I am not a pixie person due to my mother getting them for me for a yr. or so in a cheap hair salon in N.C. when I was a kid; us not knowing back then how to stop the cycle to grow them out. They were done real fast with a razor & wound up w. my hair looking hacked off & it being really close to my head. This wonderful hair technician did a fantastic job creating a precision-cut pixie with the scissors instead of hacking away with a razor, resulting in a healthy-looking (not end-splitting razor) voluminous almost bob-like pixie that looks clean-lined and healthy, & easy to grow out if the customer so wishes. Wonderful job making dark grey hair look so stylish on Tarantula Channel! Go Tarantula!
I am 83 years old with silver hair. Went through time of losing hair over 2 years ago. Medication and special shampoo has taken about 18 months for new hair to grow back Thank God for His blessing. My first hair cut in two years was 2 months ago. I went with medium length BOB., about chin length. I plan to have it trimmed every 4 to 6 weeks. I am so happy with my beautican. If somebody had given me such a short cut At my age I would have begun crying before she was finished. I hope that lady wanted it soo short.
Well, I may be forced to start a new trend among us ‘gently aging’ ladies and start shaving my head bald!☺️ I too am thinning on top-or as the last stylist put it “Yes, you sure are shedding!” Oh, yeh? Well, gee, thanks SO much, fella. His name just shot to the top of my Christmas card list for sure. Does he actually think that customers don’t notice when their hair is falling out?? grrrrrrr
I’m 71 and just got my second undercut pixie. The secret to looking fabulous is having a talented stylist. My hair is white/gray and very curly. My first pixie was shaved underneath like this one and short curly on top. I had to have the short shave underneath due to a skin condition I developed after a hospitalization. My son had already shaved it short from the bottom to mid back of the head so she had to match it. I let it grow out substantially. This time she left the undercut longer and the curly top longer. It is beautiful. And feminine.
This Stylist is very good at haircutting. This Style however would Look much better on a young and very slim Woman with a Long Neck. The older woman's head and Neck Look heavy and square
Again, agree. A ‘modern’ hairstyle doesn’t necessarily cause an older client to look younger. This is too short for this particular woman. Needs more feminity and softness.
Not the least bit flattering or feminine. Like most hair cutters, you just don't know when to stop. I hope she lets it grow out a bit and then finds another cutter.
Normally when you ask for a pixie hair cut you asking for this a lots of textured, so you have to use thinning sheers if you ask for this hair cut is because you want something to play with and move around so to get to this target you got to use point cut, thinning sheers, some times razor depending of what tape of hair cut you asking. Another thing some times the client is asking for this, this is why we have something call consultation before the service 😊
I am a detail kind of person, you did a great job of doing a video of this style. Many 'older' women wear wigs these days and this is a perfect cut for that. But really the model looked beautiful in her new style. I can't understand why some people chose to make such ugly comments. BTW I am 82 yrs. 'young'
Because they are young and are not paying any attention to what life has done to the older woman. This cut is horrific, butch, and way too short for old skin and neck.
They haven’t got a clue how to cut hair, ask what you like do as they please. I have natural Curly hair go to a hair dresser they will take the curl out. I would rather go to a dentist have teeth extracted without freezing than go to a hair dresser. Can’t cut hair worth shit, clueless. That cut she is giving that lady is horrible. Why in hell do they want a woman to look like a man a man look like a woman. That cut she’s doing is to severe it’s insane for an elderly woman, there is no softness to it femininity to it at all. All you see is face , neck, horrible cut for her.
This is the hairstylist I would LOVE, carefully cutting every hair! Making sure the hair will look as wonderful as when she first cut it! What a fantastic woman
Yes, let’ make boys out of girls and make old women look ancient. More mature women already do not feel as feminine and their jowls ae dropped, cheek bones no longer well defined, neck is wrinkled. This is the worst cut of all for older women. I hope every hair stylist who ever did this to an older woman has it done to her when. She is older. …and DIE watching it grow out because the hair grows slower and thinner as we age.
It looks nice but as a retired hairdresser I would say a soft neckline too...I actually liked it before she took the Clippers and cut the wisps off...same with sides....but it does look nice... Since she is a Sr citizen...I think she May have liked it a little more "styled"
Perfect for anyone with a flawless jawline, neck, back, shoulders and the face of a 20-year-old, with a body to match. For anyone else it's a ridiculous idea! And of course, the right texture of hair so it goes into place after washing, with almost no effort. For me, with curly hair, it takes 7 hrs. to get my hair straight and presentable for a week of work, where I wear a headset which is on and off about 30 times a day!
I love this hairstyle I think it looks beautiful. Easy for styling and I love the bangs going to the side of her head. And the way the back and sides have been well thought out. looking really neat well done. good cut.❤
This woman has beautiful hair. The haircut looks like a man’s cut. I am 68 and when a stylist even whispers…pixie…I run out the door. A pixie can be cute but there is …the old lady pixie. No one is ever old enough for THAT pixie.
This stylist did a great cut. I'm one of those women who decided not to cut my hair off it's past my shoulders and softens the jawline. These anti-aging haircuts look harsh to me and scream age.
This haircut showcases a precise, stark, haircut. That’s all. No hair styling, or customization for that particular woman. A. She might have studied this woman’s square jaw, no makeup whatsoever, and very little jewelry; Then considered, “I may want to add some soft, feminine touches to this hairstyle to bring UP her feminine factor.” B. I did this exact haircut on my son’s lush blond hair when he was a pre-teen years ago. It’s a great haircut for BOYS. Too mannish on a senior woman. C. Lastly, perhaps some streaks of color in the front wedge of hair could add some pizzazz and femininity.
