Van Tour of a Couple Living Cheap in a Cargo Van

- Опубліковано 28 гру 2024
- In today's video, I take a tour of my friends Ann and Guy's very nice Ford van that they have turned into their own amazing tiny house on wheels. Why do such young people want to chuck it all and live in a van? Even more puzzling, how can they afford it and isn't it really hard for a couple to live in a van? In this interview, we'll find answers to those questions and more by taking a Tour of their van!

Thanks for watching!
Another cool thing about the Instant Pot, is that the pot comes out making it very easy to clean.
One pot cooking is the best for cooking and clean up!
Bob, you have created such an amazing legacy by inspiring so many people to take the leap into a nomadic life! Thanks for your service to humanity in your videos, the RTR, WRTR, and Van Build events, the Caravans, and the new Homes on Wheels Alliance. We hope we will meet you someday to thank you in person.
What I like about Bob's videos and his channel is that it's drama free and he features topics that are actually useful such as other van tours, product reviews and ideas on locations to boondock..btw..Thule is pronounced "Toola" ...the "H" is silent..call them and you will see!!! haha
Habitat ReStores are gold mines! Nice build. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, we can do this! After 30 years in the same spot, I'm selling and moving into a Promaster with my disabled daughter! She's 23 and it's time for fun and adventure surrounded by Ma Nature. Thank you Bob, it's because of your channel this is my immediate future
Smart and well-planned. No wonder they get along so well. I think they thought of everything. I love it when a plan comes together and seeing 2 people work like a well-oiled machine is refreshing!
Thank you!!❤
I love that they have a hanging wardrobe. That's awesome.
⭐️The creativity these people have in these videos amazes me!! I can't wait til my husband and I are able to hit the road!😀
Thank you Guy and Ann and Bob.
More and more I am thinking it is better to customize myself. This couple is an excellent example of what can be done with ingenuity about what works. Thank you for sharing.
Plus you save tons of money.
This guy is a brilliant carpenter/electrician/solar man, etc. nice couple!
I loved it when they said.."We like each other, alot"! What a great van..and, yes you would have to like each other alot to live in a van with 2 people and large dog.. another great video Bob.
I know I have said it 173 times before, but this is my favorite van!
Piece and serenity comes in many forms, up lifting to see people that have found what works for them. VERY NICE
I am in love with that embroidered tapestry on the ceiling. Beautiful!
They really elevated van life !
I luv that 'hidden' cupboard system that Ann insisted upon... will implement it in my own van next year! Tks for sharing.
Hi I was born in Frisbie Memorial. Spent a lot of young life visiting Grammie and aunts in East Rochester. AM now since 1959 living in Nashua. Enjoy your trips.
Thanks! ❤❤
I guess they'd have to follow the cool temperatures because it could get pretty hot in a van with only a fan for ventilation. Love him and they make a cute couple. Great idea to use colorful pattern on ceiling.
One of my favorite of your videos. What wonderful people.
Thank you❤
GOD'S COUNTRY
I appreciate your educational blogs. I’m Santi, age 63 and a disabled veteran. Four months ago, I bought a 2000 Roadtrek from Cowboys RV Mart, Lake Havasu, AZ for $20k. I trusted Sherman, the owner, and the BBB A+ endorsement. I purchased the ‘Trek sight-on-seen as I lived in NV and just had surgery. What was delivered to me was a Dodge Van with a bad engine, bad ecm, non working low beams, bad auxiliary batteries, the battery box metal etched through by battery acid was so extensive the possibility of a battery dropping to the street made immediate repair a necessity. The passenger side axle had worn so thin the new bearing could not be seated. That axle is no longer manufactured. Beware of Cowboys RV Mart, Lake Havasu, AZ.
They have a great attitude! Lovely people!!
Love the 3qt Instant Pot - made in Canada. Makes the most tender poached chicken thanks to Amy&Jacky recipe. Great idea for the bed fold-out.
What a great attitude!!!
This is the best van I have seen yet !!
It looks very comfortable and well made.
This one is especially good for a low cost build. Thanks!
It's nice to see a couple in a van. Now I know that it's doable. Thanks for the info.
