I don't like the PS3 version. They took out certain things like vegetation and shadows in a few areas. It also runs a bit worse. You can really! really! tank the fps on PS3. Also its colours are a bit off. Also the Anti Aliasing it's using which I believe is Quincunx AA. Really softens the image. Its one of those bad early PS3 ports.

Fun fact: The XBOX 360 version was released in 2006, while the PlayStation 3 version was released in 2007, so the PS3 version is basically Sonic ‘07
It was released in 2007 because a startup Sega had a one-year Sonic 06 exclusivity deal with Microsoft. But since the game came out the way it is, I guess that's why they released it 4 months later in PS3

Nope, you're just wrong. Sonic 06 for the PS3 was still released in 2006, it just wasn't localized in America until 2007. Not that it matters, since there original release would still be 2006 regardless.
Fun Fact: Sonic and the Secret Rings was originally gonna be a port of Sonic 06', but due to time constraints, they changed development for a brand new game for the Wii.
Another fun fact! Sonic 06 was also originally going to be released for pc but it was cancelled due to the terrible developement of that game!

Ah, Sonic 06, one of the few Sonic games that I secretly love, but at the same time frustrates me to the point that makes me wanna go up to Sega and ask for a remake.
The game definitely could have benefited from the Xbox Series X's power. (And the PS5.)

From my Experience:
The PS3 version runs at a lower frame rate and it’ll drop from time to time.
360 on the other hand did have frame rate issues as well, but it wasn’t too common.
I’ll go with 360.

PS3 was hard to develop for at the time, so most ports were downgraded until they figured out how to optimize for it.

Definitely going 360 here cause compared to my PS3 experience it was slower in loading and FPS wasn’t as good as 360 and cutscenes was 60 on 360
Not to mention the 360 version has a higher contrast in certain areas and has better lighting in specific areas

So the PS3 is more blurry and I saw a bad tree popping in which didn't pop in on 360.
Always just played this on XBox 360, I have a special love for that games since there was so much good about this game. I they just had more time for development, a year later and maybe, this game wouldn't have these glitches and stuff.
I played the game on ps3 and still own the game at this day. It runs okay even if Xbox 360 version has its advantages of course during speedruns.

Both versions of the game look relatively the same to me, aside from minor differences with the colors
The 360 seems to have more shading going on compared to the brightness of the ps3 version which makes most things look even clearer.
Ps3 cutscenes also run at 30fps while the 360's cutscenes ran at 60
For the most part both versions look identical but there are minor details were PS3 is inferior like a lack of Shadows during wave ocean sonic mach speed, decreased reflection of buildings on the floor of crisis City and complete different water in kingdom valley. Xbox 360 is just the better version while sonic unleashed is superior on PS3

On the Xbox 360 version, when you manually switch to Day/Night you get these scenarios of Sonic transforming depending on what you're switching to. Whereas the PS3 version, you only get a Day/Night themed screen with a Sun/Moon Medal rotating.

i Played both PS3 and 360 versions and even though i'm a PlayStation fanboy the Xbox 360 is better in almost everything because Cutscenes run at 60fps (PS3 runs Cutscenes at 30fps), the PS3 version is missing shadows in certain areas, FPS drops are more common on PS3 and the 360 clearly has better Anti-aliasing and it's the most evident when you are in the hub world Soleana

@@ChrisThePlayer777 i think Xbox/xbox 360 is made with a hardaware like a PC i think i heard some people saying that Xbox is a PC in nature. So its like much more easy to make and port games to the Xbox.

Or how every Playstation has had a dedicated official Linux OS up until the PS5 while the Xboxs didn't. The free online on PS2/3 like PC that Xbox never had.

The only thing Xbox really has in common with PC is that Microsoft makes Xbox and Windows.

