This Seemingly Simple Game Is EXTREMELY CLEVER!

- Isles of Sea and Sky Part 2 - there's a reason I waited three years for this game. It's great to have an open world game with genuinely smart puzzles, interesting twists, and cryptic but fair secrets. Don't ever think you have this game figured out, it will keep innovating!

Tyler, This game has a "Streamer mode" setting that adds a nice place to put your facecam.
Also, the mini-islands seem to mostly have puzzle mechanics that don't play well with other mechanics.
How nice
But you are likely too late. Tyler usually playthrough the whole game in seemingly one sitting and then upload the edited video in schedule. Which means by the time you've watched the first episode he might have already beaten the whole game and can't take any feedback.
While that may be true, its still useful to comment for other people to potentially see and benefit from it.@@FlameRat_YehLon
@@FlameRat_YehLon Who cares? Other streamers might see the comment and Tyler now knows he should look for streamer mode options in future games (if he read the comment).
@@simonwillover4175 or maybe game dev need to be more clear about what the steamer mode can do. Often time it's about music replacement, sometimes it's about viewer interaction, and only very occasionally would it be for face cam optimization. Without announcement, this is easily missable.
I love the one way gates that never reset, it makes for "oh i need to restart mid puzzle to get more stuff to use" and its phenomenal
Yeah! There’s a small island with elements that don’t reset on top of using one-way gates, all on one screen. It was legitimately one of my favorite parts of the game so far.
@@Scuuurbs Yeah that island was kinda fun to do. The first time seeing the non-resetting blocks and going "wait, this opens so many things" was great.
@@Scuuurbs That was the highlight of the entire game for me. I loved those blocks and I would love to see more puzzles with them in the future!
i love the recent addition of the "last time" intros, it makes it easier to understand whats happening and remember, props to who added it
also, i see that new haircut and i have the same one and glasses i deadass thought that was me 😭
I like the “last time” intros too
Tyler is you?
Can someone tell me HOW this has 100 likes what the fuck
@@frendlyleaf6187The long awaited sequel to Baba is you
As smart as it feels like you have to be to solve some of these, I can only imagine how smart you’d have to be to come up with and construct the puzzles.
You work backwards, and put shit in the way. Then you see if you can still solve it. Then you give the puzzle to someone else and see if they solve it another way and they you close that way off. It is a trial and error process like anything else. Still neat and a skill set.
@@dtoad48 And then you get to intertwined puzzles that allow you to solve chain in several ways, because they actually interact with each other, and you just can't think something oher than "This must have taken so long to get to the final state" and then you remember that this game got delayed by years.
it's so interesting seeing just how differently tyler solved these puzzles compared to me. also, if you want a good late-game puzzle solving mechanic...
...the snakes in the HUD eyes turn red when there's a secret still in the area. I won't reveal what all qualifies as "a secret", but it can be a multitude of things
The snake-eyes became my worst enemy when I realized that... because it clearly told me that there were things I'd yet to find on that screen.
Especially when I could clearly see places I couldn't go to yet...
At least you can 'flag' stuff on the map screen, so wasn't _too_ horrible... but urgh, definitely didn't like having to leave a room without finding the secret.
Ughhh I can’t wait for more of this game!
Same
We'll probably have to wait another 3 years for part 3
i wouldn't be surprised if we got handed a restraining order the next time we see her
Every time we see her it gets more and more crazy.
I miss the puzzle timers. Please bring them back. I know Tyler will always be faster than me but sometimes it really surprises me how fast he gets some puzzles that stump me. I know the open world aspect kind of messes with it but Tyler tends to stick one puzzle at a time
wasn't the timers only for the Magicube episodes? I actually can't remember
@@hugosilva9502yea
@@hugosilva9502the calculator puzzle games(yes, games plural) as well
I like them on games that have clear, discrete puzzles. This game is so open world and abstract though that it doesn’t seem like it makes much sense imo
Puzzle timers are only good for puzzles that are hard but solvable. Some puzzles Tyler has encountered so far aren't solvable in his current state and he knows that. The timer approach will only guide him to sink more time into them.
This was the first puzzle game in a long time I actually picked up. It is wonderful
Tyler still hasn't learned after being maced TWICE
That six key puzzle is extremely important. I would try to complete it as soon as possible. Its actually not to difficult.
Also, pay attention to the inventory screen.