1. What’s the actual difference between thinning shears and “texturizing” shears? 2. Don’t both of those types of scissors end up thinning out the hair by cutting some strands shorter than the others? 3. Why do stylists insist on blunt cutting the ends of your hair when you tell them you want undercutting to help the ends tuck under, and to prevent knots from forming at the bottom when you brush or comb your hair? 4. Just because we are somewhat older does NOT mean we are senile. We know what we want! It’s up to the stylist to do what we ask. If we ask them to explain a particular choice they have recommended, that’s fine, but it is up to US to do the choosing once we understand what they want to do. If we don’t want thinning, it should not be snuck in on us under a false explanation. That is so insulting! 5. The beauty schools that have cranked out these robotic stylists who only know one cutting style are doing an injustice to the stylists and the customers. There must be other choices out there.
No, I don't want it chopped but I just had my hair cut this week by someone new and she did exactly what I wanted and it is a nice smooth Bob now...yay‼️
All women look the same with these short cuts..puts you into a definite category....not for those who want a youthful look....short hair accentuates all facial features including things we don't like.
Lots of opinions, mine is that I like the cut on this woman. Her hair looks so thick & healthy. Off the neck ,rock that cool! She doesn't look anything except happy to me. Have fun, after all it is just hair .😊
Incredible cut. I've been trying to get a pixie cut here in windsor for a year. Keep growing it out and three different hair dressers have subsequently butchered it. Its really frustrating.
Truly, that’s not a ‘Pixie Cut’ ! It’s a modified wedge w/a clippered bottom (too clippered, I say) Think of Audrey Hepburn’s short haircut, circa 1950’s. That’s a Pixie Cut.
Agreed-if she wanted a pixie I think it was really well done. But I think a more feminine and longer loose and swingy short bob would have been much more flattering. I am not a fan of pixies personally-if someone really wants one, I think a shortish, wispy, face-framing, layered "shag" is better.
Lord, why is it so necessary to use the thinning shears to much. I thought that her cut was nicer before it was thinned. I have curly hair and I do not allow thinning because it makes my hair a fuzzy ball and hard to manage! Please educate me on this.
Hello-I think you are already educated about & aware of the problems caused by thinning shears-they make hair look scraggly & cause thin & split ends. I personally never allow them, or, Heaven help us, razors near my hair, whether it be cut short or long. That is the first thing I announce to the hairdresser when I walk in:"no thinning shears near my hair, please!" You are right: I think that most of the time they have no place in the salon-thank you for pointing this out!!
This cut is very well done but really to masculine for that lady. In the back it's not necessary to cut it like a men. A more feminine neck will look better and softer on her. Same thing on the sides. It's so masculine... Hope they grow fast so you can made some adjustments.
If I go to the hairdressers and they a. get the shears out b. angle the scissors to give me a V shape over the ear ..I stand up and leave and I don't care if my hair is wet.
I agree. I am an old-school retired hairdresser and I saw this video start with her attacking that neckline with those clippers… I about died. The base of the hairline is NOT SUPPOSED to go above the bottom of the earlobe. She looks like an old man. 😨🫨🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I am 72 y/o and have worn short hair cuts/ pixies for years and received lots of compliments. I am tired of the old hair styles and looking for something different. I have enjoyed reading all the comments as it has helped me decide better what I want and it is NOT THIS cut.
Long enough to frying to accentuate where your cheeks used to be and minimize where they are now, (jowls). And, remember our neck is now wrinkled, no long per that long elegant swan but that detracted accordion water hose.
The lady suits her hair like this. But I would have the hairdresser to leave the hair on top a little heavier properely will look better when it starts to grow. I think she will have to put plenty of Moose on her hair to give it a bit of bounce.thank you for Sharing. Xx
Too short looks too masculine especially in the back and sides. She took too much hair. I have a friend who has this type of haircut all the time and hers is longer and looks great
I am not a pixie person due to my mother getting them for me for a yr. or so in a cheap hair salon in N.C. when I was a kid; us not knowing back then how to stop the cycle to grow them out. TOTALLY! I was thinking the same as I watched! This may be precision cut, but way too short!
B12 to stop thinning hair in old age (amongst other old age complaints).
Well, the customer appeared to be happy with the result. I assumed she requested a short haircut. The stylist did an excellent job, IMO
Which special shampoo helped you regrow your hair?

Such a beautiful shape
I am 72 y/o and have worn short hair cuts/ pixies for years and received lots of compliments. I am tired of the old hair styles and looking for something different. I have enjoyed reading all the comments as it has helped me decide better what I want and it is NOT THIS cut.
Long enough to frying to accentuate where your cheeks used to be and minimize where they are now, (jowls). And, remember our neck is now wrinkled, no long per that long elegant swan but that detracted accordion water hose.
I love this haircut! It looks so cute on her!
I turned 89 waiting to see the result of the marathon cut. Still waiting.😅
Very cool, love it ❤
Bon travail , bien exécuté. Félicitations 👍
Wow! So cool!
GREAT JOB 👍👏👏👏.
JUST BEAUTIFUL
The lady suits her hair like this. But I would have the hairdresser to leave the hair on top a little heavier properely will look better when it starts to grow. I think she will have to put plenty of Moose on her hair to give it a bit of bounce.thank you for Sharing. Xx
Too short looks too masculine especially in the back and sides. She took too much hair. I have a friend who has this type of haircut all the time and hers is longer and looks great
Agree
Too short sorry, like an old man and not a woman.
The ears and nose keep growing as you age which doesn’t look cute with short grey hair.
Great haircut . I need you !!!
that's masterwork!!!!