I have a PS3 and Sonic 06 and a 4k TV and it works slightly better on there there is the slomo stuff but it isn't as glitchy for me and runs smoothly so yeah and the cutscenes look better too
I experienced a lot more lag and glitches in the ps3 version. So I’d personally say the 360 version is better
The 360 version it's a bit better than the ps3 versión, both run at the same resolution and frame rate, however, the ps3 dosen't have some shadows that are on the 360 version but you wouldn't even notice except if you play the xbox360 version first, and the 360 has slightly better shadows than on the ps3, then the loading times on the ps3 are much longer than on the 360, the framerate of 60fps on the ps3 it's more unstable than on the 360, and finally some effects like the water or the contrast in the image are a bit better on 360, but besides these things i didn't notice much differences, for me it's just the same game on the 360 and i didn't care that much about these little changes, it's not the same thing to compare sonic unleashed from the ps2 to the wii version cuz the difference it's too much.
EVEN IF THIS GAME IS PRETTY BAD, I GREW UP PLAYING THE XBOX 360 VERSION SO I'LL SAY THE XBOX 360 VERSION IS MY FAVORITE VERSION
Best version to cause it was performed better and had Beta and Demo

why is the 360 version better in pretty much every way? The visuals such as color and texture quality are way better, and what is up with the PS3 version's terrible garbled audio? Also the ingame cut scenes look like they're running at a lower framerate. Plus I feel if you're going to do side by side comparisons playing both audio sources at the same time is really annoying.
The XBOX 360 wins due to having much more detail and a better framerate.

Just wait until you play "Skylanders": Superchargers" (I'm not saying that's a bad game, but still).
On the 360 version if you have a hard drive and install the game on top of that, that'll decrease the time by a noticable margin

I never had the opportunity to play because I thought I was going to spend money for pure, recently I bought it and it was incredible, I like the Ps3 version better, I think it's an exaggeration of the bugs, I don't get many, at least I will have touched 1 per level and in others I did not touch any. What if it annoyed me is that several times it ran like in slow motion and many screens of unnecessary loads.
The rest of the game is enjoyable for me
That's what im finding, I tried to to force a glitch on the silver bowling part, apparently can get through top of door, couldn't even get it to do it. Just finding the main hub area bad as it chokes a lot running around with sonic etc.
Levels aren't too bad and the jungle area is fine. I can live with the loading times but the slowing down is very annoying in a game that's mainly about speed 😂
I've heard xbox 360 version is slightly better for this so may get that version to find out for myself.
The game is actually playable from start to finish on the xenia emulator.
Nice to see even an emulator can run with no glitches like my 360
@@destroyermcw626 the glitches and problems are still there, it runs a lot better and loads a lot faster (depending on how good your pc/laptop is)

I came here to find out why the Xbox 360 version was superior to the PS3 because I was curious.
It wasn't easy for me to tell because the shading isn't as noticeable as GTA San Andreas on the PS2 vs PS3, Kung Fu Panda on different console ports, etc.

Xbox 360 has better visuals and less glitches.
Using Crisis City, Kingdom Valley, Tropical Jungle, and Aquatic Base would have showed this off much better because of the reflection effects in the 360 versions of those levels that is absent in the PS3 versions.
I have question do you need xbox live to play this game or can you play but you can't play with friends or something like that?
tbh it wasn't bad on the ps3 because I got the ps3 slim version so I don't have any fps problems but the loading times are way longer then Xbox but the Xbox version has a lot more glitches then the ps3 versions so I'll stick with the ps3 versions the gameplay is way better in my opinion and on the ps3 slim it dosent have fps drops

@@deepcovergecko actually the advantage of the ps3 slim is that is cooler because it draws lower watts that means more stable performance because the hardware doesn't struggle as much as the other 2 especially the first 1 that can run ps2

Yeah a bit worse, which is surprising since IIRC this game began development on the PS3 so how it ended up the slightly worse one out of the two is beyond me, but with SEGA and their intelligence anything is possible. Absolutely fucking anything.
I can definitely tell even without watching this the PS3 version is probably the worst. Lots of developers had a hard time making third oarty games for the PS3 due to it’s complicated hardware, so lots of games had bad frame rates, crashes, and glitches. I’m not entirely sure if load times were different.
Sonic 06 was already an unfinished game and had slight frame rate issues on the Xbox 360, and countless bugs. PS3 programming probably makes it worse. So i’d say the Xbox 360 version is better. I feel like both of them actually are at a consistent frame rate, but the Xbox 360’s frame rate was better than the PS3. Xbox 360 also had better colors imo, but i think that one i wouldn’t notice if they weren’t being compared side by side.