The Tidal Reef god theme is SO good.
im so exited for this series i remember when the first vidoe of the demo came out and i was exited back then too
Tyler is getting over his sokobon hatred
I just realized the whirlpool is literally fast travel for the fast travel 😂
Don't worry there's another fast travel, for when you don't wanna fast travel or use the other fast travel
Faster Travel
8;25 glad I am not the only one that thought i couldn"t pass that water...
I don't know how to progress on this Island until now lol; I actually knew about walking on shallow water, but I didn't think that that water was "walkable"... Guess I Will keep this Island for later as now I'm in and entirely different part of the map
Tyler solves so many puzzles differently than how I did it. It is really mind opening how many different approach there are and the ingenuity behind it all.
Love how this game is going, I hope we get the whole thing
I was not prepared for the unprovoked fireball xD The humor is so random, I love it
11:43 "The river must grow." He is doing a ritual XD
I cant sleep, did not wake up to Aliensrock uploading an epic sokoban adventure.
I love puzzle games that will flip a switch halfway through a batch of levels that completely recontextualizes everything
I completed this game the weekend it came out, and it's very fun.
It'll be neat to see how someone else solves the puzzles. There were a couple that stumped me for a bit.
Oh man, first time I'm watching Tyler do a puzzle game I already mostly beat (thanks to last weeks Tyler recommendation to do so), it's different but also fun. Looking at the levels before everything is unlocked with the knowledge of what's to come is nice. So is seeing Tyler struggle with the puzzles I struggled with.
the entire beach area looks so cozy and chill
This game has so many odd puzzles placed everywhere. It feels like a lot to keep track of and mechanics to remember
I hope tyler plays through everything this game has to offer, dont have enough money to spend on a goated game right now but id love to see my favorite puzzle youtuber show it off to me
im pissed he didnt see the flippers. thatd have been my sole focus but he got too distracted for too long.
Loving these recaps here and for Animal Well! Great way for people to hop into the series
"Teleporting girl isn't into me" *immediately gets blue balls*
Thank you editors for these past few videos having a "last time" opener
dude that water looks so good to swim in
5:51 Bro was solving puzzles before Christopher Colombus did
I would love to see Tyler play Jelly is Sticky, I think it's right up his alley and it's such a good game

"Please don't zap me again..."
Tyler did a much better job of going from island to island than I did. I spent way too long on each island before moving to the next one.
Well, you can rush through the islands, or do everything you can on each one until you just have to go to another one. And with the second method you might find different stuff that can help you in other locations as well. Like a lot more stars to open new paths, or different tools, which Tyler currently is missing.
This is so cool, I hope the low views won't deter Tyler form uploading the rest of the game!
This high tide place reminds me of the water type gym from the Sinnoh region. I loved pokemon dppt
This man and his ouroboros
I'm suprised no one talking's about Tyler's hair.
That is exactly what I was thinking. It gives “mom said it was my turn on the Wii” vibes.
29:28 Tyler is thinking with portals
You should check out the “streamer mode” in options! It creates a room in the top bar for your facecam
love this series, keep it up!
what a glorious looking game.
Tyler at 6 stars: "Leaves the Stoney Cliffs"
Me at 15 stars, 10 keys, 10 stones, 1 dark diamond/gem and more upgraded: "What if there are other things I can do on this island before leaving? I'm sure there can be more to do here!"
For whoever reads this and wants to start to play this game: Keep an EYE open for every detail, specially where you wouldn't normally step.
Edit: 12 keys and 17 stars.
“She slapped me”
Don’t worry, gym membership waiting for you 😭
Warning: You're capturing the game's audio twice. The game audio is doubled.
I often notice that pieces in this puzzle are needlessly convoluted for a simple solution :< But it is fun, wholly!
4:20 editors missing on the big square in the center for your face
Wouldn't be mad if you uploaded this series quicker, definitely not to help me on the parts I'm stuck on because there aren't any good walkthroughs out yet though...
Love the Gameboy Color artstyle
I really wanted to enjoy this game more than I did. The first several worlds were quite decent but the ice world is just tedious and frustrating, which seems to actually be a pretty common opinion, judging by the Steam forums. Simply navigating the ice world, let alone solving its puzzles, is excruciating and I got stuck even advancing because there's a screen I need to reach but it can only be reached through a tedious puzzle where you can't easily tell if you've made a mistake until much later in the puzzle, thus forcing you waste a lot of time completely resetting the puzzle.