OMG!!!! This is my dream life! I bought an RV...it's 32'...WAY TO MUCH!!!! So I'm selling and THIS is the plan!!! Whoo
Seriously brilliant "trash can. " I'm stealing this idea! Thank you!
Love that ‘Don’t hit me!’ Rear bumper... Oops, its a traction mat.
I can do that....I'm slower than I thought I would be, but I'm trying not to be so picky so I can hurry up. But...I don't want to have to do somethings over. I've found out during my senior life, to just accept my beginning way and drive away to somewhere. Thanks Bob for another great video. From Central Oklahoma.
Hi this is a Sailor and his dog, the encouragement is good, I believe many people do think about it but don't know how to prepare!
Everybody says first buy a van....then they stop the conversation. It takes homework and study to make the decision to go nomadic, I have been doing it for a year and truly enjoy the life. I agree that many states dislike people living in their vans and they believe we are homeless, wait until they get too retirement age and become empty nester's they will be looking for freedom. Happy camping. This Sailor is out...
THANK YOU! Finally someone not just throwing eis directly into the chest. I really never understood why people would do that instead of using containers and then use the meltwater for dishes or washing (or even drinking if the container is clean...)
When using my Coleman Electric Cooler I've put ice inside a container. That way leakage doesn't get in the electric fan! But hadn't thought of doing it in a regular cooler.
Exactly, and getting a bunch of water in the food. To each their own, but I never understood putting the ice straight in with the food and whatnot.
I love the garment bag idea as 💡 a hanging trash can
Beautiful van! I love what he did in there.
Wonderful home and couple! 👏🏼
That was a good one. Great setup!
Anybody else find after awhile you were watching more to hear him talk than for the van? Love the accent!
Thank you!!! ❤
very nice van they made there money go a long way i truly like people who learn to live out side the box thank you Bob,Ann and Guy for a great video.
Loving the positivity! I long to wake up in the desert, take a walk while drinking morning coffee, check out the tracks from the night before! It would be more awesome to have a partner to share with? Or would it?😂😂
😆
Thanks Bob and yes I did I drink protein all the time never thought of putting ice in them. That was great, I don’t throw them away anyway I use them to store food in. Now I have something else to use them for as well. Great van for 2
Brilliant fit out! Simple, cheap and well thought out. Guy and Anne, you make me see that I CAN DO THAT too 👍🏾🙌🏾✨
Very nice. I could live in that.
I can do that!! and I will,,,cant wait! Thanks!
Bob: thanks for sharing Ann and Guy. I also have a Ford and many of the same things they have. its just fun to see other peoples houses(on rubber) thanks Bob for all you do.
Ann and Guy it’s not what you said it’s that Yankee Doodle speech that kept me riveted. I enjoyed a lot of what you spoke about too. 👍
I’m constantly amazed at people’s innovations in all walks in life. I’m finding the Nomads that I’m seeing in your videos are the kind of people I want to be connected with.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE their van!!! The ceiling is beautiful ,the setup is awesome. Just ingenious how the made it. WOW 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Beautiful. Looks like home. Enjoy and kiss the world 😘
Great information from this couple. It is nice to see a couple living exactly as me, my wife, and our Border Collie will be living starting in Sept 2019!
Have fun!
Good video..I really like Ann and Guy and their van is wonderful! A lot of thought and imagination went into it.
Accent was a dead giveaway for New England :-) Love the build.
Excellent tour.
Nice homey interior of the van. Cool Vid.
I can do that! And I am going to! Departure is slated for November 2019. Maybe I'll be at the RTR...
So nice to hear from east coast folks and how they've made out. Thanks for the video and happy travels to Ann and Guy!
Fantastic van build. I like how you spent money on quality equipment where you had to and then improvised with creative solutions on the rest. I wish you all the best in your travels!
Lots of great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Nice van, nice couple. Love the fan cover. Clever use of furniture.
Your bed extension is pretty clever. In my vintage trailer, I kinda did something similar. I need to be wider, and so a small center connection gets the job done. With Rv's etc. etc., it's like Grandpa always said, "You can't program innovation; it's just inside of you".
Nice, simple set up! Thanks for sharing, Bob! And thanks for the tour, Guy & Ann!
Another great video, Bob
I looooooooooooooooove the material that they used 4 the headliner in the van...very cool...actually the overall look inside the van is very nice, all the patterns & hues compliment each other quite well, tastefully done...
