Thanks for this video - I’ve been a hand therapist for about a year now making around 82k, I think I’m worth more now with my skill set so I am looking at new places
Yes you are definitely worth more than that. Best of luck to you.
just found you today since i finalized my major as occupational therapy. subscribed and looking forward to your videos! thank you!
Thank you!
That was a useful video man keep up the good work💯
Thank you
If you account for taxation, the highest paid OTs in the world are located in HK. even the most conventional roles pay around US$78k before tax (around 17%) tax rate with 5 years of exp, that's around US$6500 take home pay even without any specialized certifications... well but of course on the assumption that you dont need to pay rocket high apartment rental fees in Hong Kong!
How much do OTs get paid in HK? I speak mandarin 🤣
The average is about 57000 hkd per month, which is about 87k usd per year. But as the salary of all medical related job is high in hk, we still think OT is underpaid😂
Thank you great vid
Glad you enjoyed it
Thoughts on becoming a CHT?
I actually have a video coming out on that next week. For me, I don’t think it’s worth it because I only do hand therapy per diem, but if you want to do it over the long term or work in California it’s probably worth getting it.
Nice video
Does international ot experience counts while starting a carrier in USA ?
I know OTs who went to OT school in the Phillippines and started working as an OT in the U.S. I'm not sure the requirements, but I know you would have to pass the NBCOT exam. Hope that helps.
I know some people who have worked as an OT outside of the U.S and moved to the U.S and took the NBCOT exam to start working as an OT.
@@otfocus thanks for the reply. Yes have passed the NBCOT exam waiting for license, my confusion was starting positions while getting a job gonna be new grad or the previous experience will be considered
@@neelima1519 Good question. I think it depends on your state. I would call your state board to get more clarification.
Thank you Somuch for this valuable information 🤗🤗🤗
I'm also an OT student and in Final year now, I want to go U.S.A can you clear me how I will do it?
I am from INDIA
I wish I could tell you, but I don't know the rules about working in the U.S, but I'm interested in this topic and may cover it in a later video.
Which college are you studying
What about Houston Texas? I start an OTD program in the fall.
I’ve heard Houston is actually pretty good. You could probably make $45 per hour full time and $55-60 if you work in hospital or rehab settings. You probably need to hunt around to find out which facilities pay the most. Start emailing OTs in the area or find them on Instagram.
Do you suggest masters or doctorate in OT?
Masters if possible
@@Davidmccombs how much does masters in OT make?
@@Davidmccombs pls how much does masters in OT Pay a year in the US?
@@chinazaihediwa8427 same as a doctorate the vast majority of the time
Masters if you want to work as an OT and doctorate if you want to teach.
What about Illinois? Specifically Chicago region
About $32-40 per hour depending on where you work.
I would guess it’s about the same as Tennessee. $40 per hour 45-50 for per diem.
I am studying OT in india now. i want to work in US. For that did i want to clear any exams?
Good question? I'm not sure. I would contact the NBCOT.
Hlo even I'm in India completed 12th and decided to pursue occupational therapy
May I know how is ur experience is this course good is it hard?
Pls rply I'm really confused
Which health care hospital do you work in Las Vegas ?
I used to work at Valley and st rose
I work at JM hospital in the kitchen and make almost 64,000 per year and you said 70,000 as OT ? No big difference, kinda disappointing! Has to be higher than that
That's pretty good for working in the kitchen. $70,000 is the average OT salary in the U.S but it depends on where you work. In the western states, most hospitals pay $85-100k per year. If you work per diem most facilities start at 100k per year and can range from 110-120k.
How many salary in as a OT in Australia
Good question. I’m not sure but I know it’s less than the US
In canada, hospitals are the lowest paying lol
It’s like that in some areas here but they usually pay more in big cities.