Agreed, I bought the game after Tyler's first video and I'm at about to complete it, but the Ice world wasn't that fun. Also the Navigating througout the map wasn't fun at all.
Yea the ice island sucks, Volcano is pretty cool but there’s so many puzzles that require upgrades, that progression is equally frustrating. Water and Earth Island are the game’s best.
Haven’t been to the shadow island yet but the gimmick for it seems cool.
@@zaneomega2 Yeah, trying to line up some of the chain explosions there was kind of tedious too. Though my biggest complaint on that island is the statues puzzle. The dev has fixed it now but I ended up having to look up the solution since the room you couldn't reach at the time made it seem more like I was just missing some important info. That seems to have been a significant issue for a lot of people and seems like evidence that the dev didn't have a significant amount of playtesters. In cases like that, what's obvious to the dev is often not nearly as obvious to others.
I also haven't been able to figure out the puzzle to obtain the rune stone on the small island Tyler visited in this episode. From what I've read on the Steam forums, it's supposedly possible without any powerups but I've spent like an hour and a half across several play sessions trying to figure it out and it just seems impossible. I'm not sure if the ice island's equipment will be any help but the other three pieces of equipment don't seem to have any effect on it either.
@@zaneomega2 Spoiler free comment (Just opinion about end game)
Frankly, the more I play shadow island, the more I appreciate Ice island. I maxed out every other island and shadow island may have a great gimmick, but the setup takes so much time :(
Despite me having great idea how to solve a puzzle, it takes forever. I don't think I have strenght to finish it, since a single star can take more than 30 minutes of setups.
It makes me sad to see people not enjoy the frozen island. I normally dislike sliding ice block puzzles but for some reason I was sucked in. Then after waking the elementals it got even better. Lots of trial and error, but I still loved it. It also has the most OP item upgrade out of the 4 main islands, lol.
Tyler is 593 years old confirmed
You probably already recorded the whole game, but if not, you should turn on streamer mode to make the top bar look nicer
Hey Tyler, have you played dual snake? It's a free game on steam, it's not super difficult but I think it's really fun.
Love the videos, editors are doing an amazing job.
Post more of this series pls
Ooooh this is awesome!
"She zapped me and ran away." - Tyler describing every interaction I have with a girl IRL.
please return to Paquerette Down the Bunburrows
The water world was my last one to resolve
Yooooo whats up i love your videos and this game is pretty damn cool
this game looks overwhelming
I was waiting for this!
Man awesome game awesome video more of this and animalwell pls
my main complaint with this game is how esoteric it is.
w ha t
Bro gets tazed every time he tries to talk to her
Recently cleared the game, took me almost 16 hours, but have got one star left for 100%.
Can't wait to see if you give me the solution to it.
For those that have also cleared the game, I'm missing the bottom left star, on the fire part of the snake.
really love this game!
Wow, this game is *huge*.
In the time between this episode and the last, I bought the game, and have nearly 100%ed it
keep doing the last time intros those are fun
Oh hell no! A teleporting girlfriend could be a real nightmare xD
Idk if this is the place to submit suggestions, but I highly recommend The Return Of The Obra Dinn!
27:09 new ground? 😲
Is ther going to be more animal well episodes? Cause the series is really cool and i dont want it to be cutoff
13:23 missed slipknot reference
I'm very tempted to rip off the water block idea.
Not that I can program though ^^;
is that background edited in?
If you need any help with the musical puzzles on the rock and water god island, I’ll put something in the reply.
There should be musical notes on the ground in six places on the islands. Interact with them to get the solution.
@@Nathan-vx1hb i’m sure he’s accidentally walked over one by now. He plays in huge chunks and then uploads the videos piece by piece.
Water elementals are so cute
only fault in the game is some puzzle require more tools that are found later(good for back track) but ur stuck solving an unsolvable puzzle early on
Yea Volcano Island is the worst for this reason
Love this game !!
I am a simple man.
I see puzzle man post.
I click on puzzle man
Tyler gave up on the reef island way too early
No playlist? D:
I thought I was watching the original Nintendo Zelda!

Tyler is in his edgelord hair period
Has Tyler played Obra Dinn?
I do wonder how much you like the legend of zelda considering this
haircut change at 13:29
Day 1329 of telling Tyler that he never finished his minecraft series and that he should finish it.
Im loving all the "previously on (game)" intros. Such heavy avatar vibes and its also useful
water ditto
Yay more akurra
