    per Aprilia shop manual fluid level from top lip of fork is 122mm. better to measure with a fluid level fork tool that anyone can pick up on ebay for around 20 dollars. Hope this helps. oil is measured with the spacer, washer, and spring in place.

    Your vid is still helping people! My forks are apart now, but can't get the bottom nut loose. Going to visit a shop nearby and ask them to ugaduga it loose, before I break anything. Replacing the oil with motorex 10w and installing SKF low friction seals to reduce stiction. Fixing up my gen 1 Tuono

      Thanks that is the purpose of this channel. Little secret update here. Theres a 2001 mille just sitting in my storage garage needing a full service thats been sitting for 10 years. Also theres a falco im daily riding needing service as well. Expect more vids on these models to come.

    Do you have to take the orange cap off? Surely if you had just undone the bottom bolt on first place the other would of came out in 1 or is it because its spring loaded

      yup...he said 5.2 liters....but i think he meant 520 mili liters..

    Is the air gap set with everything in the tube? Spring etc?

      @@TorrentPerformance 118mm air gap +/-2mm with no spacer or spring. I'm currently running 7.5 wt with a 110mm air gap set as above.
      also the way you filled it meant you couldn't bleed out the damper rod either before checking for the correct air gap.

      You can measure air gap 2 ways the way you said and the space from top of tube to fluid. Never had problems with forks doing my way. Or never had trapped air in dampners either. You don't have to do repairs by every detail by the book. Hints why I started this channel. These are the same forks used on Ducatis of the time there manuals state a difference as well on how to do the fluid change from aprilia. Thanks for your attention to detail on the video.

      @@TorrentPerformance I'm measuring the air gap from the top of the outer tube to the level of the oil using the correct tool. but you can only accurately measure the oil level/air gap (same thing) once the damper has been bled and the oil level settled.
      if you just reassemble the fork fully as you did then pour oil in you'll have two issues with this fork.
      firstly the preload tube has a glide ring seal so you run a risk of the oil not filling the inner but instead the outer fork tube.
      secondly its impossible to measure the fork oil leve accurately l as you won't know if all oil did fill the inner fork leg, you then can't bleed the damper rod and to top it off you can't get the oil level tool on with the top cap attached.
      ducati or not you did a few steps wrongly and its surely best to take on board what I'm saying and to learn from it?

    Hello, thanks for the video. I have 2 questions, The air gap you stated at 180 +/- 2mm I believe it’s 118 +/- 2mm without internal components. I’m I right? Also, I notice your white plastic piece for the plunger is broken, but you mention nothing and continue assembly, does it matter if its broken a little. Cause mine is! And I don’t know if I should continue with assembly. Only one side though. Thanks for your input.

    Do you have any information if it's possible to actually seperate the bottom part (the part what's holding the axle and the brake caliper) from the chromed tube?

      Yes go to my videos and look for aprilia mille fork rebuild i show exactly what you have to do to remove thw chrome tube from bottom of fork. Watch the video all the way threw its a long detailed video

      23:50 I ment the part you are holding at that moment. Is it possible to seperate the chrome pipe and the lower black part.. what's holding the axle and the brake caliper? I looked your videos but didn't find anything about that.
