, believe me lol. But less rise and more wrist..

      Armond Felix《That's a great tip, I really appreciated it!! I am sustaining an injury on my right forearm, I was lifting my whole arm to lessen the damage. I should have let it heals first but it seems irresistible. Anyway, good luck with fishing!!

    It would have been a lot easier for you to twitch with a better real. Spinning reels are ideal for twitching jigs. To each their own and I'm not talking down on your style. But I know from personal experience as far as twitching jigs go because that's my preferred style of fishing and I make twitching jigs. Spinning reels tend to work a lot better when it comes to being on point and twitching It saves a lot of time in the end.

    Your reel is in dire need of a clean and lube. 🤨

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I took it out for a couple saltwater trips and it corroded and seized up. I have done deep cleaning and lubing just right before this trip but I couldn't get it to spin any better 😁. A number of things could go wrong now, could be one or all bearings, and/or spool, and/or gearbox, and/or pinion gear.

      @@WestCoastOutdoors I service bait caster reels. That reel has serious salt water corrosion in the bearings . I ask guys who use reels not designed to be used in salt water this. You would wouldn’t take you Lexus to the sand dunes right? Or take your corvette to mud bug races would you? Then why use a low profile expensive real to the salt water? 🤦🏼

    • @WestCoastOutdoors

      @@rdgurule I thought a good rinse is good enough but sadly not. Shimano claimed on their website that this reel is for both fresh and saltwater. Even my tranx 301AHG got corroded as well. I will change it up, will dunk it into a freshwater bucket instead.

      Every reel needs to be taken apart after salt use. Or buy new reels every year.

    Fish was snagged you should have released the first one hook was in gill plate not mouth

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors  2 роки тому +4

      It was hooked on the corner of the mouth. FYI BTW, hook set anywhere from rear gill plate and forward is legit.
      WA reg book, on page 19 of the rules pamphlet, under the “tackle” section, “it is unlawful to possess a fish taken from freshwater that was not hooked inside the mouth or on the head. The head is defined as any portion forward of the rear margin of the gill plate.”
      Thank you for watching.