Fantastic van build and video. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Bob - I can do that! Building out my van now! Thanks for all the videos. Really like this couples setup
Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your home with us. 🦋🙏🏿
beautiful intelltgent design!
Great setup and really nice people. And I love the accent :)
It just screams east coast doesn't it? lol
so soon, I'm on the road, in the contiguous 48 by end of next July (2019) it's all coming together! YAY! Hope to meet you all on the Road and at RTR, Van Build and all other exciting gatherings. And sites of the US along the way. And I've found another friend here on USVI-STX that's got the same plan about the same time! We're on! Thank you Bob, you've been an inspiration. I write notes all the time about the products that each interviewee uses... got some good tips from Ann and Guy here too. Thanks!
A Sportsmobile pop top giving nearly 8' of headroom would be lovely on this beautiful van!
(I can do that!) When he expressed how "at home" they are in the van, I could totally relate. My patina '67 VW is sanctuary and perfect....every time my dog and I are within its iconic time capsule-ness, we're genuinely content and happiest!
I loved hearing you say that you buy ice and put it in containers inside your cooler. Block ice is NOT a necessity. Also, I love seeing your trashcan.
Creative and gentle man. Go well.
Some great ideas that keep it simple. Nice configuration!
“Live Free or Die” is their state motto, and they’re doing it!
I really enjoyed the tour and it gave me a lot of ideas...I think I’m going with the older style cargo van for my build.
It was great interview and tour! Bob captioned at 13:46 that Ann and Gary's social media links would be in the video description but it's not there; I've searched for their youtube without any luck. Has anyone else found them? It sounds like this was made at the January 2018 RTR and now it's November 2018, I'm curious to see how Ann and Gary are doing after being on road all this time and if they are going to RTR again in 2019. There are so many fantastic ideas and useful information in this video; buying a used U-Haul van sounds like a smart idea if a person is going to purchase a van. I've had many different vehicles over the years, my favorite everyday driver was my Ford E150.
HandCrafter Maggie Hello below is the link to our channel, please come over and take a look around. As of right now (11/22) the plan is to hit the RTR again. We made a lot of new friends there and we are excited to see them again. Please look for us and stop by and say hello.

The regional Boston accent is so charming 'member since Planet Fitness stahted, black cahd member, shower cuhtain, my hahdwayh stoh'. Lovely to listen to.
I liked the drop leaf brackets. I did not know you could buy those hinges, this is so easy. Really liked those two exterior facing tables you built, nice touch.
This is a talented man to bring this build together in such a small space. Incredible that this van could fit two adults for full time living. It takes creativity to design this space. Well done, Guy and Ann! Thanks for a great tour, Bob!
What a great setup! I love the furniture that turned into instant cabinets. The pantry/medicine cabinet is great too. Folding toilet, (that power thing is EXPENSIVE but I guess that charges by solar), and everything else is just perfect. Very impressed. Nice job and great vision for the end product.
Wish I had someone to do it with but I will do it alone ❤️💙💜can't wait planning in the works 🏊🏻♀️🚣🏻♀️🛴🚲🏜🌋🏕
Pretty decent set up..im a bit more minimalist than that but wouldn't mind using some of those clever ideas..
Very nice....
Hello Guy & Ann 👋😃. You have a beautiful van build. Clean & practical. I love it 👍😄
I LOVE the ceiling! Giving me some ideas!
right? How cool! roof>insulation>fabric>wood strips. I've been trying to figure out a way to get around mounting the wood to the metal, then adding plywood on that. Seems a waste of headroom. This is awesome. I'm off to their channel to find out more about the insulation they used.
Eugene Fugate They used Rock Wool insulation
Love me some New England folks!
Wow ! great energy ideas, bedding adaptation!! real furniture! magnetic fan cover to match the lovely ceiling design. Such humble folks living simply! Thx Bob and the address unknown couple!
Just showed this to the hubby and the bed adaptation made it so no one has to crawl over the other to get out of bed... plus a firm bench set! wtg!
We are looking for our van now been planning for a year all your videos are the most helpful we have seen wish us luck
This setup is amazing. This is doable for me. I love the pantry and wardrobe! Lovely.

Another great van tour. So helpful.
